  1. Oh, I remember it well! My oldest sister had a nasty accident there (she's fine, totally unharmed) in the early 80's. It's been gone for years and years. I currently live about 5 minutes from the Raceway and it's still a hot spot for the trotters.
  2. Know the Montclair area well. My wife was born and raised a few towns over. I'm in Freehold - which is about an hour south of Montclair. Born in Freehold in 1978 and never left - save for four years in college down in VA.
  3. I've always felt that in team sports, player leadership and peer pressure go a long way in setting the tone for a team's performance and effort. In 1992, the Twins let Danny Gladden and Jack Morris go and may have upgraded their sports with John Smiley and Pedro Munoz but they a big part of the heart & soul of that WS team. In 2015, Torii Hunter almost single handedly had the Twins in the post-season and then the wheels fell off when he retired. As much as I blame Rocco and Popkins, when things get this bad, players need to look at themselves and step up. Correa's been lauded for his leadership for years. Vazquez, too. If the reports are true and their was legitimately a closed-door, players only meeting after this game, then hopefully Correa or someone else says what needs to be said. Enough is enough.
  4. Wonder how different the standings would look if the Twins and Guardians traded managers...
  5. Baseball aside, hope Lopez gets right and is in a good place mentally. He seemed off all season in terms of his body language. I remember the last game he pitched in before he went on the IL - he caught a pop up and sprinted into the dug out and down the runway. Was very odd to me at the time.
  6. The nearest short-term fix is firing Popkins. This team is striking out at a historic level and the guy has zero track record.
  7. So tired of the Twins' TV broadcast and whether its Perkins or Morneau spoon feeding this ridiculous narrative that the Twins are always facing a CY Young candidate and terribly bad luck. Call it like it is.
  8. Kremer, Bradish and Irvin in Baltimore. Guessing the Twins go for 33 strike outs and 5 runs in the 3 games.
  9. 3 runs in 2 games. Popkins must go.
  10. Buxton was out with back spasms, right? So Rocco had him PH in consecutive games. If you really are dealing with a back injury, can't think of anything worse than sitting on a bench all game long and then coming in cold to take gigantic swings (and misses). It's just further proof that neither the Twins nor Buxton have any sort of clue. This franchise completely ruined him.
  11. I really dislike this team.
  12. The offense has been out to lunch all season. Writing was on the wall as early as opening day when they made Grienke look like it 15 years ago.
  13. Not that matters. Game was over at 1-0 but now its definitely over.
  14. Would be surprised if the Twins win a game against the Orioles.
  15. If Buxton was capable of playing the outfield, maybe the Twins sign Turner instead of Gallo.
  16. Sad but true. Time for Buxton to look at himself in the mirror and decide what kind of player he wants to be.
  17. And that's being kind...
  18. Oh, no doubt - the roster construction hasn't done Rocco any favors but his in-game decisions continue to be head scratchers and he's a huge reason this team is bad in 1 & 2 run games.
  19. Twins' pitching has shown in this series that it is good enough to win games in October against elite teams. It's a shame that it will go to waste and result in a 77 win season and in third place behind Cleveland and either Chicago or Detroit.
  20. Buxton to me is more of a front office issue than Rocco. Falvey and Levine are in their owns heads with it and in turn, Buxton's in his head. If Buxton isn't capable of playing in the outfield, then put him on the IL for however long it takes for him to either get right mentally or get physically. He's a net negative right now and the front office is allowing it.
  21. Can't get doubled off there, you just can't. Castro's been good for the Twins this season but that's an incredibly stupid mistake.
  22. More fundamentals from the Twins!
  23. If managerial greatness was measured by the number of blank, empty stares in the dugout, Rocco would already be in Canton...
