  1. Remember the old signs at the Metrodome that said "Hey Hrbek, buy a vowel." Good times.
  2. it was a perfect game. Perfect because the Twins won.
  3. He's only given up two runs in 1.1 innings. Still better than Turley. So, yep.
  4. I thought his numbers were pretty good in triple A also. I wonder if he's one of those people that just cannot handle the pressure of MLB. I feel bad for the guy but if you can't do the job, well, it's time to find another job.
  5. It's going to be one of those games. That last hit wasn't much of a hit. Found some grass, though.
  6. Great, a banner ad just went across in front of Boshers on my computer: "Winning never gets old." Sigh.
  7. Not sure Mr. Turley has either of those pitches.
  8. What, and risk this game rising from the ashes? Not me...
  9. Hey, I was pining for the days of Nick Blackburn a few days ago. He'd look pretty good as 4th starter right now.
  10. Well, the Twins have tried "Nik" and we see how that's worked out, so, what the heck.

  12. Stretch out Boshers and put him in the rotation?
  13. Good grief, I was catching up on comments and the score was 4-0 Sox and when I checked back, it was 5-0 Sox. Time to sneak another peek.
  14. Still a great story. And I imagine Nolan Ryan might just have hurt rather than warned. By the way, from the way Jack Morris talks, he was a surly curmudgeon at a young age, say about 23.
  15. What some devious relatives did with a spurious document and a rich dead uncle?
  16. I think cobbler is quite healthy enough, what with all the fruit and stuff without going overboard and introducing vegetables and whatnot.
  17. Speaking of signs, I loved Berts anecdote last night regarding the stealing of signs. According to Bert, and he cleaned it up, he once told a runner on second to quit relaying signs or someone was going to get hurt.
  18. I prefer the Calvin Coolidge method: "I have never been hurt by anything I didn't say." And then there's also this Coolidge truism: "If you don't say anything, you won't be called on to repeat it."
  19. I would be surprised if I even speak 10,000 words a day. Of course, since I have a voice made for mime and a face made for radio....(H/T the late Ron Luciano)
  20. The great thing about chatter is that if the chatter stops, you know somethings wrong.
  21. Uh, the new commissioner is considering starting extra inning games with a runner on second. Not really seeing the problem.
