  1. Put me in all those category's. I think you mistake honesty for anger. I will not pretend that this team isn't owned by an owner with more money than croesus. I won't pretend that Mauer didn't know that hitting 28 HR's in 09 would make him worth an extra 10 million a year. I won't pretend that he hit those HR's by accident. I won't pretend that he couldn't hit for power every year if he wasn't obsessed with batting title(which means crap in my opinion) Would I ever attack the players personally on twitter? NO. Would I ever use Twitter? NO. Do I let my disappointment in the Twins boil over into my everyday life? NO. But fact's are facts and this organization would do well to get some truly intelligent people running it who are passionate about winning a World Series.
  2. Why not can the slider permanently? He's got a decent curve and a decent change so why does he need the slider?
  3. Welcome to sur la table. It's improbable but not impossible.
  4. Their number 5 starter would probably be the Twins number 1.
  5. The WhiteSox have a legit starting rotation as long as their bullpen doesn't completely fall on it's face I expect them to win at least 85 games. I'll take the over.
  6. He should start. There isn't a starting rotation anywhere in the world who needs a strikeout pitcher more than the Twins starting rotation needs a strikeout pitcher. Of the 8 guys currently vying to be among the starting 5 out of ST not one of them is interesting enough to merit me wasting my time watching the games once the regular season starts. I'd tune in to watch Harden in the end of May or beginning of June no matter how bad the team is doing. I might even go to a game.....No I wouldn't. This team is repulsive with or without Harden. Maybe if they fire Gardy......
  7. The thought of the Yankee's without Cano for 50 games and all the money this will cost Cano for his career make me happy. The thought of the Yankee's organization having to own up to having a team full of cheaters....MAKES ME EVEN HAPPIER! LOL
  8. Terry Ryan has been pretty clear that he wants to follow the blueprint laid out by Atlanta and Kris Medlan. Gibson will start the season in the bullpen. Gardy wants Hicks to be his CF. Hicks will open the season as the lead-off hitter and CF. I don't think either of them have anything to gain by going to Rochester especially because Brunansky and Cuellar are with the big league team now. That is one thing we can all be thankful for.
  9. I like DeVries better than all the guys vying for a rotation spot not named Worley, Diamond, or Gibson! Add to that the fact that is would be silly for the Twins to start Gibson in the rotation out of ST and DeVries would be my 3rd starter. This is what is so distressing to me about the additions of Correia and Pelfrey. Just because those guys have proven themselves at the major league level doesn't mean that they are necessarily better right now than DeVries or Deduno. I haven't liked what I've seen from Hendriks thus far in his major league career because he seems too in love with the sinker low and away. If Hendriks can do a better job of changing speeds I think he could be good but until he does I expect him to look consistently over matched.
  10. In my opinion Lohse should have taken the qualifying offer from the Cardinals. There is no way he' worth 13 million a year! He's old and he' not a strikeout pitcher. At the most he's worth 10 million year.
  11. Everyone keeps talking about Florimon at SS and Dozier at 2B but I'd prefer to see Escobar at SS and Carroll at 2B until Dozier can show offensive consistency at the AAA level. Florimon is athletic and has great range but I don't think he can last. All the numbers suggest he's going to struggle if handed the job. Escobar bring consistency to any position he fields.
  12. We can all tell how much Joe Mauer wants to win! Look at all the passion he plays with. Look at all the emotion he shows. Look at the high level of accountability he brings to the clubhouse. Look at the way Joe rises in key moments and gets game winning hits. Oh wait he doesn't do any of those things that Mr. Puckett did. 23 million dollar leader who's scared of his own shadow.
  13. Gardenhire shouldn't be fired because of the last 2 seasons. He should be fired because of his record against the Yankee's.
  14. It should be sink or swim. Either he makes this roster competitive from the very beginning of this season or he's gone.
  15. What do the Twins expect? They signed 2 of the 3 worst FA pitchers available. No one knows why the Twins signed these guys but everyone is pretty sure they don't want to watch Pelfrey or Correia pitch. There was only 3 FA pitchers that they could have signed that wouldn't have been an improvement over the kids they had pitching last season and the Twins signed 2 of them because they're cheap.
  16. Payroll doesn't really matter look at Tampa. Still the idea of those snakey freaking Pohlads pocketing a larger percentage of the profit makes me physically ill. As far as looking at Perez as a SP I say why not. Still I think this signing means Duensing will start the season holding down Diamond's rotation spot is the more likely outcome.
  17. Why won't Drew Butera go away? What a waste of a roster spot.
  18. No one even knows when this guy will be able to pitch.
  19. I find it inconsequential if Pelfrey ever throws a pitch for the Twins. He's terrible and every time I watch him pitch all I will be able to think about is all the decent SP that the Twins could have had if they were willing to spend just slightly more money.
  20. I wounder if this is a sign that the Twins intend to have Duensing hold down Diamonds rotation spot should Diamond be unable to start the season on time?
  21. From what I've read it leads me to believe that Gardy was promised he could have Hicks from day 1 if the FO traded away both Span and Revere. I understand that the Twins aren't going anywhere this season but Gardy will be fired if the team starts poorly. So it's hard to tell him to wait a month or 2 for Hicks when Gardy's tenure could be over by then. Will Having Hicks over Mastrioni make that much of a difference? I doubt it but the point is that the team needs to start off playing respectable ball or the fans will be calling for heads and Gardy's will be the first to roll.
  22. These are the kinds of articles that should be in the star trib every day. Their should be no end the the public berating and belittling of the Twins ownership and front office by the media for their off season actions.
  23. No way Hicks should be ranked above Arcia or Meyers but it's pointless to argue the rankings. As far as Hicks' BABIP two thing come to mind. First, Arron swings hard. If he makes square contact the ball gets through the infield fast. Yes he is a leadoff talent but has BJ Upton type power potential. Hicks doesn't hit a lot of slow rollers like Span and Revere. Second, he will make poor contact more often from the left side of the plate and with his speed he will beat out throws at any level. I think his BABIP will always be above average when he's healthy. That being said I'm still not sure he's ever going to harness his full abilities and be the MLB player the Twins hope. Aaron's trouble from the left side of the plate is a HUGE problem. One that will be magnified at the major league level.
