  1. Didn’t even know you could do this five-man infield thing. They don’t let us do it in softball..😉
  2. What’s the term for a “golden sombrero” + 1?
  3. Just tuned in. That used to be more meaningful a few months ago…
  4. Well, that was surprisingly nice…
  5. That’s the guy to do it. Exciting finish.
  6. One of the many, many players who was both a Twin and a Met. RIP.
  7. It took a couple of minutes for the MLB website to update the GB to 1.5, but I saw the change happen 😀
  8. When I walked into CitiField this afternoon, the scoreboard was highlighting our dismal SB record. So I couldn’t help scratching my head and laughing during the game. Turned to my Mets fan friends and said, “We haven’t stolen that many bases in a season!” The other highlight was giving Pablo my own private ovation as he walked off after those 102 pitches.
  9. Yep. I’ll be at the game and try to break the streak (I have no luck against the Yankees, but my Mets record isn’t bad).
  10. “The Twins 2,3, and 4 hitters have not even put the ball in play in this game” say the Mets radio announcers, even before Buck strikes out. Embarrassing for me to go into work this week here in NYC.
  11. The Mets radio announcers did it much earlier and wasted the next 10 minutes talking about how little they knew about ballet and opera (as though they are the same thing). So much for New Yorkers being culturally sophisticated…
  12. This is grotesque. Here in New York, I thought we could at least make a good showing against the Mets. Will go to Wednesday’s game.
  13. Speaking of weather, a huge thunderstorm hit two years ago just as I got into my car in the distant parking lot. More memorable was in 1991 in Rod’s speech when he thanked the late Billy Martin and a roll of thunder immediately followed. People laughed, as I recall.
  14. Thank you. I had made the long day trip for Rodney, Kirby, Bert, and Kitty and Tony, but I felt I just couldn’t pull it off yesterday. It is a great experience, but always a long, hot afternoon in the sun (fortunately, it’s never rained on me). Not to get political, but I was kind of wondering how the news about Biden spread during the speeches.
  15. Thanks, Squirrel!
  16. Here in New York, my friends who are lifelong Yankee fans ask me how my Twins are doing. I say, “We only win against the really bad teams.” They reply that that’s how the Yankees of old (1950s and early 1960s) did it. I don’t know if that’s true, but, of course, the current playoff system changes all that. Still, they mean to be comforting.
  17. Twins fan in NYC here: Once I tell real Yankee fans that I’m a Twins fan, they respond by laughing and being fully aware of their dominance. As for the Yankee players, I agree, they don’t give it much thought.
  18. Listening to the radio. Was about to turn if off to make a phone call, and then said to myself, “Well, I’ll wait to see what Royce does” !!!
  19. Listening of the radio. No way I would watch, even if I wasn’t blacked out.
  20. I was at Yankee Stadium for David Wells’s perfect game. That was kind of a thrill, but NO desire for another one! I’m planning to go to the Stadium for tomorrow’s game. It’s supposed to rain….
