  1. Next years top 100 Twins Sano- will be out of the sophomore slump and slugging HRs at a pace the national media will notice Buxton- will light up ESPN with some defensive outfield plays and his speed on the base paths Berrios- will be highlighted on ESPN 2-3 times for Ks in a game and a couple of no hitters through the 6th or 7th inning. He will either make the bottom of the 100 or be an honorable mention.
  2. Surprised he was that high. I know he was elite for his years pre concussion but thought there would be more #1 overall picks that could beat him out. With our disappointment over him becoming an Average Joe, we forget how great he was as a catcher...
  3. I was just looking at the Rochester roster. Currently they have 2 listed outfielders and none listed as CF. (I assume that Rosario is in center...) They also only have 24 men on the roster, no third basemen (Buck Britton and Stephen Wickens have both spent 100+ innings at third and Briton has more than that in the OF) or Short Stops listed (Wilfredo Tovar has 400+ innings at SS and appears to be the primary SS atm) but they do have 6 second basemen listed (Polanco has spent almost all of his time here and none at SS).
  4. This is actually a major part of why I started this topic. I also thought an interesting discussion could be had around the chain effect of promotions. Like Shane, there are so many at CR that I think are deserving of a promotion but there is talent in front of them. Are those people in front of them ready for promotion also? Is there someone ahead of them that deserves a cut? The Lamonte Wade discussion at the moment is the most interesting to me. Some of those in between Wade and Buxton/Kepler/Mastro probably are not ready for either a promotion this early in the season but also have not earned a cut. The injuries in the 25 man roster may be pushing the issue and releiving the necessity of a cut temporarily.
  5. Looks like Shane and I also need to pay more attention to the minors this year. Ouch, I feel embarrassed that I didn't catch those
  6. Brett Lee? I was really rooting for that guy 2 years ago... Looks like you need to cut one more at MLB level and 2 at Rochester still but I like the promotions.
  7. Extended Spring Training
  8. Promote LaMonte Wade Cut Mastroianni I was gonna say Buxton to MLB but he's up so I have to go with Kepler to the Show Daniel Palka to AAA Max Murphy to AA Wade to Fort Meyers, Uh....Who's at EST? I will have to research that part more...where is the EST roster?
  9. Lets play a game called Promote and Cut. Here is how it works, Select a player needing promotion. Make room for him by cutting someone above him and then promote the string to fill out ALL the rosters. Then let everyone else discuss your moves. Here is and outline Promote LaMonte Wade Cut Darren Mastroianni Promote ? to Twins Promote ? to Rochester Promote ? to Chatanooga Promote Wade to Fort Meyers Promote ? to Cedar Rapids Now you have to promote an outfielder at every level to fill Mastro's spot and someone has to come from EST to fill the hole left in Cedar Rapids by the promotions. See, the game is easy!! (once someone does the hard work and all you have to do is criticize someone elses string of moves) Lets Play!!
  10. I had the same question. Thanks for asking and thanks for the answer. That makes more sense.
  11. Still similar numbers offensively with a 193/252/259 slash line with 135 at bats. He only committed two more errors since the last update so that is improvement. He has been at SS for all 301 innings so far this year.
  12. Cavaness isn't no longer with Cedar Rapids but is back on the Extended Spring Training list.
  13. He will be there around the time they make cuts and moves to accommodate the new draftees
  14. Welcome aboard!!
  15. Thank you for all this info!! Most interesting read on TD I have seen in the last couple of weeks! Thank you!!
  16. May 23rd TD MiLB hitter of the day with a walk off homer for Cedar Rapids, his third of the year. Zander leads the Kernels in games (41), at bats (160), runs (24T), triples (4T), And stolen bases (4T). He's now hitting a respectable 275/352/406 (758). He has spent all 368 of his innings at 1B with 3 errors for a 992 fielding %. As SD Buhr pointed out, one would want more than the 3 career homers from a 1B prospect but he is putting up decent numbers otherwise. Does anyone have a scouting report that would show his power potential?
  17. There is a thread in the minor league forum about prospects that should be promoted. Arraez is one I would put on the list. Hitting 325/388/442 and an 830 OPS with 8 doubles and two homers. Luis also has limited the Ks to 15 in 120 AB. He has 216 innings at 2B and 23 at 3rd with one error at each. It is time soon for him to try the next level.
  18. Valera has 28 innings at both 2nd and 3rd, 34 innings at Catcher and 80 in LF. He has committed 5 errors, 2 in LF, 2 at 3B and one at 2B. He's hitting 261/366/409 (775) with 9 doubles and 4 triples in 115 at bats. Valera has not hit a professional HR. He has been caught stealing all 3 times he tried to swipe a bag. He has 30K to go with 17BB. I would say by the numbers, he's not dominating low A but at least he is surviving while showing some position flegibility. He already has more triples than in any other season and his slugging is up because of it even if his other stats are similar to past seasons (he is usually much more successful at swiping bases)
  19. 221/295/329 in 140 At Bats. JJ has struck out 36 times and committed 3 errors...just not a lot to get excited about... He has spent the vast majority of his time in RF but one of his three errors was at first base. (The other two were in Right) During his 8 innings behind the dish he also managed a passed ball. Wow, most of these updates I'm doing lately are not very exciting are they
  20. 190/296/220 in 100 at bats. Hey! No errors!
  21. 7 days later... TDs MILB hitter of the day with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs A 240 Batting Average is an improvement and closer to what we would expect. , His 314 OBP and 504 Slugging is more what we were looking for and the new 818 OPS is 18 points over his career average. Concerns? He's striking out at record pace (for him at least). In 125 AB, he has 61 strike outs and 14 walks... Can a guy strike out 250 times in a year, maintain an 800+ OPS, and get a Sept. Cup of coffee? Hmmmmm
  22. May 20 Minor league hitter of the day: 2 Home Runs, 6 RBIs will do that for you. Now at 280/362/440 (802) in 50 ABs
  23. It has been said elsewhere that teams just don't trade in April-May. When we get into friendlier trade months, I would not be surprised to see some IF players traded and players start to move up. These moves will probably coincide with the draft.
