  1. I like the Twins draft too but not as much as the Pirates. I think they came away with better overall prospects. I don't think Eades will amount to much but I do think Gonsvalves and Stewart will be studs and Turner will become an everyday catcher.
  2. So, is it out of the realm of possibility that the Twins go out and sign Garza and Arroyo and then trade Correia and Gibson for a big time bat (outfielder/shortstop/catcher/DH)?
  3. I love the Rajai Davis signing (if they proceed). I am all for signing Arroyo too. But, then I think we need to make a trade. And, people may not like this but I think if we can flip Kyle Gibson for a viable starting "ace" like Hamels, Homer Bailey, or Brett Anderson, I say do it. That rotation would be playoff competitive then. If you have Correia/Deduno/Worley/Meyer as your number 5 SP, that's how it should be. Hughes as your #4, Arroyo #3, Nolasco #2 and one of the traded pitchers as your #1. Then, you all of a sudden can make the playoffs in a year that it didn't appear possible!
  4. I feel like if they are truly looking at signing Arroyo, something is going on. They may be looking to trade a significant prospect for a significant pitcher and make a run over the next two years with the youth movement coming. I mean, if they traded Meyer and Rosario, could they get a David Price? It would be a nice rotation: Nolasco, Price, Arroyo, Hughes, and Correia/Deduno/Gibson.
  5. I wouldn't mind Bronson Arroyo but then I would hope they trade away Correia or some of the other junk like Hendricks, Albers or Deduno. I would imagine we could get a decent return for Deduno...couldn't we? Like maybe a Low-A pitcher for Deduno? Then you have Nolasco, Arroyo, Hughes, Correia and Gibson/Meyer/Darnell/May
  6. You know Beane will ask for a young pitcher in ANY deal. That's how they always have a well oiled stable of pitchers. They traded Dan Haren for Brett Anderson (and 7 others - including Carlos Gonzalez). Gio Gonzalez was traded for Tommy Milone. Trevor Cahill was traded for Jarrod Parker. That's what I worry about...I'm worried they will try and poach our SPs from the Single-A level and that they know more than we know. I guess it shows the trust I have in the Twin's brass to evaluating pitching talent
  7. I think anything aside from Sano, Buxton, Stewart or Meyer, the Twins need to strongly consider this trade. I have to imagine a trade of Berrios, Taylor Rogers, and Tonkin could get this done. But, who knows with Beane. I'm VERY hesistant to trade Lewis Thorpe or Gonsvalves but at the same time, they are very far away.
  8. Craig Biggio Frank Thomas Mark McGwire Greg Maddux Barry Bonds Tom Glavine Roger Clemens Until VERY recently, I was completely against the steroid era guys getting in. But, now I'm more of the mindset that everyone with influential numbers should get in. I reviewed Jack Morris's numbers and I just don't see how he deserves it (based on numbers). But, I realize he was a stud in big games. I think the above are the most deserving based on numbers. I am NOT a fan of Bagwell and I am probably unique in that aspect. I think striking out a ton is not a sexy stat, hence why I don't like him. I think Biggio and Maddux FOR SURE should be in and then from there...it's up to the voters and their opinions on steroids and other peripherals.
  9. This article is the EPITOME of why I love Twins Daily. This is my favorite article you guys have written so far. I've been wondering all along why we draft so many Kentucky guys. Now I know. This is awesome. Seth, you are great at interviews and I really appreciate what you do for Twins Daily
  10. I would have like them do something where it allows the first 5 teams (starting from lowest winning percentage) that were willing to pay the $20 million posting fee, negotiate with Tanaka. From there, he could choose between 5 teams. I think this still very much benefits the richest teams but, at least it's a step in the right direction. They REALLY need to get an international draft though. Until that is done, the league will always be top heavy. For a team like the Rangers to go get a guy like Yu Darvish because they can afford him or a team like the Dodgers to get Puig for the same reason, it's an unfair advantage. But, whatever...what do I know.
  11. Actually, if you sell merchandise for a profit, all profits after covering costs can go towards hosting a Twins Daily community event at a bar or something.
  12. Sorry, I'm in sales and marketing so clearly I like this kind of stuff
  13. Or maybe do a watch party for the good 'ol days. Like rent a place to watch the '91 World Series Game 7. That would be a cool event/gathering
  14. Also, you guys should consider selling Twins Daily merchandise. May seem silly, but I'd buy them (mugs, t-shirts etc.).
  15. I mentioned this to you guys in the past but I think you guys should do more traveling shows. Meaning, when the Twins are on the road in cities like Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Kansas City, etc. you should do podcasts and Twins gatherings in those cities. Do a pub crawl or reserve an area that is all Twins fans. I live in Kansas City and would love to help host an event down here at a brewery or something. There are Twins fans everywhere and I think Twins Daily can play a part in expanding the fan base.
  16. I would argue we need MANY, MANY MORE until Terry Ryan and the Twin's brass actually start listening to their audience/clients (the fans). The state buys a stadium to support the team and we haven't been spending money. That is a legitimate reason to be frustrated.
  17. Anything less than two decent FA signings, I will be disappointed. I bet they sign 1 less than decent pitcher (Pelfrey) and then get a bunch off the trash pile after that. They do this every year and it is so old at this point. What they should do is go hard after Garza and probably an Arroyo/Kazmir type. But, I don't see it happening. It will be a bunch more rhetoric that leads to the aforementioned pathetic FA signings.
  18. I am totally ok with them bringing back Pelfrey. But, it should be a precursor to two bigger moves (i.e. Garza and Arroyo/Hughes).
  19. The Royals won't trade Bonofacio. They love him in KC. They talk about it a lot on the radio (I live here).
  20. I don't think those are mutually exclusive. They are the same thing.
  21. I hope I'm wrong. I just think Terry Ryan has financial priorities way before fan appreciation priorities. It's frustrating. I do think it's strange the number of free agents we are attached to right now but I think it will all be for little in the end. It would be smart to build the pitchers to prep for the youth movement. That means getting a guy that can mentor Trevor May, Kyle Gibson, and Alex Meyer (such as a Josh Johnson or Arroyo type). Or, getting guys that can be ready to compete for a wild card again in 2015 and 2016 - Kazmir, Nolasco, and Garza fit this mold the best. Either way, I think the Twins need to sign three guys. 1 guy on a 1-year deal (Johan) and 2 guys on 2-3 year deals.
  22. I apologize for being grumpy about this but I hear the same garbage from Terry Ryan every year and I can't believe I was once excited about him coming back. He is a penny pincher and it drives me nuts.
  23. Go ahead and get excited but this happens EVERY YEAR! It is a classic move by Terry Ryan. He puts the word out there that the Twins are heavily pursuing these high priced, highly sought after Free Agents and then, he says, "oh we tried hard for them but just didn't get them." It's ridiculous. I think they will sign 1 pitcher and it will most likely be Arroyo, in my opinion. I think they should sign three (Arroyo, Nolasco, and Kazmir/Johan) but I just don't see it happening. There is no way Garza comes here and for it to be even brought up is ridiculous and just another ploy by Terry Ryan.
  24. Completely agree. This is the approach the Twins should take. Which is why I think signing two guys like Arroyo and Nolasco is a great idea. And then add a questionable guy like Johan, Colby Lewis, or Josh Johnson.
  25. I agree man. The Twins will NEVER sign an ace FA pitcher and I NEVER expect them to or really think they should. They will break the bank by doing that. However, FA should be used for filling pitcher holes in the #2-5 range. We need to hope/pray for aces to arrive through the minors with guys like Kohl Stewart, Alex Meyer, Trevor May, Berrios or Thorpe.
