  1. He wasn't good last year either. The year before that he was downright awful. His sample size of being good was 10 games 3 years ago.
  2. Well I hope they aren't just handing Easton a job. I don't consider him a starting caliber player.
  3. From everything I've read about the T they drafted, he's more of a project guy, not a day 1 starter, too. So that's possibly two starting OL we need. Of course, they might disagree with the "experts" and see him as a starter right away, who knows.
  4. Is anyone else a little annoyed that we are essentially waiving the white flag (bringing in Hale), in a 2 run ballgame, to eat innings and save the bullpen?
  5. Thanks a lot Vanimal.
  6. Perhaps they liked some of the OL talent on the board, but not as much as they liked Hughes?
  7. IMO they still need competition at the other guard spot as well. But, I'm fine with the 1st round pick.
  8. Well I'd have to see where these similar pitches were. This one wasn't nearly far enough inside, IMO.
  9. Thanks for posting that. I hadn't seen the game. That was definitely not a good pitch, that was right where power hitters like it. Right in his wheel house, as they say. If you are going to come inside on a power hitter, you have to come WAY inside.
  10. Guys get moved off of catcher. It's the most difficult position on the spectrum. Nobody moves to catcher.
  11. Ummm, I'm pretty sure xFIP replaces a pitcher's HR rate with league average HR rate.
  12. The Chargois decision came well after they had already taken Kinley.
  13. Well we may not have known they'd sign 7 players, but I'm guessing the FO had a fairly clear outline of player types and roles that they intended to sign. They wouldn't have known which guys they'd be able to get, of course, but they probably had a good idea of how many. I'm also going to have to see Chargois stay healthy for a significant stretch of the season before I give them any flak about that decision. It's still April, I'm sure we'll see Chargois on the DL at some point.
  14. The Twins have zero chance of outbidding for Machado, Harper or Kershaw.
  15. Also, he didn't get it past the pitcher. That matters. It self evidently wasn't a gimme, because he'd have been on first base if it was. If it's a gimme, then yeah take it, I guess. But if not, then let's swing away early in a game we know we'll need a bunch of runs to win.
  16. Well sure, they could have DFA'd any player on the 40 man roster, including Kinley, yes. I didn't think the post I was responding to meant it in such an abstract, indirect manner such as that though. If they were going to DFA him before he even threw a pitch for the team though, they wouldn't have selected him in the first place.
  17. This is Molitor's fourth season. He's made it very clear with his actions that he has no interest in using a LOOGY. I'm not just going by this year, or just when the bp has been strained.
  18. Based on 2018 thus far, definitely not. But I think they'll play better than they have at some point. So, I think they'll probably be in that mix. But that's just my opinion. I'm saying that if someone doesn't think they are, that's not at all ridiculous. They are one of those fringe teams. Certainly not favorites to make the playoffs, but not longshots either.
  19. They didn't choose Kinley over Chargois. They chose Kinley over Bard and Burdi. Chargois DFA was much later, to make room for a different player.
  20. I mean, he's 27 years old. If he's not an mlb player by now, no amount of minor leagues will make him into one. Again, everyone, I'm not defending the move, or the player. But, I doubt the FO sees any value in sending him to the minors. At his age, you either keep giving him chances on the mlb roster, or you send him back to Miami/ cut him.
  21. None of us here (on earth?) can see what it is, but they apparently see something in him that they don't want to lose.
  22. All true. But, just a few days ago Molitor pulled Berrios after 84 pitches because he needed to find innings for his bullpen. So I'm not sure that carrying Kinley had been much of a hindrance, until now.
  23. I'm not defending the decision, or the player. Just giving the reason behind it. He's 27 years old. They certainly didn't select him so they could hide him for a year then develop him in the minors.
  24. Kinley? He's started 3 games of the 197 that he's appeared in over his pro baseball career, and none since 2015. I don't imagine they have any thoughts of him ever starting a game.
  25. The Wolves just gave up 50 points in one quarter of basketball. At home. I'm glad they made the playoffs. You can only get that experience by being there. But boy oh boy do they have a long ways to go to get from here to legit contender.
