    His only other appearance this year has been a home game against Texas on May7th. He was the bulk pitcher going 3 innings, but with an opener in front of him. He threw 52 pitches with a 54% strike rate. 3 walks, 2 hits, 2 ER and only 1K. I didn't look at his minor league numbers. If the Twins are actually patient, they should get something to hit or draw walks. Like you, I'm afraid he will go 5-6 innings and actually qualify for the win.

    I dug into the excuse on Kreidler at CF and reviewed his baseball reference page for various splits. When you account for Kreidler's splits, granted in SSS, keeping Gray on the roster makes even less sense, especially as a LHB excuse. In 2026, Kreidler is currently better against RHP vs LHP. I did look at his career platoon splits to make sure this isn't an error. Even his career platoon splits support this argument, although not to the extreme as in 2026 (101 vs RHP, 97 vs LHP). When you analyze Kreidler by position, it makes even less sense why he is in CF. Again, this is very SSS, but his career OPS splits also flesh out these trends (OPS of 134 at SS vs OPS of 56 at CF). Just to be clear, this is nothing against Kreidler. He has earned his current playing time and should be on the roster starting at SS until Culpepper is called up at the minimum. There is no reason, even by metrics, for Gray to be on the roster as he should be replaced by Roden if they really want a LHB on the roster who can also cover CF. This would also leave Clemens at second, which I believe (although I haven't looked it up) is his best defensive position as well.

    That was the conspiracy theory I floated in the in-game thread last night on why Buxton was not on the IL. I thought of this theory after listening to the Skor North Twins Show pregame podcast. When Shelton was asked about Buxton's availability, his response was that he has no updates at this time. The starting lineups for the ASG are expected to be announced tonight before the FOX Saturday game and Buxton is expected to be on the list. He last played on Sunday. It's possible that they could announce an IL stint for this Monday (they're not flying someone to NY for one game), retroactive to June 29th, and he could still come off the IL by Friday in time for the ASG. Another mention on that podcast was that Fedko is essentially a Billy Hamilton type of player on the roster. Only coming in for pinch-running and defensive purposes. Our roster currently cannot afford any spot to be reduced to that type of role, even the 13th man on the bench. We end up having strange lineups or players like Gray still on the roster.

    That was another item discussed on the Skor North Twins Show podcast. Basically, the answer was that he is the 13th man on the bench. Think like Billy Hamilton. I agree that it is silly to have that type of player on your roster. If this was a WS contender, where you have bats galore and you could afford the roster spot, this wouldn't be such a big deal. It's a bigger deal when you need every bat that is capable of making a difference on the roster. If you don't believe in Fedko, promote someone you believe in.

    Idk if Lewis will take the advice, but it was nice to see Bell giving Lewis some info on what he sees before the AB.

    I would hope not either. They also have a pattern of not putting Buxton on the IL until they feel they absolutely need to, which is typically 2-3 games too late. I was listening to the podcast from the Skor North Twins Show just now. Dex was part of the pregame interview of Shelton when asked about Buxton's availability. The answer was a begrudging answer of 'We don't have an update.' Unless Buxton is getting a second opinion in NY, that's one of the few answers that makes sense. The idea seems crazy which is why it is in conspiracy theory territory.

    Conspiracy theory. They don't want Buxton on the IL until after the ASG voting as people may stop voting for him if he lands on the IL. Since he hasn't played since Sunday, they could make the IL stint retroactive from June 29th and he would be available to come off the IL for the last series before the All Star Break.

    With Rice demolishing the ball, they want to keep him fresh for as long as they can before they have to put him back behind the dish.

    Exactly. Tough to complain that Lewis flails all the time at low outside pitches. When he finally lets one go, it's a pitcher's pitch to get him. Not every pitcher has the control of Cole and will hit that spot. Lewis made the right decision. It just didn't work out.

    It turned out to be a nice send. It didn't look good at first when Clemens was bogged down by that plow he picked up at 3rd base.

    Love it. The Saints broadcasters have had to listen to NDSU commentary so long that they have adapted their pronunciation of Bisons using the 'z' in their name.

    Did the goalies show up? Seems a high score being 2-2 for a knockout match.

    We know that our bullpen is going to be garbage. The hope is that we can knock around the Yankee bullpen. Especially knowing that Rodon just went on the 15-day IL so we will potentially be facing a bullpen game tomorrow from the Yankees. Getting them worn down tonight will help the rest of the weekend.

    Maybe the idea of Jenkins staying healthy longer than it takes a Klondike bar to stay frozen in the summer heat?

    Rojas should absolutely be on his way to New York right now. If Roden is going to be called up, it will likely be when the Twins come home since they are facing two LHP in Cole and Rodon. No point in calling up a LH bat when you're likely going to sit him. Edit: The good news is, with the LHP going for the Yankees, we shouldn't be seeing Gray much this series. Hopefully Buxton is back in CF and Kreidler is manning SS.
