  1. Les Straker. Balked in the World Series. Felt bad for the guy, but, hey, he did get a ring.
  2. I think if Garver is average defensively but has a better bat, Garver stays. But, it's an opinion, which, we all know what that's worth.
  3. I'll be the Padres are excited to play again tomorrow!
  4. Another record breaking evening for the home town nine.
  5. Meanwhile, the little fact that Gibson pitched 6 shutout innings will be lost. I really hope this means Gibson has turned the corner. He's turned in some dandy starts the last few times out.
  6. I like the way Mr. Dozier showed some team spirit by leaving that RBI for Mr. Polanco.
  7. I'll see your "rotivator" and raise you a "turbo encabulator."
  8. 5. Road Rage – On my way home from work yesterday… some guy was texting and driving and he drifted into my lane so I shouted at him, “Stop texting and pay attention!” He shouted back… “Go to Hell!” and took off down the road. I walked into the house and told my wife that I was just told to go to hell by a crazy driver and she replied… “And you came straight to me.” Sounds like RB has taught Mrs. RB well.
  9. "Interesting." Yes, that's one way to put it.
  10. If the sac bunt strategy is based on a flawed premise, which, from what I've read, it is, then it doesn't matter how many times the sac bunt has been implemented. What needs to be looked at is when the bunt was attempted and by what player. From what I've seen this year, the sac bunt is almost automatic with Molitor, if it's late in the game, runner on first, no one out..no matter who is at the plate. I've linked to it before, but Bill James Online did some number crunching and came to the conclusion the sac bunt has very limited value and tends to be a wast of outs.
  11. So, was the "sacrifice bunting" mention a throw away line or meant ironically?
  12. Seth, Molitor, if I remember correctly, was brought in because Gardenhire was to "old school" and not keeping up with the changes in the way the game is managed. Yet, I can point to more than a few games where Molitor did old-school managing rather than doing something a little different. For instance, in a couple of games, Molitor could have given up the DH, late in the game, so he had the best defensive alignment available in the field. Moves that, had Molitor made them, could very well have been the difference between winning and losing. And the constant bunting thing, especially with some of the hottest hitters the Twins have, is ridiculous. Bill James online did a study on bunting and came to the conclusion the chances of scoring from 1st or 2nd is about the same, percentage wise and sacrificing the runner over is a waste of a very precious commodity, outs. See here: http://www.billjamesonline.com/stats33/
  13. Yeah, Rosario should be this cold in the future.
  14. KC keeps it up, they're going to have to install a revolving door in their bullpen.
  15. It is a tool, and sometimes a valuable tool. For instance, if I'm wondering what Molitor was thinking batting Niko Goodrum in the DH spot versus a right-hander, I might be able to ask him about that postgame. But that is a small part of what creates quality content. And infinitely overrated. ------------------------------------------------- Actually, I want to know what Molitor was thinking, batting a rookie behind someone who hasn't hit all year. If the Twins weren't in a race for a wild card spot, it would be understandable. But with things the way they are, I think it's inexcusable.
  16. Make that the tying run at 3rd with two out and the bases loaded. Edit: Texas holds on to win.
  17. I've been listening to Bremer talk about the wonderful job Molitor has done, yet, I look at today and have to wonder if Molitor understands the team is in a playoff hunt and this isn't the time to bat a rookie behind someone else who isn't hitting.
  18. I'm a bit slow today, I admit. In retrospect, it should have been obvious from the beginning playing Goodrum and Gimenez wasn't a good idea.
  19. As glad as I am that Goodrum is up, I'm not happy Gimenez and Goodrum are both in the lineup.
  20. Crud, that was hard to watch.
  21. The Royals have not scored a run since the 6th inning last night, against the Twins. Meanwhile, the Twins have scored 20 runs against the Royals since the 6th inning last night. Small samples size says things are not trending well for the Royals. Hopefully, Mr. Santana is on top of his game tomorrow night and the bad trend for the Royals continues.
  22. Let's add to the weirdness: Gibson struck out 2 in the first inning. Had 5 strikeouts through first 3 innings, I believe.
