    I would argue that a player can be brought up just on defense, but not the top prospect in baseball who has the offensively potential that Buxton does. Simmons wasn't the top prospect in baseball nor does he have the potential on offense as Buxton. He also didn't basically miss the entire previous year.

    I'm not going to read the entire article as it won't change my mind. In no way does Byron Buxton deserve a spot on the 25 man roster right now. The way he is hitting right now he wouldn't do any better than Schaefer, Robinson, or Hicks offensively. Defensively is different, but you don't call up the top prospect in baseball to play defense. Let the guy put together a good month or two then write this article.

    Bad defensive fundamentals, or bad fundamentals in general, at the MLB level and a team that looks like it doesn't care is on the coaching. Fortunately, it has only been 7 games. However, even if the team improves on those things, this team is still bad how it is currently constructed.

    What is it like having almost a completely new roster every year? How much do you have to change your strategy each year, or even with roster changes from call-ups?

    After his performance today, my only concern is that he is too good and the MLB won't let him play in the league because he is so much better than everyone else.

    When I said "home plate umpire doesn't call anything" that is referring to him calling it a ball and not a swinging strike. You don't call a swinging strike from behind the plate unless it is obvious.

    As a home plate umpire, you never say a batter goes on a check swing unless it is completely obvious. A catcher appeals to a base ump when the home plate umpire doesn't call anything and the catcher thinks he might have went. This is a call I wouldn't even expect to see from my fellow umpires at weekend tournaments, yet this guy has been an MLB umpire for a while now. That's just terrible.

    I hope MLB makes in market streaming a thing sometime this year so I don't have to find random websites to stream the games.
