  1. Because I don't know where to look, I'll ask this. Do the Twins carry insurance for injuries to their highest salaried players? Or did Pablo's injury save the Twins money? Or is the premium too great to afford? Or even offered?
  2. It might be interesting, but it will not happen unless Brooks sustains an injury. They will not rush Culpepper to the majors, regardless of what many people might like.
  3. DocBauer, your points are valid. The front office would be wise to follow through. In other words, what in the world is taking so long ? I don't get it.
  4. There's going to be at least one more trade or signing for the bullpen, supposedly. We'll see if that guy is above or below Rodgers in the experience category. I'm looking forward to that article, too.😊
  5. I agree with the notion that Jackson was acquired in case they couldn't get Caratini. The quick way the deal for Caratini went down, it looks like it was in the works for a while. There's also the fact that both Jeffers and Caratini are veteran MLB catchers. That's important considering there may be several young arms in this years pitching staff. I like this a lot, if that is how it plays out.
  6. Nobody knows what the final payroll number is going to be except Falvey and the ownership group. I think there's a good chance both Jeffers and Caratini are the tandem catchers with Jackson moved with possibly Larnach for a relief pitcher. But, what the heck do I know....
  7. Two things stand out in this article. Bell made some adjustments last year and he had a nice last two months. He's a veteran and I expect it to be continued this year. That alone gives me confidence in his signing. But even bigger, in my opinion, is that he's a good teammate with good leadership qualities. Some here poo poo this. Not me. If he's a mentor to any of the younger guys, it's a big deal. Respect for being a 10+ year veteran means a lot to guys trying to figure out the rigors of life on the road and demands at home playing major league baseball every day. Nothing is guaranteed, of course, but there's some reason for optimism in this area.
  8. After seven hours there's no comments. Excellent work, Cody, we've all been there and are in complete agreement!
  9. Thanks,I would think the player's union should be highly in favor of a floor. The majority of players are making the minimum salary. The union should be working hardest for those players to raise the floor.
  10. Wouldn't a salary floor, or a highly accountable method of tracking the revenue shared funds be just as necessary? I understand that there are teams receiving double their payroll or more. Enlighten me, please.
  11. How hot will the seat get if the checkbook remains closed? Proven impact players usually come with a hefty price tag in the free agent market. On the other hand, trades, which need to happen rather soon, is where something can be done to lower the thermostat. IMHO
  12. This, and clubhouse presence are what makes this a better signing than some might think. He's a good addition on a relatively young team.
  13. My wife has it as well. Which is why we are in Arizona from November through March. She gets relief and I get to play senior softball all winter. Win win!
  14. There's a couple of positives that Matthew points out in the article that I think make this an interesting signing. 1) he's increased his bat speed from both sides of the plate. It shows that he knows he needs to make adjustments to hit the ball out in front a bit more. Maybe he can move up in the box a little bit to minimize the number of ground balls. 2) he's a good clubhouse guy. I believe that's more important than some might think. Season's are long with a lot of close interactions among teammates. He's got ten years of experience. How much does he add to the team? I don't know. Maybe enough to matter more than not...
  15. Starting pitching is the area of highest quality depth for the Twins. That would be the reason for any optimism in 2026. Since management has us believing that they want to compete this year, why on earth would we trade any of our top starters. Obtaining a quality bat at first base can be done while keeping our starters intact. There's a lot of trade proposals on here that want to give away much more than we get back. It's a head scratcher for me.
  16. He will not be traded.....unless Lopez and or Ryan go first. And then, for who. That goes totally against what has been said out loud at the winter meetings.
  17. You're probably right, but it's depressing to think that there might not be any effort to improve the team. Nobody wants to watch a team without much hope to compete. I can't imagine how few tickets will be sold if they break up the "core".
  18. Once the minority owners are approved, their identity will become public. That cat will get out of the bag.
  19. The further we get into the off season, the less we know about the future. Regardless of our opinions on Falvey, it looks like he is going to be sitting on his hands for a while. That isn't a good situation for us fans. What a messed up organization 😕
  20. The winter meetings are soon upon us. If Ryan/Lopez are in Twins uniforms after the meetings, then I'll have some hope that a free agent signing for first base is possible. Hopefully, we'll know who the minority investors are as well. We'll know a lot more in a couple of weeks.
  21. Eeles path to the majors has several roadblocks to overcome with the Twins. I like the kid and I hope he gets a chance with his new team. Whether this is a good swap won't be known for awhile, but I think it's not a high risk deal. Who knows, it could be a great move.
