  1. Well, it would be a good time for some quality plate appearances
  2. I was hoping for a bat at the deadline but I guess there was too much demand and the price too high given the number of buyers.
  3. I’m not so sure what Martin’s role should be anymore.
  4. I had a rough day, and was hoping to end on a high note. Nope. Bad Joe Ryan Experience, baffled (again) by the Dobber Curiosity, requisite sketchy plays in the field, and another exclamation point on Roger’s flagging career.
  5. Rogers is a LOOGY except the league doesn’t allow that plus he doesn’t really get lefties out anymore. Need that on the roster.
  6. Was there a memo to stop challenging bad ball/strike calls? I’ve seen at 3 tonight that could have been overturned.
  7. I don’t know exactly what it is but Keaschall doesn’t run “smoothly “ a lot of the time
  8. And suddenly Ryan is the most hittable pitcher in our rotation?
  9. Got a feeling that we’re going tee off 2nd time through the order. Regression gonna be a b**** for the Dobber.
  10. Soler, as a (very) poor man’s George Springer: maybe. No way on Garver, nostalgia wouldn’t fix the fact that he’s in serious decline and would only add to flawed roster construction. Refsyder? He had a nice moment or two but I think that ship sailed a while ago.
  11. In a macro sense the moves are commensurate with an 80-ish win team that might squeak into a wild card spot, and likely get bounced. Honestly, that’s more than I imagined coming out of ST. So I’m pretty OK with moves that don’t further erode fan support and obviously weaken the team for the future. Go Big? Naw, not really. Wasn’t the year for that IMO.
  12. Hey this was really helpful. As fans we probably all have a different idea of how this process works; this outline shows the process isn’t as random or chaotic as it may appear on Deadline Day. Regardless how how we may feel about Falvey’s time here, it sounds like he was pretty gracious in sharing his insights/experiences.
  13. It’s such a different development path for catcher given the rigors of the position, how they have work so closely with the eccentricities and nuances of all the different pitchers. I’m biased I know, but I tend to cut any MLB catcher a lot of slack. Even AJ Pirzinski. Maybe.
