  1. Per WebMD (I know, I know) - 2-3 months recovery time but surgery isn't typically required so the best case is he's back for the spring without any limitations or lingering effects.
  2. Brutal news on Joe. Was hoping it wouldn't be serious but that's a season ender. Nothing the Twins can do except hope that Varland, SWR and Festa are up for the monstrous challenge.
  3. Louie was called up as the extra player, right? So if Blewett's in Minneapolis, someone's headed to the IL...presumably, Joe :(
  4. Farm Dog is back - looks like at Brooks Lee's expense. And Scott Blewett (reliever) has been added to the 'pen.
  5. Twins right-hander Brock Stewart is headed for season-ending arthroscopic surgery to clean up his right shoulder, he tells Bally’s Audra Martin (X link). There’s no significant structural damage, and Stewart says he’s anticipating he’ll be ready for spring training after a projected rehab period of five to six months. It’s a frustrating development for Stewart, who was away from major league baseball from 2020-22 due to the canceled minor league season in 2020 and a pair of elbow surgeries (Tommy John surgery and a procedure to remove a bone spur). Stewart signed a minor league deal with the Twins and not only made it back to the majors on the heels of that pair of surgeries but emerged as a lights-out option in manager Rocco Baldelli’s bullpen.
  6. Yup. Figured after what happened last season, they learned a lesson in terms of how to handle recovery. But he's sorely missed.
  7. I actually think Duran's the biggest wildcard. Thielbar? Meh. Even with the better stats of late, I don't trust the guy or have any faith in him. Not so much a wildcard but more of a necessary evil because he's left-handed. Sands? Is he really a wildcard at this point? He's been very good this season and if it status quo with him the rest of the way, the Twins are in good shape. Topa? Yes, a wildcard. But again, Duran is 'the' wildcard. If he can somehow get back to last year's form, things could get really interesting for the Twins - especially if Ryan is healthy. If he continues to scuffle, I don't see how the Twins can make a legit post-season run.
  8. Yesterday there was a report that Falvey was somewhat optimistic about Joe avoiding a major injury but nothing sense then. Would presume the MRI results are available by now?
  9. Willi will be part of a hopefully a division winning team, and maybe more, in 2025 and then he'll cash in with another team. He's been a great signing and has been a big part of recent successes but with the Twins payroll crunch and the middle infield pipeline, he doesn't fit into their long term plans.
  10. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/08/rich-hill-to-throw-for-interested-clubs-on-friday.html
  11. The Twins are going to need a long arm in the bullpen. Topa will help bridge the gap to Sands, Alcala, Jax and Duran and perhaps could bump Sands or Alacala down a notch. But a looming problem is the lack of a reliable long arm in the pen. If Ryan's out, and you figure best case, he misses a few starts, the Twins are facing potential short starts from SWR, Festa, and Varland. Bullpen is going to get taxed really quickly. If you had someone that could piggyback on those starters and give you 3-4 innings, you'd be in much better shape. But I don't think anyone like that exists for the Twins. Winder was good yesterday but he's not reliable. Dobber is less reliable than Winder, IYAM. Headrick is hurt. Paddack won't be back until September if at all.
  12. Interesting factoid... In 2006, Francisco Liriano went down on August 7th. The Twins were 10.5 out. The post-season was a major disaster but goes to show, never know what will happen.
  13. The way I see it, the Twins' season now hinges on the arms of SWR, Festa and Varland. Who would have thought that back in March?
  14. Apparently, our old friend, Emilio Pagan had tightness in his triceps and was back in a couple of weeks. Best case scenario for Joe? Also of note, the Dodgers' pitcher that was initially diagnosed with the triceps injury actually had a rotator cuff problem so he may no be an apt comparison. Rocco's post-game presser as well as Ryan's demeanor (per the beat writers) could possibly hint at the injury not being season-ending.
  15. Correa probably out through the weekend (at least). He is going to do a rehab assignment before they activate him from the IL.
  16. Correa said he would play in some minor league games to ramp up. No word on when that will be. I'd be surprised if we see C4 much before late August. His absence looms large against Cleveland.
  17. Twins need Correa back. Twins need Ryan to somehow have avoided major injury. Rocco needs to stop sitting his best players.
  18. Agreed. Terribly deflating to lose him. The Twins put themselves in a situation where there were zero margin for error. Everyone had to stay healthy.
  19. Peter, I love the optimism but odds aren't in our favor here.
