    Nor is it a stretch to want nothing to do with Greene. If this was the NFL we would let the bidding war for the shinny QB play out and in the end everyone would like the result.

    I'd be curios to know the break down between pitcher and position player. I'm guessing position players have a meaningful advantage although it might come down to HOF level players skewing position players more then pitchers along with shorter careers.

    It's hard to play the under slot game without a top 3 pick so i think the #'s would basically give you an accurate indication. Chances are the #76 pick or whatever we're on has never been used under slot, Twins are in position to increase the odds to probably mid to late 2nd round level.

    Keep in mind how hard it is to evaluate especially beyond the top 10. If we want the Twins to draft the top player on these lists then we should demand the Twins fire Falvey and hire the list maker.

    Makes a ton of sense can never get to many position players especially when you know your gonna be able to sign a few extra picks then normal.

    If we have two true SS at SS and 2nd thats a plus, if we have 3 true SS at SS 2nd and 3rd thats a plus, heck if we have 4 true SS one with a little extra height over at first that's also a plus.

    As much as you want guys to be sure thing pitchers there are very few. Look at Strasburg who is as close as it gets a ton of injuries and at this stage ERA's in the mid 3's in the NL the last 3 years after getting rocked pretty hard last night. Clearly in hindsight I'd still take Strasburg over Lewis but position players seem to play up to there drat position more so then pitchers at the top of the draft. Plus i like the idea of busting like Buxton (so far) rather then busting like a #5 starter. Pitchers can't really give you a little position players can.

    My thought the last few weeks is these pitchers aren't good enough go with the top position player. Maybe in the end Lewis isn't under slot because he actually is good. we've been chasing pitchers like NFL teams chase QB's and it's been a disaster.

    The key to me is where does the couple million dollar advantage pay off most, If you sprinkle in an extra $500,000 every pick you can be getting top 50 talent even in the 5th or 6th round. At the top of the draft it is only an advantage in years of a clear #1.

    Do you ever play fantasy football auction drafts, you'll quickly learn how bad of an approach that is.

    The idea of having him or Greene play the field 3 of the other 4 days intrigues me but the odds that once they are in triple A they are still prospects in both respects are slim and doing both probably hurts their ability to do the other.

    Except for this the Angles can get virtually any of the leading cy young candidates today with one phone call if they offer Mike Trout.

    Anyone talking about money in the context of finances and not strategy is missing the point big time. The Yankees Cubs Dodgers and Red Sox in this particular draft would all be trying the same thing. Hunter Greene is good but as far as i can tell he is not so good you just use the #1 pick and the entire slot on him and call it a day without considering and potentially pulling off other options.
