  1. This feels like one of those margin losses for the Twins where they beat themselves...
  2. Should not have come down to Watkins. Larnach needed to be running the entire time. There were two outs. Even if it's caught, who cares.
  3. Larnach should have been running on contact, no? There's two outs.
  4. No Buck today. Could be a scheduled off day. Hopefully that's all it is.
  5. The Marlins are designating utilityman Nick Gordon for assignment, reports Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. Miami picked up Gordon in an offseason trade sending reliever Steven Okert to the Twins. He’s out of minor league options and thus wasn’t eligible to be sent down without first passing through waivers — which is where he’ll head now that he’s been DFA’ed and the trade deadline has passed.
  6. Not sure what the market will be for Max, but I'd be shocked if the Twins bring him back. I wouldn't mind him back on a 1-2 year deal, but I think the Twins are comfortable turning it over to Wallner and Larnach and saving some $$$ in the process.
  7. Do the Twins send Dobber back to St. Paul and call up a fresh arm for tonight? Ideally, you have someone that can go 2 innings (or so) as a bridge from Festa.
  8. What happened to them? Seems like in 2020, they were supposed to be overtake the Twins and control the division for the next 4-5 years. To go from that to arguably one of the worst teams of all time, it's bizarre.
  9. Guardians schedule definitely catches up to them the last few weeks. Twins have to take care of business against them. At least 3 of 4 this upcoming weekend. Will be hard to do but if they have any chance at the division, winning that series at Target Field is a must.
  10. Ober just looks the part on the mound. No wasted movements. Goes right at hitters. Definitely the Twins ace right now. Great at bat by Castro. Kepler homer gave them the lead but huge to get those insurance runs across the plate. Don't stop now. Hopefully a good outing from SWR and the Twins get help from the Orioles, Tigers and Rangers.
  11. Nice to get the insurance runs late. And Royce Lewis, please stay healthy. Not a fan of the home plate umpire tonight. Cost the Twins 2 runs and really looked like Ryan struggled with the zone. The staff ace is on the mound tomorrow. Go get 'em, Bailey.
  12. Agreed. I wouldn't have been shocked...
  13. Also - I'm glad they didn't dump Max. The Athletic had an article this morning about how the players reacted to no impact trades and there were some disappointed although unnamed players. Regardless of what the fan base thinks of Max, I think he's well-liked and respected in the clubhouse. You move a guy like that in the name of dumping salary and I think you see the team implode.
  14. Would have been really interesting if the Yankees got Flaherty because that was supposedly the precursor to moving Nestor Cortes. Max for Cortes would've saved the Twins some money and bolstered the pitching staff. Cortes has been up and down this year but I would've liked to see what the Twins could have done with him.
  15. The Twins are to the Royals what the Guardians are to the Twins. I think the Twins win the season series and grab the #2 WC spot. I don't necessarily trust Boston or KC and wouldn't be shocked if the #3 WC spot goes to the team that doesn't win the AL West. As for the division, I just don't see it. 8 games remaining. Just resigned to the Twins losing the tie-breaker. They're not going 7-1 against the Guards. 4-4 is more likely. In that scenario, could the Twins pick up 7 non head-to-head games by October?
  16. Headrick will get another shot - but, I suspect its to replace Thielbar...in 2025. Topa's the most immediate reinforcement, probably replaces Dobber unless another injury pops up.
  17. Duran / Jax / Alcala / Sands / Varland / Richards / Okert / Thielbar That should be the one in October. I still think they'll regret not getting an upgrade over the two lefties but nothing they can do about it now.
  18. Agreed. I think he can have a similar trajectory as Sands and Jax.
  19. Yankees have liked Max for a while...
  20. 3-3 road trip - could've been worse. Take care of business against the Sox.
  21. I trust Sands more than Duran at this point.
