  1. Paredes will still be pitching the 3rd inning
  2. gameday says the game is going to resume soon
  3. first rehab game, probably just want to see him hitting first then will probably catch in his next one depending on how he feels after today
  4. way the broadcast made it sound, they're trying to set him up properly as a reliever, trying to put him in less clean innings to get him used to higher leverage moments
  5. hopefully it's not too long, having to rely on the twins bullpen for 6 innings doesn't give too much confidence
  6. they're wearing cole down, but outside of the solo home run, it hasn't really led to much
  7. now that the scripted Grisham return home run is gone, surely the yankees will go quiet from here
  8. Lucky for Paredes today, the Yankees aren't as pesky and annoying when it comes to chasing as the Rockies are and whiff more than they do too. But they do hit the ball the hardest out of anyone, hopefully he's learned some things after having to deal with one of the more annoying teams at the plate.
  9. It's absolutely for the best he stays up, sure you could keep him in St. Paul to build him up for longer outings if you want to use him as a starter in case of future injuries or a possible trade at the deadline, but some of the metrics in St. Paul obviously didn't carry over to the majors yet. His Sweeper had an insane 45% whiff rate in St. Paul with a 41% chase rate while so far has only been able to get 23% whiff in the majors with a 34% chase rate. His other pitches have actually managed to tick up in whiff rate in the majors which is an interesting development, but the almost half drop with his sweeper has led to his overall whiff rate dropping. Having him in St. Paul I don't think will improve how he works his pitches in the majors, letting him face major league level talent and working on the right way to use his stuff to fool batters is the only real path to let him develop properly. I don't think his current issue is a stuff issue, it's a matter of optimization at this point and sending him down to face AAA batters won't improve that.
  10. I do think he is a few tweaks away from really breaking out. His stuff has steadily been profiling better across his appearances alongside the fact that he's going longer into appearances, and his velocity was up yesterday across the board too. Just something needs to be done to improve his approach against guys to really optimize the use of that stuff. I think a team as aggressive as the rockies was a good learning experience despite what the rockies' record suggests, they were going after everything he offered(43 chase% in Saturday's game) and you could see one wrong choice would get punished quickly
  11. I think it's in reference to the fact that he's had like 9 days of rest between his most recent start and today, it's led to him having good results today, but I don't feel like that's a sustainable schedule for a starting pitcher
  12. I want to know who was telling the pitchers to pitch up against Goodman, Maki? Caratini? The pitchers themselves making that decision? All of the three home runs came from pitching up against him, even outside of the zone he managed to launch it but then the two times they pitched down against him, Paredes got a first pitch ground out and Raya struck him out. Granted Funderburk's was a middle middle 90 MPH sinker that anyone would've blasted, but who's scouting told them pitching up was the answer against him?
  13. I pointed this out in the game thread, but I think Paredes has a sequencing issue happening. A lot of opportunities where he found himself way ahead in the count but couldn't close it out. His stuff profiled better than normal looking at the statcast data, but some questionable choices ahead in the count led to multiple times where he got punished hard for it. He knows how to get ahead, he has been able to throw quality stuff, but they need to fix the way he approaches some of those at bats and then you'll have a solid guy.
  14. he had better options available today yet went with Funderburk, if guys from yesterday were still available like he was, would've rather Morris got a second appearance than him at least
  15. funderburk yes, Raya not really. both are kind of on the same level at the moment
  16. The Rockies have a top 10 offense in the league, stat wise, it's their pitching that has been holding them back, unfortunately, their pitching has managed to outdo the twins, who have also managed to be top 10 offensively...
  17. His stuff profiles better than SWR, so at least you can say it's more doable to work out.
  18. I think Paredes has a pitch sequence issue, lots of times he's ended up in 0-2, 1-2 counts but can't manage to find the right pitch to strike out with
  19. hard to rally against a pitcher with an ERA just under 7 and a BAA over .300
  20. more locked in now? maybe just intentionally walk goodman next time around and things will be good?
  21. the first one was a sweeper that hung pretty poorly, this one was an outside of the zone fastball. All of the rockies' hits have been on pitches outside the zone
