  1. Again, I'm all for reigning in gun regulations. However, if you think terrorist attacks will stop or be less deadly I think that's incredibly naïve.
  2. France has far more strict gun laws than us. The terrorist attack in Paris claimed more lives than the terrorist attack here. I'm all for examining gun laws, certainly one's that don't allow people on the no-fly list to purchase weapons, though I can understand some people being hesitant when the IRS, which should be non-political at the core targets Tea Party groups. However, as Levi pointed out if we can discover other networks that are related to this guy that are planning to carry out further attacks, I don't think we should ignore those solely in pursuit of gun regulations.
  3. As an aside to the bolded part, not necessarily the KKK, but if you remember there was a huge purge of southern culture/racist symbols (whether perceived or real) immediately after that. So I think the answer to your question was kind of yes on that one.
  4. I will strongly disagree. If he was on our radar as a potential terrorist or radical Islam threat he should have been vetted much better than he was. I personally think by the time this is done, the FBI will come off looking poor. Now whether that is because as you think they don't really care to track people who may be motivated by radical Islam or they don't want to have the appearance of being 'racist or bigoted', but no matter what it seems to me a huge failure and a tragedy that could have been prevented with a little more caution/action on the part of the FBI. If we can take any extra steps surely those 49 lives would have been worth it. To just throw our hands up and say who cares what the motivation was, seems reckless and doomed to go down this path again.
  5. Interesting. I'm reading that the shooter may have had more ties to terrorism/radical Islam than the FBI even realized. They are suggesting he was scoping out potential targets. Sounds more like terrorism to me.
  6. I was enthralled with it. It's too intense for my wife, but it is easily one of my favorite shows. Amazon badly needed to get a good original and I think they finally got it right with this one. I do agree with you the first couple of episodes were a little slow, but once that snowball starts rolling downhill there was no stopping me. I don't even enjoy binge watching, but I was forced to with this show.
  7. We use an antenna with a TIVO box, the TiVo was I think about $150 for a lifetime plan. Through the TiVo box we can get access to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and MLB. Of course you have to pay for any of those subscriptions. We subscribe to MLB, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. In my mind you just can't beat Amazon Prime unless you are absolutely hooked on a Netflix original. With Prime you get the 2 day shipping, Prime Video (fairly similar offering in comparison to Netflix), and Prime Music. I use the music a ton and there is a bunch of free music content to put in different playlists. We bought the Echo and often stream music from Amazon prime. Best of all we use google fiber and went with the most basic plan $300 for 7 years of service and it's fast enough to stream anything to our tv and use the Echo at the same time. I used to think I would really hate not having cable/directtv, but honestly there are very few times I miss it and I sure don't miss the bill.
  8. The claim is, though I haven't seen good video on it, is Odor was throwing at Bautista face on the throw to first.
  9. Part of me was hoping you were having to relocate to some place in the deep south. Oregon does sound like a more natural fit I must say. I hope your move goes well and you all transition as smooth as possible. I wonder if you will get any pressure to switch allegiances for college/pro teams. We moved to the KC area 4 years ago and there is a lot of Royals pressure, mostly because of their recent success I'm sure. Stay strong and Go Twins!
  10. I understand where you are coming, but for me not voting for Trump is a moral issue. A quote from C.H. Spurgeon sums up my feelings quite well on this one, "Of two evils, choose neither." Will there be a number of Republicans that hold their nose and vote Trump, sure. My vote will not be amongst them.
  11. It is surprising to me we have a republican nominee before the democratic nominee. This will be the first presidential ticket I don't vote Republican. I have to hope for a 3rd party run or I'll just write in a candidate so I can still be a part of the process. Very disappointing for me.
  12. Not only that, but I think it also works to further motivate, if that's possible, Trump's base. They were quick to point out 'look how the establishment is trying to screw us'. He kind of thrives on perceived slights like that.
  13. This is a good, but scary read. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/04/america-tyranny-donald-trump.html#
  14. Well. He did turn me into a newt.
  15. Meh. My intention was not to quibble or cause problems. I'll check out.
  16. Either you misread my comment or you just fabricated an argument. Fairly surprising coming from you.
  17. Sometimes the other side is not always evil. Just a different perspective.
  18. Except Democrats had complete control and failed to fix it. Almost like it's not any one side that is the problem. Imagine that.
  19. Gosh. I can't believe our country let all those people die before Obamacare. How was this not in the news?
  20. Mike, this is a poor effort on your part. If only Democrats had control at all the same time they could fix health care to no ends. Oh wait. Speaking of logical fallacies.
  21. And no I'm not an advocate of universal health care. I was privileged to the sensational VA care that was run by the government. I left free health care to pay for it on my own, because after all I would rather pay for health care than receive no care at all, free of charge of course. It's embarrassing to me that is how we take care of our troops that fought for the freedoms we are discussing trivial or not. So I would just assume the government remain far away from my health care.
  22. Exactly. However, I think drawing the line by forcing people to buy insurance or pay a fine is an overstep by big brother and you don't. That's fine, but it amazes me that people can't imagine a scenario where that makes someone feel it infringes on their freedom. What if the government decided everyone should eat potatoes because it is a good source of potassium so you must either by potatoes or pay a fine? Would that be an overstep in your world? Is it really that hard to see that someone would consider both an overstep? Just because some liberals consider health care a necessity and morally good, doesn't necessarily mean we should all be subject to it. Just because some Republicans consider heterosexual marriage morally good doesn't necessarily mean we should all be subject to it. The thing that baffles my mind on both sides people refuse to see things for what they are and only blame the other side instead, because well that's easier and the other side must be evil.
  23. To me it seems like, and like I said previously both sides are guilty of this, freedom is declared by both sides unless it is sacrificed because something we perceive to be good or morally correct. The difference lies in what both parties determine is good and correct. I prefer more of a Rand Paul type government hands off approach, but truthfully my faith in big government is somewhat non-existent.
  24. I have a hard time understanding how forcing me to buy something or not allowing me to buy something falls into the other people be darned category...
  25. You were the one that brought up cars, so I agree it's not really relevant. Sure you can say most if not all liberals don't want to ban guns. Doesn't make it right. I can say most liberals/socialists want to severely restrict gun sales. Doesn't make it right. That's the beauty of freedom that some are advocating taking away.
