  1. The Slim Reaper needs serious consideration. 3 pitch mix and reduced workload to assist with thoracic symptoms. Work up an entry video with theme song akin to what they did with Duran.
  2. He is the one starter that would benefit from a piggyback arrangement IMO.
  3. Will definitely be less of a showcase spring training experience this year. But uncertainty and guys gone for the WBC will make for some meaningful competition for remaining spots. That will be pretty fun too.
  4. Agreed. Ross will go up to high-A immediately. Beyond that, Quick could make the jump ahead of any of the other holdovers. Big question on other starters is who bumps up and when to AA (Olivares? Langenburg? Bohorquez?) and AAA (Culpepper? Gallagher?). Should be be a lot of fun to watch it all shake out.
  5. Gabby is a platoon-ready pairing for Wallner. No question. Strong arm and he seriously trimmed down and bulked up last off-season. Watched these guys in FM multiple times. . . Soto is a beast, ready for a high-A breakout if bone spur procedure did the trick. Hill has got great stuff. Will be amazing once he gets command and learns how to field his position (sadly a lost art form). Quick, Elwanger, Reitz and Barr... this could be the best season yet as one of the low-A faithful.
  6. Agreed on Abel. Potential there for Bradley and the Slim Reaper too. Going to make for a fun Spring Training.
  7. Not to mention Martin's crazy high OBP over the years. Hes finally healthy and MLB -ready. And then there's Gonzalez break out last year. Both nice right-hand platoon options at minimum.
  8. High A-level player with cult hero potential - Adrian "the Bazooka" Bohorquez. $10K signing that throws 98mph. If he doesn't stick as a starter, they could work up a great entrance for him as a reliever. Almost as good as "the Slim Reaper ". Fun times ahead...
  9. I like the optimism on Morris here, the overshadowed arm - great control and competitive spirit makes for solid MLB starter potential.
  10. And we got one who is impressing thus far in Bohorquez for $10K.
  11. Daniel's was one of the draft picks I was most excited to see play for the Mussels this year. Much like Kiriloff, I wish him well.
  12. Hope they give KC a serious look in spring training. Yes his bat took the month of August off, but his bat and play in the field could fill holes both in the field and the batter's box.
  13. I like Olivar's bat, but having watched him plenty in the minors, he literally drops the ball all to frequently and he's slow to get out of the crouch. Not particularly athletic, its time to groom him for 1st base.
  14. Agreed on Gonzalez and Fedko in particular. Gonzalez has holes in his game, but in addition to his bat he's got a great arm, making him almost ready for a platoon role in RF IMO. Fedko's bat came out of nowhere. Very exciting if he picks up where he left off, as he's got the athleticism they're now seeking. A potentially great story in the making.
  15. Nice to see Harper and Thome recognized. And your reminder came out of the short-term deal for Cruz. That rental was so well-played.
  16. I like our position to garner some serious infield talent, but there's some fantastic arm talent high on the board too in Flukey, Bolemon and Rojas.
  17. Agreed on criteria and trepidation on the part of players. Would like to see Morris stick as a starter given his arsenal, competitive spirit and young for his draft class.
  18. Hope springs eternal. Thanks for this encouraging piece. Going to be fun watching up to 4 of these guys debut this year.
  19. Something to think about... big picture, these soft reboots have yielded underwhelming results.
  20. The purge on this list is going to be sizeable... we have a lot of guys they may want to protect, that are not on the 40 and are going to be Rule 5 eligible ... Morris, Gonzalez, CJ Culpepper, Cory Lewis, Rojas, Mendez ... Some worth protecting, some probably not.
  21. Good to see Adams on your list. He definitely figured some things out last half of last year and the adjustments have played well at AAA.
