  1. Yup. Fantasy owners everywhere are trying to decide who to release so they can pick him up for their teams.
  2. Yeah, agreed. He was out of the inning if Florimon had made that fairly routine play. We should go back to the West Coast- we did ok out there. We're falling apart in Minneapolis.
  3. Thielbar's game to win or lose. Let's get him a win. For heaven's sake. The Royals are trying to give this game away.
  4. What the heck, maybe his luck will continue tonight. Twins had bases loaded to start the inning and scored one run on a walk. Maybe things will even out, or at least the KC line drives will hit some gloves.
  5. Yeah, I laughed at that too. Very insightful, in a Richardian sort of way.
  6. True, but as I mentioned the Royals ran their way out of two of the first four innings. Florimon also made an above-average play. They deserve to have more than 2 runs.
  7. And Harmon Florimon puts the Twins on the board. Deep right center, over the high wall. Nice shot.
  8. Boy, Correia has really come back to earth after that decent April. They are hitting line drives all over the place. Take away Hermann's great throw and Mauer's great throw and the Twins are down a ton.
  9. I think Chris Hermann is doing a good job of showing that he can catch, play the outfield, and get some hits. I know he's outperforming his minor league track record, but I like what I'm seeing. ...KC...not liking what I'm seeing. He's throwing too many of those balls that scream hey-hey-hit-me as they come in waist-high in the middle of the plate. TK is speculating about a Royals hit and run. If I were managing the Royals I would play for the hit hit hit hit hit. So instead, they sent the runner and Joe gunned him down. Nice managing!
  10. Did he mean a situation where Carroll was trying to kill an inning by striking out?
  11. Some of you can probably remember as well or better than I do, and might disagree, but I remember Jim Kaat as a good groundball pitcher. He had a lot of strikeouts but that was due more to innings pitched than anything else. That ball by Thomas was a screamer- let's get something here.
  12. Silva certainly has to make the list, at least as a one-year wonder. What a great throw by Hermann to get the runner at third.
  13. Nice play there- Tejeda out at home. Let's get one more out. Question: who do you think was the best groundball pitcher in Twins history? I do not have a definitive answer.
  14. KC really is pitching up in the zone tonight. Gotta get it down...
  15. He is really up and down, isn't he? He just looks totally lost, and then he gets a hot streak. He's been frustrating this year.
  16. A healthy Willingham did seem to have an effect, both by himself and on the batters around him. I don't blame Willingham for the bad pitching. 80 wins went out the door with the pitching staff (and did anyone other than Miller really expect 80 wins?). I did expect more offense. I don't really get the "Twins are the joke of the league" comment. The Astros and White Sox are both dramatically worse.
  17. Remember when we didn't have four batters in the starting lineup below .230? Remember when we had more than one above .280? As much as I like some of the guys on this team, and acknowledging that there are probably some good future ballplayers there along with a Hall of Famer...yikes. I try to be optimistic, I try to enjoy the wins when they come, and appreciate good moments in losses, but... Hey- let's have a good game tonight. Go Twins.
  18. I took our daughters to see Raffi. Huge hit, and I've seen worse. Hank Williams Jr was a lot worse.
  19. So a Fog is a Fug, But when Cockneys refer to "duggs" they don't mean dogs. What????
  20. Here comes Gardy to take Duensing out, hoping to trade him for one Foghat album, only slightly scratched.
  21. Fog 'at? Now we can only get three Foghat t-shirts- trade him now!
  22. Maybe we can trade Duensing for a half-dozen Foghat t-shirts.
  23. I think even that's a stretch- I'd take Downs over Duensing in a second. Trade Doumit to open up a spot in the lineup? Sure. Trade to get valuable chips? Naw...
  24. The funny thing to me is that we're basically talking about trying to improve the worst-hitting team around, by trading to trade some hitters. Hmmmm... I just don't see that as a great marketing scheme. Duensing? I just don't see someone offering much for Duensing. Or Burton, or anyone other than Perkins, for that matter. I think we should trade Doumit to open up space in the outfield, but I would not expect to get much (or demand much). Ditto Morneau, though it would make me sad. Not sorry, really, but sad nonetheless.
