  1. You're supposed to seek medical attention after getting bitten by a spider? I think I preferred my ignorance as I've been gotten a couple of times by those nasty little arachnids.
  2. Well, shoot. I was hoping to see Granite. But, if Mauer is going to the DL, Vargas makes sense.
  3. It's funny, I was ready to see Mauer go at the beginning of the season. But, Mauer seems to have turned a corner and now I don't like seeing him out. Anyway, let's hope this is another of the Twins excellent young position players. The Twins may have trouble with pitching but they sure have produced some position players lately.
  4. From Indie ball to All Star. Good job, Mr. Kintzler!
  5. I could hear Smalley cringe with some of the pitches the Orioles players put in play. Sounded like Roy wanted no part of standing in against Kintzler tonight.
  6. Although, we've not seen as many birds lately, well, other than doves. Once in a great while, I'll catch an owl roosting in the top of one of our trees. It's interesting to see a barrel of feathers perched on the very top of a tree. And, I saw a hawk take a dove in our backyard a few weeks ago. I saw a pile of feathers on the ground, wondered what was going on and wandered up just in time to see the hawk take off with its prey. Pretty much how nature works. Get lots of prey and the predators show up.
  7. No doubt. I like the rotation the Twins seem to have in the booth now, with Morris, Bert, Hunter, Smalley and Hawkins.
  8. And, unfortunately, Smalley will continue to talk the subject beyond the point where the audience starts to nod off.
  9. Flashes of the future of the Twins. The young core comes through.
  10. Doves, probably the dumbest bird I've ever run across. Pigeons, though, not much more than winged rats. Anyway, and I cannot remember what they are, but my wife and I catch site of a flock of tropical birds on occasion. We think they must have escaped from somewhere and bred, because they certainly are not native to Bakersfield. It's amusing to see these brightly colored birds that look like they belong in a movie that is set in the tropics hanging around our redwoods.
  11. What, are you some kind of weirdo? You need a reason to eat fried chicken?
  12. At least you have the memories to draw upon.
  13. as in "Boom, Chachalakas?" We'll have to get Bill Veeck right on it.
  14. Grudgingly, I have to give Mr. Molitor credit for not pulling Santana. That was fun to watch.
  15. I like Morris, but only in small doses. A couple of series and I'm ready for a fresh voice.
  16. Is it me or does Pujols run like he's attached to a boat anchor? I've watched that man "run" a couple of times and it looks painful, to be honest.
  17. Wow, the Angels Announcers are trying really really hard to put lipstick on the pig of a contract the Angels are paying Pujols. They were just going on and on about the 600th home run Pujols hit against Santana. Someone should point out to the announcers that 600th home run was a month ago and since then, Pujols has managed on 3 more to bring his season total to 12. The Angels are paying a lot of money for a one dimensional player. I admit, I griped a lot about Mauer and his contract compared to his hitting. (although, this year, Mauer seems to be putting all that behind him) Mauer's contract is a bargain compared to what the Angels are paying Pujols.
  18. Then, he has a chance. Not bad for a guy that was playing indie ball a couple of years ago.
  19. Gibson pitches the seventh? And it is. Get them, Gibson!
  20. While I really like the bunt with a man on second and no outs, I like the "Buxton hits it out of the park" strategy even better.
  21. You'll be irritated with them too. They were harping on a pitch that was outside being called a strike meanwhile their guy got an extra strike and put one into the seats.
