  1. Not their day today Friday and Saturday were.
  2. Houston gave up their 3, 9, and 11 ranked prospects for Verlander (rankings per MLB). Not only did that trade not cripple Houston's system, but those prospects aren't doing well yet in Detroit. Houston did offer to take most of Verlander's salary. That was perhaps what a rebuilding Detroit was looking for. Those who say these types of trades cannot be done by this team are mistaken.
  3. The poster you are defending was talking about the Yankees, and in the course of talking about the Yankees he said: "Severino is their best pitcher. Their big trade (Sonny Gray) has been mediocre at best." He was speaking in the present, and I have put the Ryan era behind me. That's why I assumed the poster was talking about the Sonny Gray trade discussion from last summer, not the Sonny Gray thread you found from three seasons ago. That's why I called that poster's recollection wrong when maybe it was my recollection that was wrong for forgetting that old thread existed, or not leaving open the possibility such a thread might exist.
  4. Like I said, I assumed the poster was referring to last summer, and not a hot stove thread from 2015. Also, the other two posters you mention have been as consistent as anyone else in discussing how they want the team to improve.
  5. Interesting finding these. I assumed the poster you are speaking for (MLR) was referring to last summer, and not these old "hot stove" threads from 2015.
  6. Nothing I love more than starters who go 7 innings. Except starters who go 8 and 9 innings...
  7. You seem very conservative and pro-ownership, which is fine, but your supporting points fail scrutiny so often. This one I highlighted, the timeline as you remember it is completely wrong. Sonny Gray wasn't spoken of as a trade target until last summer (I remember this because I was one of the earliest, loudest voices for Gray.) But by last summer, Jose Berrios was showing quality stuff as a starting pitcher. There's no chance anyone would have seriously proposed sending Berrios in a trade for Gray, except as satire or tongue in cheek. By the way, the Odorizzi trade looks like a vastly better deal for the Twins than any Gray trade would have been.
  8. Ok, well I doubt I ever mentioned "Berrios" and "trade" in the same sentence, not even after 2016, and I'm not going back to find out who did Also, I agree with you about Gibby, as rough as it was for him to get to this point.
  9. Thanks for the reminder. Given a choice between Danny Santana and Troy Tulowitzki at shortstop, many fans did indeed argue for bringing in Tulo, given that Molitor was still all-in on Santana, all the way up to the trade deadline. Fortunately the compromise solution prevailed: Eduardo Escobar. And who were our possible prospects to deal at that point? Arcia? Theilbar? Gibson? Josmil Pinto? It's all relative and case by case. A trade like that might have been doable, if not necessarily profitable for the Twins. I want to keep Lewis but it's not an unreasonable position to want to deal Lewis for a guy like Realmuto instead.
  10. Yes, and in this case, even though catcher is a concern, I really want to keep Lewis.
  11. For some posters, it was. But that flies in the face of Falvey and Levine's statements that this is now a "destination" team for free agents. So, there's that.
  12. Really disappointing response by Molitor. "Had a chance to hold a lead, I get all that, but gotta have more offense." Well, 2-1 games are worth winning, too. Just my opinion. If he wants 7-10 runs every night he should quit and join a softball league. Sorry about the negativity.
  13. Part II of the question: the successful SB percentages of those top 5 are thus: 85, 80, 80, 80, and 75% (some rounding, but actually pretty close). Who got the 85% success rate?
  14. Bravo for guessing without reading the answer later in the thread!
  15. Fox had a camera showing fans leaving the Tigers game tonight. There were like 90% millennials. Streaming out. At the actual game, spending money.
  16. Lol that guy took three straight strikes
  17. There are indeed, and I wholeheartedly agree— they do not.
  18. That grand slam will improve our chances tonight....
  19. So the follow up question is why would we diehard MLB fans want casual fans to fix our game for us.
