  1. Great outing tonight. 6 innings, 6K's and 1 hit. Call him up! The Twins need a real Starter.
  2. Is there any word on Lewis and where he might be posted? I'm assuming he's headed to Elizabethtown?
  3. Thanks, great report. How long before the twins call him up? Personally, I don't see any reason to rush him. However, I expect the Twins have a different idea. They are likely to be desperate to have some reason for fans to fill the seats. Starting pitching has been terrible, but pitching in 40 degree weather is a tough standard.
  4. It can be with some of the crappy free agents we sign.
  5. The Twins have always had a mind numbing affinity for age. Case in point, allowing Bartlett to take a spot on the team when he couldn't find a bat in spring training, let alone hit something with it. They just do not trust youth, or maybe the don't trust strangers. It is going to be fun to watch our old white guy management team release their old white marginal player friends to make room for about 6 to 10 young fire breathing Latinos. It'll be even more fun to watch the results on the field. To managements credit, however, they knew this day was coming or they wouldn't have invested $ millions in these young players.
  6. Another exciting day to watch our pitching prospects, with both Meyer and Stewart starting, weather permitting, of course. Speaking of prospects has anything come out of Ft Myers about Lewis Thorpe's spring?
  7. Buxton? Who are you kidding? A slight wrist sprain, "He's day to day." Is now 4 weeks and won't play until May, "We're being cautious." Is this another example of the Twins great medical team at work? Remember a Guy named Sano who had a sore elbow? "He'll rest it over the winter?" Then when spring training arrived, Tommy John surgery.
  8. Boy oh boy, you people must be on downers. The Twins are leading the majors in scoring. Haven't you heard we've turned the corner in 2014?
  9. I don't know that I have ever rooted for a player as hard as I am rooting for Colabello this year. This could just be the Cinderella story of the year. I find myself turning on MLB on my iPhone when I can best guess that Chris is due to bat. Kinda crazy.
  10. Yesterday was why I subscribed to Milb. Being able to watch Myer and follow Stewart was very interesting. Will be interesting to see how Stewart and Berrios progress. Also how the Twins treat their starts. For example, when there are a few days of rain will the starts of these two be given priority? Don't know if teams do these kinds of things for those they have identified as having particular potential. Also how many very good starts before either might he moved. I know I'm getting ahead but how the Twins handle these two will be really interesting. Particularly, with Stewart, who now for the first time is just a baseball player, and could prove to be over matched for his current assignment. Again, I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but you know the Twins have already thought about the possibilities.
  11. Pitchers day today. Meyer and Stewart both scheduled for their first start today. This probably means that someone we've never heard of will be Seth's minor league "pitcher of the day", but I guess not.
  12. A situation is unfolding that has the potential to create a major change to the personality of the Twins. To be clear, I happen to think this could be a very good thing, but it's not something that's easily discussed. The following could have major roles (likely starters): 1B. Vargas -Puerto Rico 2B. Rosario - Puerto Rico SS. Santana - Dominican Republic 3B. Sano - Dominican Republic RF. Arcia - Venezuala C. Pinto - Venezuela Six of eight fielders could soon be Latin. This could certainly have an impact on the quiet personality of our usual "Minnesota Nice" team. It will certainly require changes in the approach of field management. None of this is bad, in my opinion, but I am surprised I haven't seen it discussed. It also isn't anything different than most other teams are finding.
  13. Very disappointing loss, no doubt. I, too, expect this will be a long season of heartbreaking losses. Today, however was only one game. My concern is that the loss was partly caused by a failure in fundamentals. Watching base runners, rushing a throw to the plate on a dead runner, pitcher and first baseman not communicating well on a runner going to first. These kinds of things seemed to happen more seldom under Tom Kelly. Is this possibly a reflection on coaching?
  14. Thanks, Seth. Was it in his throwing hand? Would probably make for a longer healing process.
  15. Colabello. This guy is the epitome of someone waiting a long time to finally live their dream. He posted such crazy numbers that eventually the Twins finally couldn't ignore him any longer. Talk about pressure.
  16. Byron has not played in almost 4 weeks. He is expected to return to extended spring training in a week or two. All of this for a "minor sprain". I hope this is just a case of the twins exercising extreme precaution and not another Sano kind of mis-diagnosis or non-diagnosis. Has anyone seen any recent info?
  17. Here's my take and I'm sorry it's so down. lKubel, Bartlett and Willingham, each has a major role to play with the Twins this year as our favorite team makes an attempt to once again be able to hit its way out of a paper bag. Each is past their prime and is coming off one or more very disappointing years. What is the likelihood of a turnaround for any of these players? Probably not very high. But I am hoping. In addition the remainder of the lineup has demonstrated an inability to be productive. No one on the roster hit 20 HR's last year in the majors. There are three hopes for production on the team. Pinto, Collabello and Arcia. But each if these is effectively a rookie and, of these, only Arcia is likely to start. It will be very interesting, if the offense is as bad as it could very well be, to see how the team reacts. Do they drop experienced players who demonstrate that they are not getting "IT" back? Do they make a move to youth? Do they make a move at the skipper level? I certainly do not have any recommendations, but our beloved Twins have the potential to get off to a very bad start. Perhaps we should hope that our revised starting rotation can each have a Cy Young year. Yeah, that's the ticket. Maybe we enjoy our move toward another top 5 draft pick and burn up our MILB subscription enjoying our great prospects in the Minors.
  18. Our minor leaguers better pack lightly, because unless out ML staff starts tossing no hitters we are not likely to win many games. We may be calling people up at a record pace this year.
  19. When will team assignments be released for minor leaguers?
  20. Thanks. The stuff you learns when ya goes to da right places. It's really appreciated by a newbie that's never been to spring training.
  21. Hicks, after yesterday's 4 for 4 performance, certainly has to have sewn up the CF starting position. As to Kubel and Bartlett, they were dropped by previous teams for lack of performance. Nothing, and I mean nothing, has left room to suspect anything else is forthcoming. I just do not understand Gardy's penchant for sticking with the familiar, even when they no longer produce. It's not like he's putting his sons-in-law out on the street. These guys have made fortunes. It's just, IMHO, time to begin the transition to the next generation.
  22. Where can I find the daily box scores for the various Twin minor league teams? Neither MLB. com or MILB seem to have them. Trying to find out how our prospects are doing this spring.
  23. We all know about the top of the list prospects, but Thorpe & Polanco are the two that I will follow closely.
  24. Clearly, he's a man of few words.
  25. How about this. The Twins are doing it just right. This is their last year to stockpile a very high draft pick so let's not spend an extra $30 million to go from a top 4 to 7 pick to a top 15 pick. That would make zero sense. All the excitement about our prospects will keep the wolves at bay. Next year our drafting begins to pay off. Buxton, Sano, Pinto and Rosario could be in the lineup, with Maye starting and Stewart and a few other pitchers showing well in the high minors. This is the year to watch the minors and next year begins the pay off at Target Field.
