  1. That is why charts like yours are worthless. At his age he will pitch until he cant! But at least we know that he has. Santana is the only other pitcher we have that has been consistently successful. Give me a Powerball ticket with the winning numbers if you know when he can't get people out anymore. We will celebrate together.
  2. How about 1 YR and 5 million.
  3. Pitching 101 says we need to keep a batter guessing if we don't have overpowering stuff. That's where MPH AND MOVEMENT makes the same pitch be different. That's how guys like Colon get people out. They know how to pitch. The game within the game....the pitcher against the batter. MPH and the same pitch. Does it move the same?
  4. Does your chart show location, movement and mph? If so my page didn't show.
  5. Comparing Colon and Pelfrey? Should we look at career stats? Change of speed, movement and location. For me a 5th starter will take his turn, eat innings, keep us in games and wins more than he loses. Our young guys can learn from him. How do you get MLB HITTERS out with 1 stupid pitch!
  6. What hasn't been mentioned is as we call up our young guys with the expanded roster what can our pitchers learn from this guy? Lot of years and a lot of wisdom.
  7. Funny how many posts have been made regarding the reasons for getting rid of this guy. He has arguably been the best pitcher since his arrival. Why don't we all sit back and enjoy what pitching is all about. MOVEMENT,CHANGE OF SPEED AND LOCATION. Not bad for a old MAN! Give the man his credit for going out and being a work horse.
  8. Or maybe we can move Sano to RF and Rooker to 1st in a few years. Oh wait that was we did that already. Thanks for the update. I don't blame many Twins fans for their pessimism due to the many moves made by the prior Twins braintrust. It is difficult to stay positive after the dry spell we have had. I however, am a believer in Falvey and Co. I like the out of the box thought process of the recent draft. No-one could have anticipated the long list of injuries to pitching prospects and May that we've run into this year. The glass is half full in my eyes and am excited to see what they will do in the off season. GO TWINS.
  9. And the ASTRO Game? BETTER taste in my mouth as a starter with 5 shutout innings 2 games in a row for a guy who has struggled. Just MO.
  10. So you have a pitcher who has struggled! He gives you 5 strong innings two games in a row! You are looking for that forth and fifth guy you can trust to keep you in the game! AND THEN YOU CONTINUE TO PRESS THE ISSUE AND SEND HIM OUT FOR 1 MORE INNING. Molitor, really? It is a confidence ISSUE at this point.
  11. Well deserved! Not your typical overpowering closer but gets it done with movement and location. A great example of someone understanding how to pitch and play the game within the game with getting the batter guessing.
  12. I am 100 percent in agreement with this post. We are not going to be World Series Champs this year but we are winning more games and our young players are getting valuable experience. In years past think how Terry Ryan would treat our young guys like a yo-yo between AAA and the big club. Playing in fear, pressing to produce or know they will be sent down or call our young guys up and have them sit. Unfortunately with the May injury along with other young pitchers Falvey has had to decide on Plan B,C,D etc as one by one they have been bit by the injury bug. Enjoy the process Twins fans we are finally heading in the right direction.
  13. This topic has been argued previously here going back a couple months. I'm tired of defending this guy. He can flat out pitch. Location-Change of speed-Movement = SUCCESS.
  14. Also tied with 4 other closers with 2nd most saves. They all get it done in a different way. Give the guy credit as he knows how to pitch.
  15. 20 saves. Not bad for a guy who cant pitch.
  16. I hope that we all have seen how competent Falvey and the new FO are. Fantastic draft according to many top level baseball minds. Many on this board were ready to run him out of town after day 1 of the draft. Maybe we aren't used to people who think outside the box. Is the pitching staff and bullpen a mess? Most definitely. However could Falvey have forseen all of the injuries to our young pitchers? As rumours start to heat up for more pitching such as Gorden, Polanco and more for Archer let's not get to excited. Our Twins are in great hands and we should feel lucky to have Falvey and Co.
  17. Twins in first place! No Terry Ryan! Young players are performing well! Sorry naysayers this glass is half full! It's not the FO fault that many young arms that could helped this bullpen mess are all hurt! I have said numerous times that the roster is a work in process and it will take time to build. Enjoy the process everyone. Our young guys are pretty good.
  18. Sano had been on fire. 11k in 14ab. Maybe a rest was needed. I'm not a Molitor fan either but to his defense who would have thought this group would be in first 46 games into the season. NOT ME! A few young guys I was hoping could help like May, Burdi and Jay have all had injuries so you tell me who is ready to help now? We have a new front office in place that are smarter than we are and want to win. We have a young team that the best days are ahead of them. We have a young and talented front office that get it! Relax and let the process play out.
  19. I can't believe our TWINS lost today. They should never ever give up a lead in the 8th,9th or 15th or anytime. If our TWINS ever have a lead period they should win. As far as strikeouts, failure to move runners over and plain dumbass baserunning or manager moves, fire them all they shouldn't be human. This team is a Championship destined bound club and anyone screwing up should be either optioned or fired. COME ON MAN! This is baseball. Players are human and this roster isn't perfect. GO TWINS!
  20. Because if we pretend it's skill you said! How do you save 3 games in a row and 1 being a 5 out save if you have no skill and all luck? Come on man!
  21. When you don't consistently make solid contact on a closer it definitely means he has an understanding of pitching. Strikeout or not Give this guy some credit. Thanks Seth
  22. Much has been said about this guy not being able to pitch. 3 days and 3 saves. Not going to win the beauty contest but he is a keeper. Might be as a 7th or 8th inning guy but has the mental makeup.
  23. You naysayers crack me up. You actually think the new FO has a secret plan to make terrible moves with player personal. Give these guys a chance. You want them to come in and make all these changes but the problem is our young potential replacements are hurt or aren't ready. Gibson and DanSan proved under the watch of the new FO that they sucked and they then made the move. It is apparent that Falvey and Co. WILL NOT CLEAN HOUSE! Instead slow but sure, 1 or 2 moves at a time this team will be composed of his guys. As the old saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day". Go Twins!
  24. Sorry but have to disagree about your assesment on Kintzler. This guy knows how to pitch. He is not your typical closer with 1 or 2 great pitches but he gets the job done with movement, change of speed and location. In addition we do not have anybody ready to assume the role right now. If and when one of our young arms seems ready for the role, Kintzler can always move to the 7th or 8th inning spot while serving as our backup plan if our future closer should fail.
  25. So we are going to turn the worse team in baseball around in 1 year? "Come on man" as Espn says, this is going to take time. Let's see what this team looks like at the end of the year. Just my opinion but the bullpen is the easiest fix. How about do our young want to be studs really turn into studs? In our case if the offense comes along we will be just fine! Give me a slightly above 500 year with progress with our young hitters so we know what we have, I'm fine. The young pitchers we have will be ready to contribute by next year.
