  1. To follow my earlier post: Robinson Cano: Age 19 A-/A .276/.319/.437 15 HR 33/86 BB/K Age 20 A/AA .277/.322/.374 6 HR 26/65 BB/K Age 21 AA/AAA .283/.339/.457 13 HR 42/67 BB/K Eddie Rosario: Age 20 A .296/.345/.490 12 HR 31/69 BB/K Age 21 A+/AA .322/.374/.504 9 HR 31/63 BB/K (so far) Rosario stacks up pretty well thus far.
  2. Is Robinson Cano a reasonable comp for Rosario? Eddie has generally out-hit Cano at comparable stages through the minors, although Cano was a year younger following the same path (eg Cano played at A and AA as a 20 yo). Cano's power didn't really show up until 4-5 years into his Major League career (averaged about 15 HR in his first 4 years) - I'd be more than happy if Rosario can follow a similar track. Like many others on here I've got a season ticket on board the Rosario bandwagon.
  3. Arcia in 11 games since being sent down: .455/.550/.879/1.429 4HR 5/5 BB/K Hopefully a bit of trade activity in the next 24 hrs will clear the way for him to return
  4. Moon Shot Baker lining up against Ft Myers tonight
  5. What's interesting to me is that even outside of the 23 guys that were graded there are multiple high upside (admitedly high risk) talents such as Minier and Felix Jorge, very solid contributors like Pinto and Vargas and 4 guys that have contributed to the MLB team this year (Thielbar, Pressly, Hermann and Hernandez). That kind of depth, added to the top 7 or 8 high ceiling prospects (including those "graduating" this year) bodes really well for building a competitive team over the next few years, whether through graduation to the team or trade chips to fill areas of need.
  6. Didn't take long for Arcia to find his swing - 3-3 so far with his 2nd HR in as many days
  7. I'm guessing Buxton at #1, Sano somewhere in the top 5. Law described Sano as putting on the best BP at the futures game, so clearly likes his hit/power tools. Interested to see if he has more confidence in Sano sticking at 3rd now. I suspect Rosario and Meyer will be honorable mentions, although one might sneak in towards the bottom. I don't expect to see Stewart or Berrios.
  8. 1st inning 2B for Rosario who is now hitting .295 in NB and has hit really well in the last couple of weeks (.362/.423/.574 in July, 5 BB/4 K). Month to month samples are a bit arbitrary, but maybe this is evidence of his acclimatising to AA nicely.
  9. Berrios has really struggled in his last 3 starts. Fatigue? League adjusting to him? Hopefully no injury concerns.
  10. His June was OK too (4.29 ERA, 27/8 K/BB) but let's not go down the road of cherry picking stats in arbitrary clusters. I think his body of work judged over 110 IP to date is OK given the role he is suppoed to fill (back of the rotation innings eater, veteran presence, keep the team in games); you seem to have higher expectations which is fine. You can call me a chump at the end of the season if he implodes in the second half My frustration with Ryan is that I would have liked Correia to have been the supporting piece of the off season free agent activity (with say a Dempster) rather than the headline act, but I think there is a lot more to complain about with the rotation than the one guy who has provided some reliability so far this year.
  11. Pretty harsh I think. 3 ER or less in 12 of 18 starts. 3.96 ERA in 9 starts at Target Field. Take out 1 bad start against Atlanta in May (5 ER in 4 IP) and his ERA for the year would be under 4. Not sure what you were expecting from a guy costing $4.5m this year who got crucified from the moment he walked through the door, but he has taken the ball every 5 days and done a pretty serviceable job IMO.
  12. As much as I would like to see Beresford succeed (I know some of the guys who coached him here in Australia as a youngster and they say he is a great guy) it's hard to see him hitting enough to stick. He's got no power (6 XBH in 230 AB), has a career MiLB OPS around .670 and would likely get overpowered by major league pitching. Worth a look in September maybe, but I'm not that hopeful.
  13. Molitor would be my pick. Dougie Baseball would be an interesting call, but might be a year or two early for that.
  14. Gardy's gone with the getaway day line up a day early
  15. Kepler sure hit the ground running. SSS of course, but 2nd HR today and OPSing 1.113 through his first 6 games
  16. Rosario 2-4 with a 3B in the first game of the NB double header. Sano 0-fer with a K and 2 fly outs to CF.
  17. Kevin Correia IP/GS 6.3, WHIP 1.30, K/BB 3.7 Justin Verlander IP/GS 6.1, WHIP 1.35, K/BB 3.3 I know I'm being selective, but it's fun with numbers...
  18. Not wanting to bash my fellow Aussie, but I'm not sure I get this. The only time Beresford has cracked a .700 OPS in 7 minor league seasons is when he's repeated a level (.711 2nd time around at Beloit, .721 in his second run at NBR). Doesn't give me any confidence he can swing a major league bat.
  19. Great start for Hendriks - coughs up 1st inning grand slam
  20. I know it's a bit arbitrary, but I find the following encouraging for May: Apr 25.1 IP 5.7 BB/9 May 33.0 IP 4.4 BB/9 Jun 20.0 IP 2.7 BB/9
  21. Worley scattered 9 hits in a 7IP 1ER win
  22. Lead off HR for Buxton
  23. Great work guys, from part of your worldwide audience!
  24. Presumably taking Manaea at 34 is the only way the Royals can justify reaching for Dozier at 8
