  1. A non contending team should not be platooning its young up coming prospects, maybe (likely) Arcia will never be great at hitting lefties but he can improve but will not without facing them in his formative years.
  2. When the FO is going to leave 20 million in available payroll unused every year what does it matter if you re-sign him to a 2 year 20 mill contract or a 1 year 5 mill deal. Personally I would trade him bring up Pinto and let the year ride out. If Pinto shows he's still not ready to be more than a DH/backup C then go after Suzuki again in the off season.
  3. If you were a Twins GM, would you offer a top 5-10ish Kepler'esque type prospect to a team like the Yankees just to absorb Nolasco's contract?
  4. Don't get me wrong, I love Dozier & he's proven his success is no fluke. However, if you can get a young front line starter, do you do it & finish the year with a Santana/Escobar middle infield? Even though Rosario has been up & down a bit since his return I still view him as a very good hitting 2B. Polanco isn't exactly 5 years away either. The Braves are 1 game behind the Nationals & finally just released Uggla. They have no clear 2nd base options. They have an abundance of near ready pitching prospects. Including one former prospect who has been very good in Alex Wood. How reasonable would it be to call up the Braves FO & see if they were interested in a Dozier & Corriea swap for Alex Wood. Wood would slot in beautifully behind Hughes & Gibson giving a different look while adding a quality lefty to the rotation. Hughes/Wood/Gibson/Meyer/May let's play!
  5. Seriously, Hermann? I can understand his place on the roster if you want to DH a capable backup C, but as the next best bat from the minors, yuck. Not as offended by Hermann as much as let him be the real backup and call up something else for Fryer. Hermann & Fryer should not be on the roster together except for both Pinto & Suzuki being injured simultaneously.
  6. Soon it will be... We found a little inflammation & have him rest a couple weeks. Followed by short start, 60 day DL, & finally TJ.
  7. Except for that little problem of being completely unable to locate any of those pitches.
  8. How do you get a bone bruise that bad mid sprint without banging it.
  9. Pino's leaving them up, please don't make us listen to Blyleven spew that all night.
  10. Crushed, wow that was a liner. Suzuki was getting in Arcias face about something after he returned to the dugout from the dong.
  11. The definition of laboring, come on Pino you got this.
  12. Another pitcher with pine tar on the brim of his hat, I see this more & more.
  13. I was skeptical of his K rate throwing mid-high 80s but after watching him I can see it better. His delivery has a lot of deception. That right shoulder & arm are completely hidden by his body & come out of nowhere at the last second. If he can repeat that delivery with his fastball & off speed he will continue to strike out 5 a game. Obviously he has a little less margin for error throwing 88 but that delivery makes it look 92-94.
  14. I really want to see him at AA the second half, let him force the Twins hand to fast track him. If that happens there maybe only 2 years of Ricky Nola which I regretfully look forward too.
  15. Rosario would be better right now, no thanks.
  16. Maybe Slama never would have stuck & I don't truly believe they missed on him. However I think teams do a real disservice to players who are older minor leaguers who seem to have figured it out. They make them prove it that much more clinging to them as depth rather than sending them to a team needing a starter due to injury or performance. Then the players get their shot 2 years later after losing the bit of magic they found followed by the team saying "see, I told you so" when they don't succeed. Moving a Deduno & Corriea for young A ball guys letting Pino & Achter see if it carries makes sense. Especially with the Meyer, May, Darnell etc being able replacements if they fail.
  17. They will start having 40 man roster issues soon with the wave of players coming in the next few years that will require to be added to the 40 man. I don't see Suzuki bringing much in prospect value wise that would make a trade worthwhile. I don't see teams giving up more than fringe 40 man roster talent with a tinge of upside left. With how he's played & fit with the team, signing him to a 2 year extension to play 50% then 40% of the games in the respective years wouldn't be a bad option.
  18. I can understand the sentiment but it's like saying Tice was a bad coach. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. Considering the resources he was given I don't think you can have a definitive answer.
  19. Such a crazy year standings wise, Im feeling pretty good about seeing some meaningful games in September though! Just a couple M&M boys from getting there... hahaha
  20. That list is filled with very mediocre pitchers other than Garza & I don't care who you are as a pitching coach anyone is going to be better after their 22-23 age seasons. That list to me proves nothing & I don't think Anderson is a real good pitching coach. He's a bit above average in my book. That doesnt mean you dont go find someone better but pinning the mediocre pitching squarely on him isn't telling the entire story.
  21. Dickey, really. He had 1 unbelievable season and immediately went back to average. Knuckleballers are a different animal. Lohse spent a few years with the best pitching coach & staff in baseball by far after he left here. If we are going to compare what Anderson gets compared to Dave Duncan then we may as well give up, no one is as good as him. Nathan was as good here as he was anywhere else & Rogers was here 1 year when he was 38. Im not going to argue Anderson is a good pitching coach, I think he's solid which is about middle of the road league wide wise. I just think he's been given too many below average pitchers people expected him to make good.
  22. I've always thought Anderson was a solid pitching coach, some of that has dimmed a little in the last couple years. Still I think he's gotten far too much blame for not being able to turn poor pitchers into good ones. Considering the type of talent the team has given him, for the most part the staff has produced better than the talent available. People always want to point to Liriano but he is again back to & will always be Jekyl & Hyde. I have a feeling Anderson's biggest weakness is not his ability to get the most out of the talent given to him. But not being able to tell the FO that this guy just isn't going to cut it and saying we'll do our best to make him better. Which ends up being not much because they stunk.
  23. While you definitely have to consider the fly ball ratio as a factor thats a small piece of the puzzle. He's dominating while being 3 years under the average age, not having been a full time pitcher until later than most. Hammond maybe forgiving the normal OF for them has been Harrison/Kepler/Walker. Not exactly a bunch of burners covering a ton of ground.
  24. Berrios has been utterly dominating, bump him up a level already.
  25. Deduno hasn't been as good as I expected but still has been solid besides that horrible last start. He earned the chance to come back. With Lirianos injury & KCs last promising start the twins should be looking to move him to Pitt now. DFA Burton & Guerrier & call up May to start with Meyer & Pino replacing the relievers. This bullpen goes from good to elite.
