  1. How old is Ortiz? I'm curious if he is still a "young" prospect.
  2. Here's a great article about the Ruar Verkerk signing. Also, I notice his email is in this article. Jeremy or someone from TwinsDaily should try to email the kid questions to introduce him to the fans and get to know him better: Netherlands ? Ruar Verkerk
  3. Yes, that is totally sad...unfortunately. I think unless there is another A-Rod in future years, I don't think the Twins should draft a top 3 round Shortstop. Instead, go the free agent route or internationally. There are some other guys I didn't mention on this list like Tonkin, Boyd, Wheeler, Slegers, Kuo Hua Lo, Tim Shibuya, AJ Atcher, Miguel Gonzalez, Solbach, Burris, Gonsalves....our minors are just crazy good! I'm ready to get rid of Morneau, Willingham, Doumit, Carrol, Correia, Pelfrey, and Perkins and get this started!
  4. You are probably right actually. The more I'm thinking about it, they are tiered more. Kepler MAY be up with them but I think it will take another year to know that. Otherwise, it probably goes: 1.) Sano and Buxton 2.) Max Kepler, Jose Berrios, Alex Meyer, Eddie Rosario, Oswaldo Arcia 3.) Polanco, Meija, Josmil Pinto, Trevor May, Kohl Stewart, Travis Harrison, Aaron Hicks 4.) Adam Walker, Kennys Vargas, Amaurys Minier, Lewis Thorpe, JD Williams, Niko Goodrum, Danny Santana, Daniel Ortiz, Felix Jorge, Yorman Landa 5.) Lewin Diaz, Landa, Angel Morales, Alex Wimmers, Nate Roberts, Randy Rosario, Ryan Eades 6.) DJ Baxendale, Taylor Rogers, Tyler Duffey, Zach Jones, JT Chargois, Corey Williams, Dalton Hicks, Mason Melotakis, Christian Powell, Stuart Turner, Mitchell Garver
  5. cmb0252 - I would argue that we have 3-4 super star level prospects. Personally, I would definitely put Kepler into this discussion of super star talent. Berrios would be my next one ...Rosario could potentially even be in this discussion.
  6. Albers should be called up at the next open opportunity. If Diamond falters two starts in a row, Albers should be up. If Pelfrey falters two starts in a row, he should be up. I think the only guys with relatively long leashes right now are Gibson, Correia, and Deduno. Otherwise, Albers deserves a shot, and soon!
  7. I've been wondering this same thing. Do we have a formidable crew of young pitchers on the near horizon in Gibson, Darnell, Albers, Deduno, May, Meyer, Baxendale and Berrios? If that's the case, which of those 8 have the best chance at being in our starting rotation to start 2014?
  8. Also, Plouffe is athletic enough to play all over the field (3B, 2B, 1B, and OF). He is very valuable to the Twins
  9. I think trading Plouffe would come back to haunt us. He is still young and improving. Now, the others it would be dumb to not field serious offers. Same goes for Correia, Perkins (in the right deal), Carroll, and Butera.
  10. How can his "hit tool" be that bad? He almost batted .400! Good lord. Sometimes I think these scouts overthink this crap.
  11. What is going on with Kepler? When is he coming back?
  12. I like a mixture of control pitchers and hard throwers. Control pitchers make it to the majors more often it seems but hard throwers are more risky but have more upside opportunity. I say do the mixture and keep it up.
  13. Call up THE LEGEND Buxton and he will win it easily
  14. You got to think Correia could net a decent prospect at the deadline. He has been pitching great!

  17. This Mildren kid looks/sounds pretty solid. Not a bad get for the 12th round! Here's the writeup on him: Pitt's Mildren faces big decision about baseball future | TribLIVE
  18. I think Dougie Baseball will eventually be the Twins manager...he just seems to have the IT factor with players. Also, I would love to see Koskie eventually come back for coaching. I could see Hunter coaching in the minors down the road. Drew Butera seems to be a student of the game as well. I am really surprised Brad Radke hasn't popped his head into coaching more...maybe that will change?
  19. He is ABSOLUTELY our best trade chip. We will get close to nothing for Morneau because he is in the last year of a deal. He may net an A+ or AA prospect that would be considered a B-prospect but that is probably it. Willingham may net a little more because he has one year left at a good price and is a power bat. Perkins could get us an A-prospect...you need to do it. We have plenty of young closers coming up (Tonkin, Aaron Thompson, Cole Johnson, Zach Jones, and many more)...in the near term I think Burton can handle the duties just fine. We do not need a dominant closer because we are barely winning anyway. Mine as well build for 2015! If you honestly believe we will get a ton for Morneau though, think again
  20. This site is the best thing ever! I update it about 50 times throughout the day to read forums and updated entries. You guys do an incredible job and it keeps my inner baseball nerd in check. Keep up the great work! You guys deserve some great respect from the Twins community
  21. I don't see how they "can't" sign shore if they keep signing guys under slot, it would seem conceivable to be able to offer Shore the rest
  22. Byron Buxton's range is the planet Earth
  23. Byron Buxton scares curveballs straight
  24. I feel like the Buxton hype deserves it's own thread on urban legend discussions similar to Chuck Norris jokes. The things this guy does is remarkable. I'll get it started... The tradition of the 7th inning stretch began when Byron Buxton flexed his muscles and everyone stood as a gesture of respect. or Byron Buxton knows who's on first
