  1. Solid pitching and defense with a good young core. I could see their 'window' coinciding with ours in a year or two.
  2. The paragraph reminding us that 'not all of the tv money' is gone, should be reassuring. Any chance the team's success will yield equal or greater funding?
  3. I love MAT. Love the wins and plays and hustle and interviews. Love Farmer too and celebrated his return from the awful HBP. Love Solano and his timely hits and occasionally flashy defense. These guys helped a lot toward the Twins' first playoff wins and a very enjoyable season. Rose colored glasses make it hard to separate the role players from the success. But there are a lot of role players out there. The linking of Taylor, Farmer, Solano (and even guys like de Leon and Gallo) to an amazing year shouldn't mean we can't part ways. Breaking up is hard to do. Keep a couple if it's feasible for continuity and success. As outfield being the larger question mark I'd nominate Taylor.
  4. If you consider the entire financial outlay for the catcher position (both Jeffers and Vazquez) in 2023 the Twins did very well.. as the writers themselves note, with only two warm bodies. Honestly it shouldn't be the only factor, but they should ask Pablo for his input.
  5. Statistically it's hard to complain. Pablo always seemed in control even after he had a vulnerable stretch; his post game interviews and in-game demeanor reflected that control. It was hits, not walks that would be the culprit.. his control is pretty impeccable. If the fastball was the most (ha!) hittable it makes sense that adjusting velocity or release would make for a more effective Pablo. But honestly.. how can we complain? He's the consummate pro.
  6. Haha. Hope they don't stay cool at night. It doesn't warm up until June in the AL central.
  7. Anecdotally the team seemed to hit better overall when he was in the lineup (if the alternative was Gallo not shocked) and his at bats seemed to yield timely hits and walks. Also anecdotally Michael Taylor started 'big innings' of Three or four runs with the same.. walks or good at bats.
  8. When you put it that way, ride Solano into May when it's time to bring up Lee. (Or return AK?)
  9. Stroman scares the crap out of me the same way Dylan Bundy used to. Seriously the more I think about it doing whatever we can to get Eduardo Rodriguez from probably our best competition in 2024 makes so much sense.
  10. If you're into ratings and considered Pablo a 1A and Sonny a 1B, if Paddack could perform at a 2A level (with Ryan, Maeda, Ober/Varland) that would be a rotation only a tad less impressive than this year's. If Ryan or Varland stes up, maybe just as good. If Pablo or Maeda drops off, a bit less. Add a quality free agent (an Ed. Rodriguez from Detroit type) and Paddack is your three.. that's good stuff there!
  11. Truly a way must be found to keep a couple glue guys like Farmer.
  12. "Trust the Process" has been the team's unofficial mantra in 2023. It can also be applied to the long term, assuming the front office continues to "supply the process".
  13. I would just love for the Twins to Make a serious play for Eduardo Rodriguez, who likely won't be a Tiger next year.
  14. This team made me remember just how much the mid 80s teams made me cringe and the late 80s made me cheer. Once again it's not only acceptable to be a Twins fan but now we just need to find room on the bandwagon! Seriously not only did the team bring optimism and happiness but a good chunk of it will be back next year and the next. I'm sorry it all ended but can't wait for the off-season to see what's coming! (Really hope there's room for the role players we came to know and love like Farmer, Taylor, deLeon, Solano.) Is a Pablo/Ryan/Paddack/EdwinJackson or Corbin Burnes/Ober rotation too much to ask for? (I have a feeling Tigers fans are about three years behind us on this trajectory.)
  15. Is it really a good time for a Buxton sighting? Break glass in case of emergency. I guess this counts.
  16. Kirilloff and Wallner are not in the starting lineup.
  17. This is who we are. You'd certainly hope for better from AK and Waller, but sitting them today won't help come 2024 playoffs. The Orioles buzz is that they were too inexperienced..
  18. Additional day of rest. Of course if Maeda or Ryan comes in to relieve Ober things change. Paddack would be a good change of pace from Ober if Rocco was feeling feisty.
