  1. I'm pretty sure we probably will need to pay them for taking him off our hands...
  2. I really think they need to start moving these guys up and challenge them more. I think it's a little ridiculous that some of the guys are stuck because of pitchers such as Blackburn, Virgil Vasquez, and PJ Walters. Summers should be in AA. Albers should be in the majors. Brett Lee should be in A+ and one of the GCL or Elizabethton guys should get moved to low A. I don't understand the slowness of moving guys up...
  3. I was thinking this same thing yesterday about Dozier and the Royals. maybe Rosario is closer than we think? I mean it would need to be a decent return for Dozier but would be great for the Royals.
  4. Agree. I highly doubt the trade offer is out there. Especially with the recent splurge on trading for relievers/closers. But, I do think a team could get desperate at the last minute today or tomorrow and throw a deal at us like that. Then, I think we need to move on it. But, you are right, highly unlikely at this point
  5. Disagree. They don't need to be overwhelmed. They need an Alex Meyer type player and another player. Something like a Tyler Duffey or Berrios type player. I don't think that's being overwhelmed but it's fair. And, trading him now is the best time because his value is so high. Relievers are replaceable. Guardado used to be "irreplaceable", then we found Nathan. Nathan used to be "irreplaceable" then we found Perkins (or Capps I guess...). Aguilera used to be "irreplaceable" then we found Guardado. You get the point...
  6. Nice. I've been following Bixler's numbers. This kid looks good!
  7. Hmm...well, this could solve problems for them such as...hmm...not really sure. I live in KC and hear the radio all the time on what they would "need" and really, they don't need much (other than offense). Which, of course, we don't have much offense. I could see Doumit potentially being a fit. Or maybe Plouffe in the right deal (since Moustakas has been awful). We'll see...
  8. The market for Perkins is drying up. At this point, I can't see a team making a run at him unless they were desperate at the last minute. Like a team losing their closer to injury tomorrow or Wednesday. Oh well...it was fun to think about
  9. This is an ideal trade for the Twins. Perkins and Morneau for Bundy? We would probably have to pay Morneau's salary. Maybe they would be willing to throw in a C-level prospect like Michael Belfiore (similar to Darnell or Albers).
  10. Valid point. It looks like this Vasquez guy would be more comparable to an Aderlin Mejia or Adam Walker type player (maybe). So, for Perkins, I would only be happy with a return of something like Alex Meyer and Kepler type return. However, I don't see that happening.
  11. I completely agree with you. However, IF a trade does happen with Perkins, it would be nice to discuss it beforehand to know if they got good value when they make the trade. Meaning, if they only get one solid prospect for Perkins, I would now be disappointed because Veras is definitely not the same as Perkins. At the least, they should get two solid prospects based on this Tigers trade.
  12. Umm...ok. Thanks for participating...
  13. So, the Tigers traded away their 4th best prospect (Danry Vasquez). He's a pretty darn good prospect from what I can tell. Young prospect that is raw but is holding his own in the Midwest League at age 19. Impressive. So, the question is, what could the Twins get for Perkins in comparison? Perkins is a better player, younger, great contract, and an all-star. I think could/should be able to get a prospect like Danry Vasquez, another player like Danry, and a B level prospect. We'll see. At least it starts to portray a better picture for the return on a Perkins deal
  14. I wouldn't say it was unnecessary. That is the point of this blog, to educate the fans. The forums are just opinions or links to articles about what may have happened. This article finalizes the details. Now, yes, we can move on. But, I think it was necessary for the Twins Daily team to write about it.
  15. If you can get a Taylor Rogers, Baxendale, Tyler Duffey, or Matt Summers type return for Pelfrey...you jump on it. Those pitchers are all "potential" 4 or 5 starters in the future with the chance of being as high as a #3 starter...that's what you'd hope for. But, otherwise, sign Pelfrey to a 3 year deal (in my opinion)
  16. I think the dream target would be Mason Williams. They don't have good minor league pitching...so...eliminate that, unfortunately
  17. Hmmm. I don't disagree with his top 100 (with Twins players) but his top 20 on our team I don't agree with. Until Bard or Chargois play enough, they do not warrant that ranking. Also, I think Meijia should be on there along with Tyler Duffey, Baxendale, or Rogers. Is Felix Jorge considered to be better than Lewis Thorpe or Yorman Landa?
  18. If we can get rid of Correia's contract for next year, I'm totally about using it toward Pelfrey. Then just roll with Gibson, Pelfrey, Deduno, (a FA pitcher), and either Hendricks/Meyer/May/Albers/Darnell. That free agent pitcher I would hope would be a Hughes type (potential to be solid but more likely to be a 3.75-4.10 era guy).
  19. He showboated after a homerun. They benched him for it. With him being so young, it was probably the right thing to do. However, I would only bench him for one game to make a point. Whatever.
  20. I think if you can get a Baxendale, Taylor Rogers, Matt Summers type player for trading Pelfrey, then you do it. Otherwise, just sit on him and play out the year. If he does well, sign him to a 3-4 year deal.
  21. I hate to say it...but, unless they can get a great young High-A or AA starting pitching prospect, they should try to resign him. He's been a great leader (from what I've heard/read) and based on history, this is about the time that Tommy John pitchers start to turn it on. Strike while the irons hot. Trade Correia if at all possible though. We have better options in AAA and AA in my opinion.
  22. Ok, Matt Summers is throwing up some silly, silly numbers. How legit is Summers as a long-term player? What's his ceiling and floor? I have the same question about Meijia, Seth. Do you think he could be our long-term solution at SS? Or, is Danny Santana the more likely long-term solution?
  23. It's the only way I can drink my coffee in the morning
  24. There are others I would put into this power category too. Such as Buxton and Kepler.
