  1. Outstanding game, but the Twins have essentially added to full games to the year with their 17 and 18 inning games. Tough on the players. Good time to add back some players, but hopefully Arraez stays. He is so consistent he is essential in a free swinging roster.
  2. I love watching the turtle out there and looking at the team reactions, it is obvious that he is also a team favorite. That's worth a lot.
  3. He has shown improvement, but I am not a quality start person. I think that Quality starts rate right with saves as a meaningless stat. If we refer to wAR as meaningful stat he is replacement level. just like Martin Perez - 0.0 WAR. And you can choose beginning of the year or recent with him too. They have months to prove they are better than #5 starters, but right now, like #5s they are erratic.
  4. I am always mystified by the statements that a pitcher did really well except for one inning. That was a five run inning. Seldom do teams have many multi-run innings. That one inning was huge. Pineda has a 0.1 WAR and a 4.76 ERA. He is only replacement level. Which is alright at five, but the Twins need more.
  5. I love the KC style. They lack pitching, but their hit and run style is fun and upsets teams that stand and swing.
  6. I am ready to keep Arraez, but I am not about to jump on the Astudillo is not an asset band wagon. I love both of them.
  7. I am. He is just what we need - with he and Polanco getting on base the others can get the RBIs. I love the way he plays.
  8. Wow what a concept and a really good one too. Tampa Bay has had a great team and lousy support, Montreal had lousy teams and good support. Put them together and we have something fun to talk about. 82 games is an expensive season ticket, 41 might be more affordable. Each city would compete to be the most supportive and the team and MLB comes out on top. Yes, I like these kind of out-of-the-box ideas. Remember the time with Mr Pohlad was willing to contraction? http://a.espncdn.com/mlb/columns/mcadam_sean/1274034.html. In this new and nicer idea the length of the baseball season is no longer a problem. Too hot in Florida - play in Montreal, too cold in Montreal play in Florida. Why not? So where can the Twins find a partner city? Not that we need too, but just in case where can we go? How about Duluth? Or if we want the international connection - Thunder Bay. If we are looking to be creative how about Des Moines - Iowa has no MLB connection. It does not need to be half a season. Make it a series that typically does not fill the stadium and let it excite another location. Expand our fan base. I am enamored with this idea. How about the Yankees? Maybe Havana los Yankees. Red Sox - medias Rojas - in Mexico City. What is a Dodger in Spanish - Gandul or French le resquilleur I am thinking this could be the MLB entry into world baseball. The cubs in French - Louveteaux or Japanese カブス - Kabusu
  9. Another nice signing, but I would like to have a great signing!
  10. I find Wade the most disappointing person on this list and the posts I read seem to agree. I had really hoped for him to be MLB ready and I do not think he is. Nor do I believe in Cave, but that is a different story. If I had to predict, Wade will make a MLB roster with another team and not the Twins. Soon, I hope other prospects will take over the number 4 OF position and Wade's opportunity will vanish. This 30 - 40 range is fun reading and interesting names. No-one here to plug the pitching holes and that is really all the MLB team requires at this time.
  11. In our championship years we had pride in our defense, this year's defense is surprisingly poor. With our outfield and Garver improved behind the plate - that leaves the infield (I hope the others hold up) and the players we have might not be exciting in the field, but they should be competent. What is the cause? Finally, the question I have - is Cave pressing? He looked so much better last year and in the minors.
  12. I hope the twins can put them away like they should, but I do like KC's defense and speed. At least they have two good building blocks for the future. And those two things do not go into slumps so they should keep it interesting
  13. As a consistent critic of Sano, I am compelled to add to this discussion. Watching Sano wiff insignificant at-bats the last two nights has driven my frustration to higher levels. He didn't even come close to hitting those balls. It says if he has his eyes closed and just hopes. You can throw all kinds of stats at me, but being one of those old guys, I still like to judge what I see. And I do not want Sano coming up in crucial situations. I have no faith in him. Somebody might turn him around and I hope that that happens but as of now I am not a fan. I prefer Arraez and his bat discipline over Sano. And I hope by the end of the year or next year or sometime in his career I can eat by words.
  14. How about giving us the year totals for each of the top 20. It's nice to see the daily efforts but I'm curious at this stage to see what they're collective stats are. Seeing Lewis statistics means more to me than the fact that he had a two home run game. If that continues as a trend for the next month that's exciting what is it now season is it disappointment. I look at Carol off and I know he's been out more than he's been in since we've signed him and I hope that is not a sign of future issues. Like the others I'm disappointed to see our top three not performing this year whether injuries or not. And I'm looking forward to seeing Seth revised listing. These minor league reports are excellent and I really appreciate the effort that you put into doing this.
  15. I love Astudillo and Arraez, but continue to be frustrated by Sano. I am in agreement with the post that says we need players who can small ball in compliment to those who are long ball, but I really like those who can do both. This is twice that Gibson has come up after we had a game the blew out the bullpen and both times he failed to give the innings that the team needed to rest pen. He is not a picture that I would like us to rely on and the postseason.I hope Pineda surprises or we find a third pitcher we would have faith in.
  16. When you finish this series. Please consider a ranking of major league ready. As I read these I'm always trying to think of what their real chances are. When I see number 40 pitching with the twins last night it emphasizes that there is a difference between prospect rating and prospect readiness
  17. We signed him and paid him for an injury recovery year in addition to this pitching year. I think we had expectations.
  18. Kepler was amazing and also demonstrated that sometimes is just not a night for hitters. The fact that he was the only hitter to really be on last night makes him a hero and he deserves great credit. Sometimes hitters convince one another that it's a bad night I may be at help the Kepler came off the bench and hadn't been parked of the price innings. On the other hand watching Sano was really painful. It was just obvious he was going to strike out in those key at bats. Kepler showed the value of contact with his single to tie the game.
  19. I believe that is called damning with faint praise. I don't think we need to keep finding these Minnesota nice descriptions for players that aren't performing as they should. When Pineda was signed I believe they look at him to possibly be the number two not the number five. With Perez struggling now the team needs to look real hard at at least one more starting pitcher as well as relief pitching support.
  20. This is my kind of game. I don't like football scores. It was a tight end with great pitching and I like the bunt. Just one of the other commenters stated polanco did his job. What was needed was for the runners and the subsequent batteries to do theirs.
  21. This site is fun because so many people who are on it are so well informed. I do not question that or the ability of the club, but I am still not clear on how other teams view our prospects as trade chips. What is the formula for trade value on players who have yet to come to the majors?
  22. This is one hopeful essay - we have so much minor league talent that the other teams will send us true talent in return. Not sure I buy that. I wish I had evaluation from neutral sources. What are all our players worth? Who could we realistically get back?
  23. How many pitchers are realistic in our minors for this years Merry-Go-Mound? I love our record, but for a team that has this good a record the search for arms is amazing. When will the carousel slow down?
  24. I have been frustrated with Romero in the pen since the beginning. It still feels like Sano in RF. When someone is doing well in one situation, why change? As the summer progresses can we continue with a pen like this?
