  1. If that player comes at a salary twice Ober's it'll never happen. That's a valid concern right now. I can't envision a better 'cheap' investment right now for the Twins.
  2. You're spot on. If you wanted to go full rebuild, sure, dump Pablo, Ryan, Ober, and Correa. The team isn't in a position where that's advisable or even necessary. Is Simeon Woods Richardson really ready or able to be your *ace*? Truthfully you could save money on a manger salary down the road and have Pablo be a player/manager. Really there's no better student of the game around Twins territory except perhaps Carlo Correa.
  3. It's worth ten minutes of your time. https://tcbmag.com/analysis-selling-the-twins/
  4. Re Mauer: Here I thought that was a satire piece.. 🥰
  5. Suddenly the off-season becomes a whole lot more .. eh, interesting.
  6. Add in too the durability of the pair, knock on wood.
  7. We did have improvements in 24, despite the way the year wound down. Can I submit a guess (hope!) for 2025 most improved.. Pablo Lopez, Royce Lewis. If either or both come through we're golden.
  8. 2/3 the team is on the same development curve. It can succeed famously or it can tank horribly. We saw both.
  9. We could trust him to improve along the way if we didn't have the same concerns about Julien, Lewis, Jeffers and even Wallner. One of these guys has to get over the yips don't they?
  10. He's not the biggest concern but he's an easy nail to hammer.
  11. Wisely is or is not Blake Snell. Jordan Montgomery. Jorge Polanco. You don't know until you know.
  12. Indeed, an Oracle and Wrigley and Target video and production crew could optimize viewing angles and even the ambient sound levels and programming in a stadium they were dedicated to working. Local announcing talent for each team could float.
  13. I agree re: the bats are a bigger area of concern for the Twins, even though 'you can never have enough pitching'. You know what you're gonna get from the majority of the stuff. Pablo 11 wins, probably somewhere between the 23 and 24 versions. Ober and Ryan, largely established bodies of work barring injury. Maybe even a step forward for Joe. Duran, Jax Paddack, hard to envision any huge steps forward or backward. Varland, Stewart, Topa, competent if not electric bullpen help. Simeon Woods Richardson, a small step forward, but no miracles. Maybe Zebby and Festa a bit more seasoning. A no. five starter might be needed or maybe not. The bats are a total crap shoot other than Correa, Vazquez, and perhaps Larnach. Will we get the April Wallner or the August one? The hurt or healthy Buxton and Miranda? A useful or useless Julien, Jeffers, Kirilloff, and Lewis. Will Emmanuel Rodriguez or Luke Keaschall be of some help by summer? There are so many unknowns we are hanging our hats on. Seems something could be said for a bit more veteran presence, whether re-signing Santana or nabbing a Pham-type guy. Goldschmidt too rich for our liking?
  14. The Tigers and Royals did EXACTLY what the Twins did last year but ok.
  15. Numbers from a hat? Hey it worked for setting the lineup .
  16. FWIW, Popkins is gone as hitting coach. His contract wasn't renewed.
  17. Agree. I think the expectations instead of the results are coloring the final grade in some cases. "You ain't expecting the rookies to carry the vets, are ya?"
  18. There's a lot of gloom stains on that napkin. But there are some real values too. Larnach, Wallner. Ryan, Ober, Duran, Jax, Sands, Topa. Much as I like Kepler and Farmer, their departure$ (and presumably Thielbar$) make keeping Santana and Castro more palatable.
  19. WCCO will also bring the Twins to fans in the Dakotas, Iowa and Wisconsin. Doubtful for the other radio signals. Don't underestimate.
