  1. Head scratching pulling 3 hitters who had a hit (including the 2 who drove in their 2 runs) and replacing them with 3 guys who ended up with nothing, He has no baseball instincts. I think most of us who have played MLB the Show could manage a team better then him.
  2. A manager with a brain will look at those stats and agree with your assessment which is accurate.
  3. Especially after you smoked a ball for an RBI earlier in the game. Reminds me of last season when the team pretty much quit mid-season.
  4. Pinch hitting for 3 guys who had a hit and both rbis is a head scratcher. When they had Gordon pinch hitting for Jeffers, Jeffers looked completely disgusted.
  5. Thanks for crunching the numbers!
  6. Apparently they do since it's in the box score. But I agree, someone needs a hit with runners on.
  7. They do and have for quite awhile. See the column on the right side which is the individual LOB, there is team LOB which is below.
  8. If MLB keeps stats of teams with bases loaded and less than 2 outs but get 0 runs the Twins have to be tops in that category. It's crazy how 2 consecutive games they were in that spot with the game on the line and couldn't get a single run.
  9. They'll wait until their season has fallen apart and then make some moves too late. Now would be the time to make some calls and try to get a deal done, before their schedule gets much more difficult at the end of next week.
  10. He needs to stay up, either as a starter or long reliever who can spot start as needed.
  11. If the Twins gave up selling their collective soul to analytics and actually used their brains they would win far more games. Even the game Sunday they came back and won was in spite of analytics, not because of it.
  12. MLB calculates the number of runners each batter left on base, which some batters strand the same runners so the total is 30. See graphic.
  13. The only saving grace is how bad the rest of the central has been, but the last 2 games should have been W's if they had a manager who was able to manage a bullpen competently.
  14. Another thing I don't understand is why Rocco pinch hit for 3 guys who had hits in the game and both rbis. That was a horrible decision. Also, if you've faced the 3 batter minimum and have allowed more base runners than you've gotten outs, you should be pulled. It isn't rocket science. Rocco Baldoofus strikes again.
  15. As a Negro League historian who goes to the NLBM several times a year for research I have a high respect for the negro leagues and it's players but it was definitely not the same level of organization or caliber of play as the Major Leagues. And just because MLB and baseball reference made a declaration and decided to include stats (which are incomplete) doesn't re-write history or change the facts. You do realize Joe Mauer played the end of his career at first base? His career average as a catcher is .328 I believe.
  16. Can you tell me which team in Major League Baseball Josh Gibson played for? Maybe you should share that new info with MLB that since he died before Jackie Robinson played for the Dodgers. I think Mauer had 5 SS and won an MVP and played during the days of Jorge Posada and Ivan Rodriguez who were both good hitting catchers, Piazza really didn't have any other competition in the NL the way Mauer did. Piazza was a far better run producer, I agree and hit for more power. That wasn't Mauer's game. Mauer's ability to hit for high average had never been seen before in the history of baseball from the catcher position.
  17. How many MLB at bats did Gibson have? How many batting titles did Piazza win?
  18. People who don't believe Mauer should be in the hall never watched him play. I have his swing up there with Griffey and Ted Williams as the most beautiful I've ever seen.
  19. Winnable game but only one loss. Still have a 5 game lead in the division at the moment and still tied for the 3rd best record in the AL. They won the series, now need to take care of business against KC then again in Detroit next week before the tougher schedule comes their way.
  20. Joe Mauer was the best hitting catcher in the history of the game. Deserves to be in the HoF.
