I'm wondering if it's some freaky physiological thing that he has no control over. He's obviously coordinated enough to hit a baseball and field a ground ball, but popups give him trouble.
Ironic that you mention Plouffe as a possible non-tender. In the 2010 interview that got Antony so much flak, Antony mentions how easy it would be to non-tender an arb guy who looks like he's becoming a perennial injury risk. Ahem, that might be Plouffe. We'll see. (though it's unlikely Antony will be the guy to make that decision when it's time).
Concur, but is this a good enough position, right now, for a #2 in an organization like the Cubs to leave for, right now? I guess that's what we're going to find out.
I think I am with you on this. I am not sure the requirements that a new GM must roll with Molitor, and that his (or her) activities/spending will need the approval of St. Peter, will encourage any of the really good candidates to pursue this.
ok I buy your edit, but how can you be absolutely sure a good candidate would be interested in this job without being privy to critical information yourself?
Those are all top 5 picks. That means we've been losing and I've had enough losing for a while Though you do frame it in an interesting way. Like Urkel said, play the young guys and see what happens
