  1. A good read, and hopefully a nice prep for some guys who just might see time later this year with the big club given its inconsistent 'pen. Magill? Morin?
  2. Nice while it lasted. Any analysis on Kimbrel?
  3. Someone in the F/O gets a pat on the back if Smeltzer keeps going like this. And another pat on the back to the minor league field guy who put him back in the rotation.
  4. Makes one almost smile to think about the future. Looking forward to the MiLB daily game summaries this year.
  5. You might want to check the radar gun at the Fort...
  6. It's supposed to be buy low, sell high. Sell Sano? Sell low. And I'm pretty tired of that strategy.
  7. Seems to me Bux needs more time to develop before being turned loose at the ML level. Why is the FO overreaching by not bringing him up to play in September thus providing the club more time for him to do precisely that? One of my favorite TK quotes was that April and September stats are poor indicators of a player's development level. Bux had a terrific September a while back, but it didn't translate to this season's post-April. And for every wondrous play he makes as a CF, there's a cringe-worthy episode where he just doesn't take care of his body, and then its DL-time. Bux' WAR is terrific and it could be world-beating if we could both afford and plan on him starting 150 games a year.
  8. This season has been a dumpster fire. I expected a bit of regression towards the 2016 atrocity, but not to this degree.
  9. Very much appreciate the prospect summary. Saves at least four boxscore clicks.
  10. Good player, but if the market is ready to overpay, then we have capable prospects and will be able to use that money elsewhere. Wish Doz all the luck.
  11. Jorge did a good job, and should've finished the 6th. But for his excellent demeanor, he reminds me of Kevin Slowey...
  12. Good job! Wonder how many hours Bux has spent in the cage with Rowson since 20 April? Something happened between last August-September and the start of the season that caused Bux to think he was a 24 yG.o. Willie Mays. But, methinks Rowson reset Bux in the cage and video room. Bux' potential to hit .300 (and have an OBP 80 pts higher) is directly related to his ability to make contact. He can fly.
  13. I'm afraid we'll only have one good season to show for the 60-odd million TR gave Hughes. The best thing about Phil is that we'll need to call up Berrios in June to replace him as he'll either be back on the DL or have the worst starter's ERA in the AL.
  14. I have high hopes for Bux, but can't help remembering that Tom Kelly used to say something like, a ballplayer is never as good as he looks in April and September.
  15. Methinks the 25-man looks very, very different by 15 June. And Rochester should have a heckuva team.
  16. I'm with the let-Dozier-leadoff-to-begin-until-Buxton-gets-more-comfortable crowd.
  17. A subscription to email is far better than waiting for wikileaks to publish it.
  18. If Robert plays Plant, then he would be perfectly placed as the Twins 1B.
  19. Stubbs and Shuck address that embarrassing blush from the fanbase when we must turn to Grossman as a late-inning defensive replacement. Vsong sounds more like Neil Allen's replacement-in-waiting. Paulsen will be left in the dust, or Rochester if he doesn't have an opt-out clause. Let's get on with the rebuilding, which last time I checked wasn't built on also-rans and never-weres.
  20. Park will pass through waivers. And this just underlines how poor the previous F/O regime was in judging talent.
  21. GMs around the league will run through the same progression and only give value for Polanco as a 2B, but an unproven one. So, I would only trade Polanco if offered a startling good pitching prospect, which is unlikely. In the meantime, I'd start him at 2B. If he hits as expected, it will increase his trade value. Move Dozier to LF. Brian has more arm than Polanco and runs very well. If he's adeqaute defensively and retains his offense, that will improve his trade value and plug a gaping hole in the lineup leaving low-OBP, good-defense Rosario as the OF backup. Food for thought: how many IFs have moved to the OF successfully in recent years in forward-thinking organizations like the Cubs, Rays and, ..., Indians?
