    His era is where it is BECAUSE of the defense behind him. That's the point of FIP - fielding INDEPENDENT pitching. Taking the defense out. Its saying he's benefitted by things outside his control by more than a full run already. It makes no sense to claim one pitcher on the same staff will magically start over performing his FIP and others won't.

    I agree... might be finally time to sit Mauer. I also think he'll figure out some way to resurrect his career. So much talent there. Arcia also should be given every possible chance.

    There is just no way they are going to get the pieces back to make it happen with the current roster. Why give up anything until they have the real pieces in place and they can reassess the weaknesses they have at that point?

    I grew up in Chicago (and have since moved back unfortunately) listening to idiots say the "next year" thing about the cubs forever (and to be honest... Twins Cubs world series 2018 could be a thing realistically) This isn't that. Were talking about ONE proper rebuild they're working on. I'd just like to see it through. See what they have here. I've been the most pessimistic twins fan I know for a good long while here, but I feel like they're on the cusp of something pretty good right now.

    Twins aren't the type of organization that is going to force the issue. They have enough talent in the system that it'll happen naturally. Going to be within the next couple years. Enjoy it!

    Plenty of teams in baseball haven't been relevant for decades. Twins were one of the best teams around in 2010. It ain't so bad. Have some patience!

    Twins play Texas, st Louis, and the cubs through next Sunday. Over/under on them going 2-7 during that stretch and coming out 35-34 at the end of it?

    Definitely would be an upgrade, but like I said - ain't gonna be cheap! They shouldn't be giving up much.

    They aren't going to find an appreciably better SS or C than the ones they already have in a trade without giving up some real value. I do think it would make sense to find a league average-ish offensive 1b, which they could probably find for a lot less. Not sure what you do with Mauer at that point (23MM pinch hitter sounds VERY un-Twins to me.)

    2011 4.18 2012 4.59 2013 4.56 2014 4.08 2015 4.16 Starters currently sit at 16th in MLB. Seeing they currently are WORSE than last years' by at least that measure.....it belies the eyes for sure. xFip thought they were a full run better than their ERA last year. I don't know if xFip actually had to watch them pitch at any point, but it is what it is. Confirms those '12 and '13 teams were absolutely rotten though, which required no confirmation.
