  1. How can you give Houston credit for scouting Santana and not the Twins? Sure, Houston found him first, but didn't have the foresight to protect him in the Rule V draft and the Twins scouting department realized he would be a good pick.
  2. I may be wrong, but 1.9 WAR is NOT 2 wins above an average MLB player. Its 2 wins above a replacement level player. Its 2 wins above the average AAA player that could take his spot. In theory anyway.
  3. Parmelee has a career OPS of .711. Against LHP its .711 (not .649 as you say). This year his OPS against LHP is .852. Against LH Starting Pitchers, his career OPS is .798. What that tells me is that he has struggled against lefty specialists in his career. Also, he has started to figure things out.
  4. In 2011, Jose Altuve got 35 games in AA before being called up by the Astros in late July or Early August. Starlin Castro only had 56 games before the Cubs called him up. Christian Yelich only got 49 games in AA before he was called up. Justin Upton only had 71 games in AA before he was called up. The Giants were good, but Buster Posey got 7 games with the Giants in 2009 after only 35 games above A ball (he went to AAA with no AA in between). He hit .118, so he wasn't there to help the team, just to get a cup of coffee in the majors. Thats probably the closest thing to Buxton as we can get. I don't think he'll get a September callup. It would be very unusual if he did, but not unprecedented. I think a more likely career path is like Andrew McCutcheon. A month in AA this year and next year, then the rest of next year in AAA, then start 2016 with the Twins.
  5. I think they'll give Sano every opportunity to win the opening day 3B job next year. Maybe he'll start the season in Rochester, but I think he'll be up by May. Buxton should start in AA next year and could possibly open the season in 2015, even though he'd be awfully young. Lets assume that he does and then consider this possible lineup in 2015 opening day. Buxton-CF Rosario-2B Mauer-C Sano-3B Arcia-DH ???-RF Parmelee(???)-1B Hicks-LF Florimon-SS Could easily move Mauer to DH or RF and fill the C spot with Hermann or Pinto. Not sure on 1B. One possibility is resigning Morneau as a cheaper veteran if there isn't a better option.
  6. Over the last 2 years, Deduno has an ERA of around 3.00 in 86% of his starts. Take out 3 clunkers and he's been very good. Reminds me of a knuckleballer.
