  1. Theoretically they might have won this game if Molitor trusts Rucinski and lets him pitch the 8th instead of mopping in the ninth. After all he is one of the two who did not pitch yesterday. The other one is Wheeler.
  2. Yet Rucinski might be the only one who gets demoted. Belisle and Pressly who both have 8 plus ERA stay. I guess as long as you are a veteran who has some past success can stay in Minnesota bullpen as long as you want.
  3. Three runs now. Pressly might be worse.
  4. D Santana and Pressly should be demoted before Buxton and Gibson.
  5. To be fair, both Jepsen and May have been horrible this season. May gave up 5 home runs already. He has allowed quite a few inherited runners to score. I really think May is way overrated. Jepsen might be gone after this season. May is still going to be around though.
  6. Because Santana cannot make routine play at short. It's just that simple. When that happens, it also gets to his head. He could not hit for average anymore. Santana also has little power.
  7. I would rather keep Nunez instead, at least Nunez is consistent and reliable, and he has a bit more power than Santana.
  8. Why would you want to trade a fairly good lefty starter? Just because May is younger and has more upside? Sometimes upside is just upside, it might never work out. I know a lot of people like May enough so that they all want the best for him. Well unfortunately this is a team sport. We as Twins fans should want the best for the team. May with his strikeout stuff should stay in the bullpen so that he could get velocity up to get more strikeouts and appear in more games. I believe Milone is going to have a long successful career as a starter. He does not throw hard just like Buehrle or Maddux. He really knows how to pitch out of trouble. It seems to me the only way to get out of trouble for May is to strike people out though.
  9. Escobar is still young though. He has shown his consistency. Don't count him out yet.
  10. Tonkin has not shown the ability to pitch in the major league.
  11. Like it or not, I would prefer May to stay in the back end of the bullpen. It would benefit the Twins greatly if May could appear in more games in critical situation if he could strike guys out at will. He still needs more experience though. It was painful to see him give up that grand slam...
  12. Mr jimbo92107, Trevor May usually exits earlier than other starters, what makes you think he could EVER go 8 innings? I really believe May has more value in the bullpen although he may never be Wade Davis. Hughes is a flyball pitcher, he gives up a lot of long balls. I don't think he has what it takes to be a closer.
  13. Trading 18th and 25th prospects for this middle reliever is what made me upset the most. I think it's a terrible trade for the Twins. Probably not as influential as Ramos for Capps trade, it's still a bad trade.
  14. I am really not sure if the Twins could make the playoff this year. The more games they play in the second half, the less likely it seems. Getting blown out more and more often. The Twins simply have no pitching and consistent hitting to dance with the wolves.
  15. Both Boyer and Fien should be shut down now. They are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE.
  16. Last night's game won't be in any Twins players' "highlight reel"
  17. Well, quite opposite, I don't trust May at all. I feel he is going to be a high ERA starter or reliever. Gibson does not throw hard, but he really knows how to pitch.
  18. It would be silly to give up the future for one player. I don't care who it is. Good pitching always beats good hitting. It would be wise to save as much pitching as you can. I would not give up Berrios and Kepler. They are both considered as part of the future.
  19. Danny Santana is definitely not one of his best hitters.
  20. Twins rarely use pinch hitters, why bother? I think the priority now is to fix the bullpen ASAP.
  21. It seems to me Boyer has been letting inherited runners scored every time he's out there. I am pretty sure whoever is reponsible for those runners does not appreciate that. Although Boyer has an acceptable ERA, what he's done is not acceptable. It would be a good idea to trade Boyer for a lefty reliever since his ERA looks nice. Boyer should not be trusted in any close games.
  22. In order to be an effective starter in the major league, May really needs to pitch deep in the game and keeps pitch count low.
  23. May should be a long reliever for a close game or 7th/8th inning man. Boyer has failed to perform lately and he could not strike people out at will, May has a power arm, he would be a lot more effective than any of the guys there except Perkins. I believe this would not be a long term move if May could perform well. Pelfrey and Milone are not strikeout pitchers. Contact pitchers might struggle especially when there are some inherited runners on. Since bullpen has been struggling as a group, it might be a better idea to insert a power pitcher there FOR THE TEAM!
