  1. Sano playing today. A walk & 2 RBI single.
  2. Jeff Smith is (supposed to be) the adult in this situation and he needs to get control of this. If it's necessary they should move Sano to Rochester before they lose all control of young Mr. Sano. This is the point in his career where his attitude is set. This does not seem like it's going we'll at all.
  3. I get the need to get Sano to understand the significance of show boating. But I just checked the lineup and he's out for the 4th game. I apologize if something is posted I haven't seen, but this is starting to develop an odor. 4 games is waaay beyond a reasoned response. What's really going on here?
  4. Buxton hits 2 triples.
  5. Don't worry about Gardy, he'll be gone before Sano gets to the bigs. As to what Sano did, the delay getting to first seemed excessive and called for a response. You do not see the quality teams or players showing people up. I hate the Yankees but they don't do things like that. Neither do the Dodgers. Did Bonds? yeah, and I rest my case. Sano seems to have a lot of emotion in his game. That's great but it needs to be positively directed. A little showboating now and who knows what in 2 or 3 years. Remember, he was ejected earlier in the year for similar actions.
  6. Buxton has finally hit the first full season slump. The last ten games he's hitting about .145, or so. Be ey to see how handles it. I, for ne, wonder why he seems to hav never attempted to bunt his way on base.
  7. Is Stewart scheduled to pitch today? Also, the first 3 outings he was in for 3 innings. Is this an inning count or a pitch count thing or some combination? He long before these limits are raised?
  8. A single...wow, that's 4 hits in the last 8 games! Hey! He's hitting 500
  9. Another good outing for Stewart. 3 innings 0 runs 2 hits 1 BB & 2 K's. ERA now 1.13. Move him up to the majors right now Ryan! You can't keep holding him back.
  10. Must have a lot of miles on that F150 already. What with driving from Ft. Myers to Georga twice a week to cut the grass.
  11. Cindy Crawford batting second? I'll buy a ticket.
  12. A question from someone in blissful ignorance. Sano and Buxton are moving up through the minors in hope, I guess, that their skills develop to the ML level. These two are unique talents as described by those who should know. My question is how successful have clubs been getting top prospects this experience in the majors? I understand with pitchers there is a chance of blowing out an arm trying to pitch to seriously advanced hitters. I don't see this with hitters. Are there any recent cases of someone being brought up WAY ahead of their normal schedule? If so, how did it work out?
  13. They need a new Manager and a new pitching coach. The team that was famous for executing the fundamentals no longer does that. A great hitter continues to cut his career short by catching. One of the worst pitching staffs over the last several years has been coached to not issue any walks. Let's find someone who can coach them to beat hitters. We've got a whole collection of young talent coming up, we need some new young blood to coach them. Hell bring Doug M in to run the team.
  14. Great article, but now how to keep the excitement in check. The comments about Buxton. "SuperMagicUnicornGood" from Jason Parks a top analyst is crazy. About Sano, he said, "The power s extreme and it made me question my religious beliefs." These are not comments about pretty good prospects. These are comments about off the chart (once in a decade or more) potential. WHEW!
  15. This is a special moment for we twins fans. The #1 & #3 prospects, plus Hicks, Arcia & Gibson already up. Then we also have Rosario, Cabela, Keplar, Stewaretc in the minors and we see a twins base more excited than at ant previous time I recall, even when Mauer was coming up. Back then we would check on his team to see how he did. Now, I'm not sure which box score should be checked first. Crazy to think about 2 or 3 years from now.
  16. Excuses about Sano's age are nonsense. If he's too young for double A move him back. The Twins moved him because they thought he was ready. At least so far, he was not. I expect he will prove to be able to hit at this level, but so far he has not. Except for a five game stretch it would be a real disaster. in Ft. Myers he hit 330 and had a 26% k ratio (based on AB's plus walks). In NB the numbers are 195 and 30.9%. The last 10 games the numbers are 194 and 35.3%. But that number is misleading because for the last nine games the numbers are 111 and 40%. This is professional baseball and results are the ONLY thing that counts. Is Sano still one of our 2 best prospects? Clearly yes. But do not ignore the depths to which he is struggling. Age, his very strange new environment, getting used to an increased skill level of opponents. These are all possible reasons. They are not, however, a reason to minimize what is going on. Sano is in the worst slump in his very short professional career and how he reacts, both production wise and emotionally is very critical. How the Twins react will be equally interesting. This is great kabuki, and I am very hopeful that the turnaround will be shortly at hand. I love this young man's skills.
  17. Sano's performance in NB has to have the organization going NUTS! His K ratio is over 35% and this is after 0 K's yesterday. He's being fooled by junk. I've watched most games when they are on MILB and I'm shocked when anyone throws him a fastball strike.
  18. When the year began I was thinking Sano and hoping Buxton would get there. Now with his adaptation to "A" and then "A" advanced without a hiccup or without even a three game hittless period, Buxton has amazingly separated himself. Not just from Sano, but from the world. Sano, is also having a special year, but not on par with the Buxter. In many ways his production is superior (RBI & HR), and were they on the same teams having these years, Sano just might be MVP. However, the real issue is conversion to MLB super stardom. Here, Sano has more questions. Strikeouts, fielding & slumps all leave him w/more questions, IMHO.j l actually believe Sano will ultimately prove the better player, but my guess (based on absolutely nothing) is that the cultural issues need to be resolved before we see the real potential here. It's easy to forget that this is a kid plucked from the moon and placed into another world.
  19. Buxton cheated on the inside the park HR. He ran ran faster and straighter than they could run or throw.
  20. Kepler only4 for 4 tonight. Include a dbl & 2 RBI.
  21. Sano sat out tonight. PH in 9th, doubled in the winning run.
  22. Some very interesting problems (LOL) developing. Twins have many prospects who are developing faster and better than expected. We need to avoid the temptation of trading some of these prior to establishing just how much potential each has. Could be a real challenge as some minor league teams get over staffed in a few positions. If we end up with ten All Star center fielders it's going to be hard to play them on three or four minor league teams. Not the worst problem in the world!
  23. I have a serious question about our #1 (or is it 1a) prospect. Two years ago, he faded at the end of the year in Elizabethtown. He was still hitting HRs and getting RsBI, but his average fell sharply after mid-season then came back to about .292. His K ratio rose to 28.8%. The next year he sent the full year in Beloit. His average was a disappointing .258 and HS K ratio was a very high 31.5%. His power #'s, however were terrific. Now this year in high "A" and double "A" his numbers have gone through the roof. Combined average nearly .306, HR's up, RsBI up and K ratio down, but only fractionally. OBP up more than 20 pts. To what do we attribute this amazing change? He has clearly gone from a terrific power hitting prospect to a great all around prospect. Is it just maturity? Or have the Twin's really been spending time teaching him? Or, am I just over effusive in my evaluation of El Rey?
  24. What they attribute to "rest" is probably just basic work on form and delivery. I assume that most HS pitchers need some tweaking as to arm position, etc. My guess is that when these young guys make their first start the tendency is to try to impress and this presents a need to make sure of the fundamentals.
  25. Why did Walters start? I thought Gibson was supposed to go tonight.
