  1. Methinks Sale doesn't like pitching out of the stretch much. P.S. Unleash the Dogs of Hell, please.
  2. If something's going to happen, now's as good a time as any.
  3. And I have a beautiful major league baseball signed: Rollie Fingers HOF. He didn't ask me to pull his fingers.
  4. Nice work. I've always heard loosed, but unleashed works on even days and weekends.
  5. Don't forget to note that the baseball gods loosed the Hounds of Hell, which proceeded to rip the Twins to shreds early and often.
  6. My last big theory is, the good guys fall so far behind that they curl up in a fetal position, then crawl out of the bunker waving the white flag.
  7. Riverbrian: Who? Benintendi or Blyleven? Chief: Yes. Gracious, I'm not going to lob these meatballs to you guys forever.
  8. My other big theory is, teams that get big early leads get complacent and give it all back a run at a time.
  9. Only timely errors are forgiven, yes. EDIT ADD: The comeback has commenced.
  10. This ruins my theory that a team that loses on a walk-off HR the night before will be totally depressed the next day and lose big.
  11. Is this any way to treat the First-Place Minnesota Twins ? Boston's players should be ashamed of themselves.
  12. One inning of shutout ball has earned our newest hurler the nickname Nick "Mow 'Em Down" Tepesch.
  13. Yep. All I could think of was Bill Murray's monologue... "former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters Champion. [swings...] It looks like a mirac- It's in the hole! It's in the hole!"
  14. Be careful. If your lady friend is a virgin, the locals may toss her in.
  15. Once long ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
  16. Hate to admit it, but it's time to DFA Gibson and insert someone from the stands in his place. This was a winnable game, and we insist on sending a guy to the bump who's completely lost confidence in his stuff.
  17. No worries. Yeah, shades of Joe Nathan follies during last night's 9th. (He got into trouble a lot, which we tend to forget.) Plouffe came through once again.
  18. The 110-degree days make it all worthwhile.
  19. Happy for Buck, happy for Joe M., happy for Miggie, happy for Rosie, happy for Erv, happy for El Comandante, happy for Bull Dozier, happy for Herr Kepler. It's nice to be happy. Maybe now we can have nice things.
  20. Called up Santana's projected numbers and ESPN has him going 29-0 with a 0.65 ERA. I remember when Gibson (Bob, not Kyle) went 22-7 with a 1.12 ERA in 1968. And that year I batted .545 in Little League and played catcher after Bill Freehan put on a clinic in Flint on an off day in May. Good times. EDIT ADD: Unlike Freehan, I didn't have to face Gibson, thank goodness.
  21. Ain't nothing better than scoring runs with two outs. In baseball, that is.
  22. And for a few minutes there, Buck was batting over a buck-fifty. Baby steps.
  23. I'm sure this has been observed previously, but this Sano kid is all right. Reminds me of Ortiz.
  24. Can just smell the karma three states away for all the times KC has undressed us the past three years.
