  1. Another reason to pull for Cleveland is maybe they will reconsider their position on that ghastly logo and rebrand completely to the block C which I think looks good all my opinion of course
  2. Fox broadcasters: nobody thought the Cubs would win tonight anyway so who cares about the World Series baseball is stupid. ..that said, they do have a point. The Cubs rotation is deeper with all the Cleveland injuries.
  3. Anybody else sense that Buck and Fox are in the bag for the Cubs? LOL
  4. nope, someone in that kind of spot is not going anywhere for a while
  5. I was thinking the same thing. Miller stares death in the face, throws bases loaded 3-1 slider for strike, throws 3-2 slider down and in, gets check swing strikeout.
  6. And I'm up late tomorrow, so I can change the water around 1 AM for you.
  7. Three down, one to go! http://beforeitsnews.com/mediadrop/uploads/2013/38/4fe4113f0c03bb980ee81482da445a0889a41d38.jpg
  8. Pish-posh. What's their xFIP ?
  9. But we did already talk about how failed starters often become top bullpen guys so maybe that's his future, maybe that's the solution. He can already ramp it up to 94 on his heater as a starter and maybe cutting down to two pitches instead of four would be the key. There is some other compelling data about Gibson floating around. For example, he has one of the biggest ERA swings among all MLB starters in games he wins vs. games he loses.
  10. I mentioned that Gibson had an above-average season once, and you didn't respond. I honestly thought you would be popping the champagne over that I don't know what the solution is. Heck, maybe he's our next closer and we don't even realize it yet.
  11. Possibly true, but that's just an opinion. And to get technical, he has already pitched above average in one of his three full seasons. Maybe his next good season is well-timed with a post season run.
  12. I think your assumption is that "fixing" can only mean adding new players. That will certainly help when the time comes. It's also possible and probable that the guys we have can improve with a reboot. Maybe Gibson abandons the sinker and becomes a fastball-slider-change guy. Maybe Berrios stops tipping pitches or figures out something else. Things like that.
  13. I agree Grossman is the fourth OF going into 17. However I am also curious in a good way about Granite. He seems to be the first Twin in a long time, maybe since Revere, who has both 1. the great speed to steal bases, and 2. the strong desire to be good at doing so. That's not a knock on Span, Dozier, Buxton et al but just an observation from someone who reads the TD minor league reports and follows the big team a little too closely for his health.
  14. I remember Aguilera coming up to pinch hit with the bases loaded in extras. But that memory is not until tomorrow's game.
  15. Actually (to my surprise) Boshers has been pretty good against lefties. With Rodgers and O'Rourke, that makes three good lefty specialists, though I don't know if you can realistically carry three such guys for long stretches. I would rank Rodgers the best of the group (if having the worst numbers). O'Rourke seems like he potentially has a wipe out slider like Miller's but it's too bad his fastball isn't a tich higher than 90. I can see protecting all those three.
  16. When do the next five get outrighted?
  17. I am with you in thinking that the Twins need to improve their rotation next season, and make a run at the postseason, but it's possible that some combination of the current 6-8 guys are capable of doing the job but have been held back somehow. I wouldn't want to sign more mediocre free agents, just because. I would rather see a cheap, shrewd trade or two, similar to how the Cubs have acquired Arrieta and Hendricks. However, those guys were July trades. The secondary things will be important too. Abandoning the P2C philosophy will help. Shuffling some staff. Playing a good MLB outfield for the entire season. Reassess in May-June.
  18. I admire Allen for wanting to take control of the pitching mess, but like others, I find something a little off or disconnected about his comments. Not sure what.
  19. I would take my chances with that.
  20. Prediction time - I am going to say Cleveland in 5. Kluber pitches like the Cy Young he is, the bullpen continues to dominate, and behind it all, the mastermind Falvey figures out how Cleveland pitchers can disrupt the big swinging Blue Jay bats.
  21. And may all your series go to seven. edit: probably Cleveland. They are AL Central and have a "little guy" quality about them. And even better if they take 'em to seven games.
  22. Now change the title of that electoral map to "Electoral college polling after Trump wins the second debate" and you will see what the alt-right diehard Trump supporters are seeing, or want to see, not much difference. The elites and career politicians are going to rig the election, remember. I can't blame anyone who is determined to vote for Trump because he is an outsider. Little anything us TDers can do, but it seems like a better idea for people to actively prepare for the worst and see the Trump problem come to nothing, than to laugh about this stuff and then realize too late it's a huge problem. Might be too late already, though. Clinton can do her part by not laughing when Trump says something dangerous during a debate and address it on the spot instead. Stand up for herself at least when he makes a ridiculous personal attack.
  23. When are the relevant dates?
  24. I was fine with the Giants winning until I heard Bochy was maybe going to make a bunch of R-L-R-L pitching changes in the 9th. Just...no. Especially after everything that just happened last night and tonight.
  25. Pro tip: Nobody is smarter than Baseball. Baseball is smarter than everyone.
