Hey look, the Orioles got a double! Dick says that's 5 doubles in 8 PAs. Doesn't count the mashed line drive that went right to the Hammer last inning. Let's get an out here, relatively quickly. Doumit did a terrible job framing that pitch that he caught in the dirt. If you backhand it you're never going to get the strike call. Not as terrible a job as Plouffe did throwing that ball away, though. That was really bad.
The last three balls have been hit very, very hard. They are playing with fire, and what used to be a six run lead, leaving Pelfrey in right now. Edit: Done playing with fire. Now putting antibiotic salve on emerging blisters. That's four mashed balls in a row. And Casilla tries to bunt with two out and a man on second.
No error posted on Arcia. Seems like it should have been one. Willingham doubled the runner off on that line drive, but the ump called him safe. Very, very close play.
Well, Pelfrey's strategy of allowing long fly balls finally fell apart. Bert says "That's a ball that probably should have been caught." You mean because it hit the pocket of Arcia's glove? Yeah, probably. That ball hit the glove with a clank like we heard off the Green Monster.
Well, at least you're not paying for an airport motel stuck in an intermediate city anyway. Plouffe really hit that ball. The Twins certainly packed the hitting shoes from Boston. Maybe they can keep this up for a few months.
That's the problem with Casilla. Someone has to make him good, and it only happens once every four starts. I guess tonight's his night. I was a big fan of his when he first came up, but that wore off pretty quickly.
Sorry about the missed flight. Do you get to spend an exciting Friday night in an exotic location? After the game, of course. Very nice double play there. This team has been a lot more exciting than the last two, not that the bar is very high.
OK, I'm still not a believer in this whole Pelfrey experiment. He could change my mind, but this strategy of giving up a lot of deep fly balls isn't working too while right now. ...but a few more innings like the 4th will make me question my beliefs.
My only recommendation, which is totally unrelated to your question, is to have your barbecue "North Carolina style", which means the coleslaw is on top of the meat. It might sound gross, but it works.
