  1. The last couple years the Twins have been way worse the 2nd half and they already have a worse record at this point than they did last year so they will probably have a worse record than last year. Right now we would have the 5th pick and are 1 game ahead of MIL and CHW, so if we are even worse in the 2nd half I could totally see us having the 3rd pick or maybe even 2nd if we are really bad.
  2. What are you/you guys talking about? BJ did not "Crush" when he entered the minors. Yea he was pretty good(.882 OPS) but his number in 139 games weren't amazing, and he got worse in 106(.769 OPS) games the next year even though he was on the same team. So please tell me how that is crushing? And its not like AAA is the best minor league level lol, look at collabello. And Young in Tripple A had less than an .800 OPS in over 130 games... So what are you talking about?
  3. Hey man Im totally with you, I have been saying this all year. The teams that stay bad for long periods are the ones that are stuck in neutral, they aren't horrible but they aren't good. You either want to fight for the playoffs or be one of the worst teams in the league and get a top pick(ESPN anchors and other sportswriters say this all the time). And considering most of the players currently on the Twins wont be here in several years and we have no shot at the playoffs we might as well get another top 5 pick. We need pitching in our system in the worst way so lets get another top arm. BAL, TEX, PIT, SF and WSH are just several teams who are good now because they hit rock bottom for several years and got their teams best players because of it. Of course it doesn't always work out that way but if the Twins want to be a WS contending team they need to get as many top prospects that can all come up within several years of eachother. Because lets be honest the Twins cant/wont spend as much as NYY or LAA in FA and trades to buy themselves into the playoffs.
  4. Man a lot of you guys are disappointing me, let me tell you why its insane to compare duos like BJ Upton/Young and Hosmer/Moustakas to Buxton/Sano . What have Buxton/Sano done throughout their lives that Upton/Young and Hosmer/Moustakas didn't? Buxton/Sano have dominated every league they have played in, they have been dominant in baseball at every age in every league. They put up big numbers everywhere they go, something the other 2 pairs didn't do. All 4 of the players from those 2 pairs weren't nearly as dominant in the minors(Especialy in the first couple years) as Buxton/Sano. Most top 10 prospects that become busts are those type of guys that kinda come out of nowhere later in the minors(Not really out of nowhere but kinda). The Guys like Mauer and Trout who dominate right away in the minors are the ones who become stars. Buxton and Sano are both gonna be great, especialy Buxton. Seriously you have to look at a players track record from there first year in the minors.
  5. Lets be honest the Twins aren't gonna make any trades and if they do it will be a bad trade that leaves us all wondering what happened. If they do make a trade it will be one of our only decent players for a low level prospect that wont amount to anything. Its the Twins way.
  6. Buxton has been amazing in FT Myers and should move through the Minors quickly. I think we will see him sooner than we thought. Sano on the other hand is really struggling, I thought he was turning it around a little bit ago but he is still hitting around .200 and isn't improving much. Im sure he will turn it around soon but if he doesn't he might see Buxton join him on NBR. And when is Alex gonna be back? But it is awesome to have the the number 1 and 3 prospects in the league, when was the last time a team had the number 1 and another in the top 3? Cant wait til they are on the team.... Next season maybe???
  7. How on Earth isn't Bautista one of the starters? WOW that's one of the biggest snubs. Among AL OFers hes 2nd in WAR and 2nd in OPS, so how is he not a starter? Some people who vote don't understand baseball and its really annoying. And you cant look at last seasons 2nd half, that's just dumb. People have good seasons and bad seasons, and when they have a bad season the start of the next season is a fresh start so why should they be judged on last season in this seasons AS game?
  8. Typical Twins signing, they take the cheap route. I mean they have cut 40+ million in payroll the last few years so they have saved a ton of money so why not spend all of your pool and then some ot get one of the top 5 players?
  9. You would think the Twins would be all over the top INTL prospects considering how much payroll they have cut the last few years? I guess its typical Twins to sit around and let all the real talent go.
  10. I see what your saying and I agree a prospect is far from an established major leaguer let alone one of the games best like they are hyping Sano and Buxton up to be, but I think McCarty was a bad example. His minor league hype was like Moustakas' and Hosmers, they had a high chance of being a bust. But yea I agree, dont know why I got so irratated when you used McCarty as an example lol. My B.
  11. Theres another article written yesterday about buxtons tools but you have to be a customer, has anybody read that article? Im really getting sick of sports sites because you have to pay for all the good articles now. Its total BS!
  12. Please tell us what Dave McCarty has to do with Buxton and Sano lol? I dont think you remember him, he was never ranked higher than 16th by baseball america and he didnt even put up close to as good of numbers in his first couple minor league seasons as Sano and Buxton. McCarty wasnt dominant at every level he played like Sano and Buxton, just like Hosmer and Moustakas who weren dominant at every level. Usualy the guys that all of the sudden become great in AA and AAA dont pan out, the guys that have been great their whole life are the ones that do pan out. All im trying to say is you cant compare Sano and Buxton to a guy that wasnt even close to as elite of a prospect that Sano and Buxton are.
  13. Any chance the Twins get a top 5 INT propsepct? You would think they would be all over the top guys because of what Sano is doing? I mean us getting Sano was nothing less than an act of god. Maybe that sparked the Twins into having the mindset that Intl prospects are just as good as draft prospects, maybe better so why not spend the money while they are young?
  14. Not trying to be a D bag but PR is part of the US, its not a Latin American Country.
  15. Im not a casual fan so I was wondering what you casual fans on here think? Is Morneau the new favorite? I know too much about baseball to not realize Mauer is by far the best player on our team. I understand that Morneau could now be the favorite because the casual fan likes RBIs, they dont understand OPS and WAR. So if theres any casual fans in here whos your favorite?
  16. Do you mean their 2011 prospect group? Thats when they were all ranked high. Baseball America ranked them: Hosmer-8, Moustakas-9, Myeres-10, Lamb-18, Montgomery-19... The difference between Sano and Buxton and Hosmer and Moustakas is that Sano and Buxton have dominated every level of baseball they have played in. Hosmer and Moustakas were bad early in their minor league career. Moustakas' first 2 seasons in the minors were not good, he was an average minor leaguer than in his last year and a half he was really good. I believe guys like that have a bigger chance at becoming a bust, I mean look at Collabelo hes amazing in tripple A just like Hosmer and Moustakas but we all know he will never be an established pro. The one prospect out of their top 3 in 11' that did dominate at every level is Wil Myers, who is now playing really well in the majors and people believe he could be a star. I just think that to be a real elite prospect you need to perform at a really high level at every level, not just start playing well in tripple A. To answer the Question I wouldnt trade Buxton for all of them because I would look at Hosmer and Moustakas' track record and see theres a huge chance they are busts, which would mean Myers is the only real elite prospect but nowhere near the level of Buxton. Of course its easy to say that now but im sure I wouldnt of traded for them. Then again 5 top 20 prospects is pretty amazing.
  17. Last year was an illusion, Diamond just doesn have good enough stuff to be a mid 3s ERA guy. Of course he shouldnt be this bad but I see him as a low 4s to mid 4s guy. Its funny because other than Gibson now the Twins have no SPs that have potential to be more than a 4 maybe a so so 3.
  18. Usualy the best HR derby guys are the guys who can hit the ball the furthest, which isnt always the guys with the most HRs. Sano can hit the ball super far. Like this year people look at Chris Davis and see his 28Hrs and think he would be teh best HR Derby guy. If only they knew this year and last year combined he has 0 HRs over 450ft. Yes he can hit HRs but he doesnt have the same power as Cabrera, Trumbo, Cespedes, Bautista, Encarnacion and Prince Fielder who all have 3+ 450ft HRs over last year and this combined(I only did AL HR derby candidates). Stanton is a guy I think Sano will be like, he has by far the most power in the MLB. Last year alone Stanton had 7HRs over 450ft, the next closes is Cabrera who had 6 over 450ft last and this year combined. Sano will be just like Stanton but some have said he has more power than Stanton, hopefully its true.
  19. Honestly any of these moves are worthless and not worthy of discussion. Just a bunch of lost players that are barely in the league.
  20. Exactly. Some people say well the Twins wouldnt give up Sano for Perkins so why would BOS give up bogaerts? THey dont get that the Twins arent a closer away from potentialy winning a WS. Thats the ultimate goal, and if Perkins who is a great closer is available and BOS thinks with a dominant closer they can win the WS they will give up any prospect to do that.
  21. Wow did you seriously just bring up Hosmer and Moustakas? Hosmer was a bum his first season in the minors. Sano and Buxton were both great in there first years. And actualy have real potential, Hosmer was never supposed to be one of the games best players. Yea they thought he could be an allstar a couple years(Still could be) but he wasnt nearly as elite of a prospect as Sano and Buxton. Moustakas was a bum in his first 2 seasons in the minors aswell. He had a .805 OPS his first year and a .718 his second year. Just like Hosmer we all knew he wouldnt be one of the games best and though maybe he could be an allstar. I didnt think either would be good. They were similar to collabello, hes tearing up AAA but thats the only time in his life he has done something like this. We all know hes not gonna be a great player, hes just a AAA all star that cant translate to the pros. Sano and Buxton have put up amazing numbers in every league they have been in at every age. REAL TALENT! A good prospect will do that, they will be good in every level they have played in.
  22. I think Buxtons ceiling is higher than Mauers was. Buxton is a true 5 tool player. Mauer has been one of the best players in teh league the last decade but Buxton could be better. Buxtons ceiling is unlimited, I saw a top scout say his floor is Torii Hunter...... If thats his floor his ceiling might not be comparable to anyone becaue he could be so good. I really think Trout is the best comp. I mean look at his numbers this year in CR, and he will adjust to FM just like Sano is doing in NB. Its very rare a team gets a prospect like Sano or Buxton, let alone both of them.
  23. Yes I would love a top prospect(top 30) for him but honestly when he enters the game its so refreshing to see a pitcher as dominant as him in a Twins uniform. Its the only time we get to see some real heat, its the only time we are able to expect a strikeout. If we move him and get a top prospect than thats good and will help our future but if we dont I wont say what if because I get to watch a great pitcher in a Twins uni.
  24. If teams that are true contenders but need a dominant closer start a bidding war I wouldnt count out one of the games top prospects. I mean the ultimate goal in every sport is to win the championship and if they think Perkins can help them do that than they will pay the price for sure.
