  1. Would they wait 3 hours? This doesn't look good.
  2. He has a chance to be great in the bullpen and very good as a starter. Both are great options. If a situation emerges where we might need him as a starter and because he's been in the pen it doesn't work oh well. If we go into the season with May as a starter it's an if. With him in the bullpen it's not. Add to that this makes berrios that much closer to getting the call when ready and it seems like an brainer to me. As for May's potential future pay the bullpen pay is trending way up by the time he becomes a free agent I expect $10 million to be his low end.
  3. It's 1st base there has to be 50 options. If he didn't already have a spot I'd guess with a little work Buxton could be the best defensive 1st basemen as he would have every other advantage other then being a couple inches on the short side. Don't know enough about Kepler to know for sure but that was the name I was going to throw out.
  4. You develop your bullpen, and trade for a hot hand down the stretch. Betting big money that anyone but the elite will have a repeat above average season seems pretty foolish. Given we already have Perkins May and Jepsen we only need to really find 2 others, if your willing to go with Berrios and he meets expectations now you're down to one. You should find the other in Spring Training, but if not a minor trade can do the trick. I know you want Berrios and/or May in the rotation but the point is you can build a great bullpen without spending money and without downgrading the current rotation. If Berrios is an ace starter thats almost like an addition to the bullpen by keeping them fresh every 5th day especially when the offense does it's job, if he's not an ace starter he's probably better used in the bullpen, the same is true for May. Seeing other teams have shut down bullpens doesn't mean you have to have a shutdown bullpen. A bullpen ERA of 3 means while the Royals and Yankees give up more then zero you give up 1 from the 7th inning on, you should be able to build a roster that can make up that run elsewhere.
  5. Is Berrios good enough that I shouldn't be worried that the Twins don't even care about adding a top of the rotation pitcher? It's funny compared to 3 years ago the Twins pitching staff is more then fine but we need to take the next step and 5 #3 and 4 starters isn't gonna get us there. I do think with a healthy Perkins and a full year of Jepsen the bullpen is probably fine with a little tweaking.
  6. He can't he has a no trade clause. Oh wait wrong automatic response.
  7. Exactly my thoughts, he was hyped up to clearly deserve at bats over Mauer. Maybe the Twins still have high hopes, but his agent sure doesn't either that or his agent was only going to make money if he signed in the US and screwed his client when the Twins low balled him.
  8. if all games are 50/50 Twins still have better then 3% chance of forcing 163
  9. Smarter then most managers? It's amazing how smart you can look when you have significantly better players then the previous. Maybe Molitor can get credit for not being horrible, but he had next to nothing to do with all the good young players coming up this year. I think a great manager easily would have got this team to the playoffs.
  10. I couldn't imagine how bad we would have been in 2012 with Molitor. Bad rosters and bad managers usually don't turn out well.
  11. Hrbeks grand slam, in the car on about a 5 inch black and white TV, or the radio if the reception wasn't coming in for us at the time. We were in between a wedding and the reception of Twins season ticket holders, my dad had been warning them all summer they would be playing game 6 that day, I think they even moved the time of the wedding time up assuming a night game. A lot of car horns went off for that one.
  12. I wonder if dick bremer knows how silly he sounds complaining about a missed call not standing based on a technicality. That rule was for spreading up the game. Clearly speeding up the game hasn't been a priority for a couple months.
  13. Did anyone else think doizer applauding the great defensive play was about getting a mental edge. At this stage the opponent has no reason to care about winning, but they should have pride anything you can do to gain respect could help say convince a starting pitcher to groove 3 pitches and start polishing the golf clubs by the 5 the inning. Who knows either way great 1st inning.
  14. As bad as scores and box scores indicate this offense is, it seems as if every time I'm watching they drive right down the field. Given the TCU loss is pretty impressive at this point I wouldn't be shocked if they were ranked next week. Of course the team I watch looks like a team that clearly should be ranked.
  15. no sense in watching opening day if you won't let this one hurt.
  16. Between the twins and the wild I don't know if I could be any more annoyed by former gophers.
  17. It's gonna be tough to win with only one hit now
  18. Paul Molitor took Milone out with a 3 run lead in the 2nd despite no rockets and only one walk. It seems like he plays hunches.
  19. Glenn Perkins to Cabrara. Are we saying he's healthy?
  20. I disagree it was still going to be a bang bang play, unless your asking for a perfect throw without setting his feet first.
  21. Thats about a 150 foot throw, if the fielder is alert it's still a tough play as that example proved. If the fielder is napping it's an easy run. With 2 outs the risk is minimal. In game 7 of the world series last year Nate Silver ran the #'s and came up with Alex Gordon should of tried to score despite the fact the cutoff man had the ball as he was rounding 3rd.
  22. Along the lines of always going for it on 4th and short, thats a smart play. If he made an out big deal the next batter got out anyways.
  23. Not really outside of the throw Kinsler did what he was supposed to do, right fielder needs to call him off.
  24. Love that base running. Right fielder needs to catch that ball whenever he's able for that exact reason.
