  1. Well...another oh hum day for our guy. 6 IP, 0 ER's. Now 9-3 with a 1.93 ERA. Boy, I sure hope they don't force him up too quickly. Probably has too much Left to learn at this level.
  2. The Buxton-Sano pair is what has me so excited. Both are described a driven hard working and willing to learn. Buxton is the quiet lead by example 5 tool superstar. Sano is the vocal team leader larger than life superstar. Equally importantly, the injuries seem to have given them a chance to bond. This has the potential (for now it's only potential) for one amazing dynamic duo. The two have the potential to be starters in the All-Star game together for a decade or more.
  3. I just noticed in looking at his last 10 games that the first of these was the "bad" one. In the last 9 games he's 7-1 with an ERA of 1.24 and never given up more than 2 runs in any game. Crazy, crazy numbers, yet here he sits.
  4. Seth, thanks for all your reports. In response to your question, I haven't the foggiest idea, though I hope for continued dominance. The real point is that he has earned the opportunity whatever the outcome. At this point the Twins are almost to the point where they are cheating him.
  5. Well, it continues. Tonight 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 hits, 8 K's, 0 BB's. They just must promote him. What can possibly be the reason to hold him back now?
  6. "There is no reason, at his age and experience, to rush him to AA." Maybe true, but more importantly, given his record there is no reason to keep him where he is.
  7. You mean to tell me he's still in Elizabethtown? After a night like he had? Typical Twins act, holding back someone just because they're young.
  8. Wow! I haven't seen him but he's had an amazing run, and only just 20 g2 weeks ago). His line reads as though he's 28 pitching against 19 year olds. Last 10 games has a 1.56 ERA and only 1 game with more than 2 earned runs and that was 3. I know there's a "normal" progression, but how dominant must he be before they ratchet up the competition with a promotion?
  9. Sano is a full sized young man. However, am I alone in expecting him to look just a tad more cut? Also, is it a real good idea for a $ multi-million prospect to be eating fish he and his friends caught out of a drainage ditch along side an urban Florida road? Jeesh!
  10. This is spectacular news. Clearly the Twins and Nick wanted to get busy. The Elizabeth announcement may be an indication just how much Twins Mgmt believes in this pick. Also coming from Florida he shouldn't have too much difficulty learning the language (Minnesotan), eh?
  11. What's the latest on Byron's return? He's now out about 50 games with a "Minor wrist strain".
  12. The rate at which we injure our outfielders he could be up by next Thursday. Jeesh.
  13. Another good night to watch the ticker. Both Meyer for Rochester and Hurlbut for the Miracle will start. Hurlbut, of course, is one of those starters that cannot strike out anyone. He just seems to get a lot of people out. We all know about Meyer. Fun to see if the amazing Meyer is the one who shows up tonight.
  14. None. I made up a list and looked each one up separately. If I was creating a list to prove a point, Koufax, Ryan & Clemens would never have appeared.
  15. I've always thought the weight put on pitchers K's per 9 innings was one of the most overrated things in baseball. So I went to the Baseball almanac and looked up several H of F pitchers. Names and (K's per 9). Blyleven (6.7), Clemens (8.6), Drysdale (6.5), Ford (5.6), Glaven (5.3), Hunter (5.3), Walter Johnson (5.3), Koufax 9.0), Maddux (6.1), Palmer (5.0), Ryan(9.5), Spahn (4.4). Draw your own conclusions, I guess, but there's a lot of number 1's here that might not get out of low "A" ball by today's standards. I think I'd be glad to have Warren Spahn, Walter Johnson, Dan Glaven and Jim Palmer as my top starters. I'll take a chance when I need a fifth man. Remember, also, most of these men pitched every 4 days and most outlasted today's over managed pitchers.
  16. This is why I wouldn't be surprised to see him move up. He just might have too much "stuff" for the opposition. Not enough to miss the bats but enough to eliminate solid hits. I was wondering if a couple more of these starts might cause them to move him up for a more stern test. I, too, think K's are way overrated at this level. This is a learning curve he's on and I'd expect that they are mandating he throws so many non-heat pitches. Learn to throw his junk pitches for strikes and learn to deliver them in the clutch. In any case it's sure fun to follow.
  17. Is there any where to read about his pitch count, pitch speed and mix of pitches?
  18. Another very good outing for Stewart. 6 innings. 4 hits. 1 run (earned). ERA now down to 2.21. Another game he will be no decision due to lack of support. A couple more starts like this and the Twins might conclude that he's too much for what he's facing. Last five starts 27 innings with 2 earned runs. Methinks that's an o.66 ERA. Nicely done, Kohl!
  19. With a little luck, and we have some coming, the Twins could have a very strong rotation in three years.
  20. If they choose one to lose it has to be Kubel. I still think Colabello is a work in progress with some upside. I appreciate all Kubel has done for the Twins, but I fear his career is over.
  21. Buck is out of the lineup again, 2nd straight. Is there news behind this?
  22. What's going in with Twin's instructional coaching? Wimmers was the victim last night of 5, count 'em, 5 errors and 9 unearned runs. I don't have access to the statistics, but it seems, from looking at the box scores that the Twins minor league teams have an awful lot of errors. Also, they left Wimmers in the game long enough to give up an 11 run 4th inning. I know, 9 were unearned, but he faced 24 batters and gave up 11 hits and a walk. Were they trying to make a case about something? Just seems a bit unusual.
  23. Another good performance by Kohl. 5 innings, 0 earned Runs. In his last 4 starts he's got an ERA less than 1 (.75). Looks like Twins are being careful by holding him to 5 innings. i'm surprised his control is this good this early. He certainly looks to be the real deal, but waaay too early make any forecasts.
  24. Is there any word on when Buxton might return to active status?
  25. Truly an amazing night for prospect pitching. WOW!
