  1. Very unusual for the Twins to make that kind of play in a big metropolis like Chicago!
  2. They definitely have gotten away from the patient approach that they displayed earlier in the season. Martin with 23 pitches through 2 innings. At least make him work a little bit and maybe get into that bullpen.
  3. Tuesday's a bit of an outlier because it went 11 innings. If you take away Lee's 3-run double, the Twins have scored a total of 5 runs in 27 innings this series. That's not going to win you many games.
  4. That sequence against Vargas sums up SWR. Can't put hitters away.
  5. Sigh. With the way Martin's been pitching and the way the Twins have been hitting, 1-0 feels like its 10-0.
  6. Morneau is probably so disappointed that he's not doing this game...
  7. Back into the W column today (hopefully) - tall task for the bats having to face Martin.
  8. Flush this one and try to get a split tomorrow. Over the course of 162, games like tonight will happen.
  9. Could have been worse. Time for the bats to pick him up.
  10. Slider is nasty. When he gets ahead of hitters, it is lights out.
  11. Shelton deserves a ton of credit - someone else deserves some props and I'm not sure if it is Tom P. or Zoll or someone else with the front office. Sending down Royce and Wallner. Sliding Lee over to 3B and paving the way for Culpepper at SS. Extended looks in the pen for Rojas, Morris, Adams. Seems to be a philosophical shift and one that could bode well long-term. Admittedly, there's a still some head scratching moves a la Outman being rostered but overall, I think the personnel decisions are better than what we've seen in the past.
  12. I thought this road trip was going to tell a lot about the Twins. +.500 trip against Boston, Chicago and Pittsburgh should be doable for a team that wants to at least remain in the hunt for the wild card and a weak AL Central. 4-1 so far isn't too shabby.
  13. Wasn't he a rule 5 pick up for the Sox? Prielipp will need to give them a good outing tonight. Runs will be hard to come by.
  14. This team is more likeable and enjoyable than the 2024 and 2025 versions. Hats off to Shelton. He's pushed a lot of the right buttons so far. Starting rotation is playoff caliber. Bullpen - will still give a ton of heartburn although I guess that's just the nature of baseball - but there have been some really good outings of late. The defense has also improved from what we saw at the beginning of the season. Most importantly, the team plays hard. Never get the sense that they're just going through the motions - that was the case far too often the prior two years.
  15. That's a really nice win. Clutch from Lee. Clutch plays in the field. And some Houdini work from the pen. Total opposite of the prior 2-3 seasons.
