  1. Larnach has been used well (appropriately?) and responded this season.
  2. Classic zero-upside, DH only “veteran” signing. Just another flawed approach to roster building for this organization. Only hope was that he started the season hot and would appeal in trade to some competitive team at the deadline. But as recently as last season, “starting out hot”doesn’t appear to apply to Bell. So I ask, why make that signing?
  3. Just the kind of thing we will be used to with this 72-win team.
  4. There’s really nothing left to say about (or see from) Wallner. If he’s not sent down for a reset in the next few days, I don’t get it. Problem is, we’ve got too many guys like that who probably shouldn’t be on our ML roster.
  5. I don’t think we’ll have “Wheels” Wallner to worry about much longer. He’s bringing nothing, night after night.
  6. It’s not a bad idea to try Sim in the bullpen, but I wouldn’t automatically expect him to be successful there. He just can’t put guys away, whether it’s 1st or 2nd time through the order.
  7. Larnach covering a lot ground there. He’s been solid .
  8. Perez has the looks of a guy who might literally be un-hittable for a game somewhere in his career. That’s a scary arsenal, when it’s on.
  9. Said it then, still feel it now: the Varland trade not only made no tactical sense but also came across as a big middle finger to the fanbase.
  10. Absolutely zero reason to sign no upside guys like Garcia. Zero. A competitive team doesn’t have a spot for guys at that stage, non-competitive teams probably should look at the young pitchers in their systems.
  11. Funny thing is that he might be our closer by or after the trade deadline. And before someone jumps in with, “but he doesn’t have a profile that fits that role “, I’ll ask: who on this team does?
  12. Although nothing great, for me he makes enough plays at 3rd to get by, assuming he wasn’t almost a complete zero at the plate as he’s trending toward. It’s truly astonishing that all those coaches and people in a position to work with him on his approach to hitting can’t or won’t get through to him. Watching him it looks like he is starting over from scratch, with mechanics, pitch recognition, count awareness, etc. every plate appearance. Too bad there isn’t anyone in the organization to help with that, or maybe he’s just not willing to be coached.
  13. Lewis driving the ball with authority I see . Guy needs a massive reset. Or change of scenery. Or new face paint motif.
