Give it a little time and we'll have a Culpepper at shortstop and another in the pen.

Appears comfortable now and it's showing up with a better approach at the plate.

It's great that you are giving us the probable starters, as the MiLB sites are pretty slow with that info. That's a big determinant for some of us that have a long drive to the minor league ballparks.

Music store reference is a good one. Sadly our bullpen is an oarfolkjokeopus...

Yes, how did Gabby look at first? Digging it out of the dirt is a sharp contrast to chasing down fly balls.

I don't miss Baldelli giving the premature hook...

I like Flora and I like Flukey. Going to be real interesting to see if Flukey still shows well after this injury and see where he ultimately lands on the boards. There could be a bargain to be had on that one.

Great read Jamie. It's going to be really fun watching this evolve.

One thing from Martin's minor league days is his willingness to take an HBP. The guy will do anything to get on base.

I talked to Soto in the stands in Ft. Myers. The kid is huge, but humble.

Good read on something we all dream about - starter upside. These 5 are going to be especially fun to follow this year and the last one (Soto) will be back on the field very soon.

Add to that, trading for a not so impressive Eric Wagaman as option #3. #disappointing...

Bell and Outman both looked very shaky on D this spring.

Saw him a half dozen times. I think both he and Lee looked better - both in range and in getting the throw off more quickly.

    Thanks for chiming in Nick.

Agreed, and absolutely Topa should not be an automatic. Terrible spring and long-standing habit of letting inherited runners score.

I have to think Altavilla is going make the cut. No mention of Laweryson?
  18. Peter Gravett
His ability to play center is overblown too. The guy can get to the ball, but drops playable balls more than Martin and Roden.
  19. Peter Gravett
Agreed. I have watched him plenty this spring. Rumors appear true, he looks overmatched everywhere but first.

Great access to the writers and outstanding beer. A good time was had by all!

Beyond the options considerations... Wagaman doesn't look very good anywhere in the field.

The Slim Reaper needs serious consideration. 3 pitch mix and reduced workload to assist with thoracic symptoms. Work up an entry video with theme song akin to what they did with Duran.
  23. Peter Gravett
He is the one starter that would benefit from a piggyback arrangement IMO.

Will definitely be less of a showcase spring training experience this year. But uncertainty and guys gone for the WBC will make for some meaningful competition for remaining spots. That will be pretty fun too.

    Thought-provoking Gregg. Fun discussion here.
