1. Was he as painful to watch on tv as he was from the stands?
2. I like the idea of Wong, but I think Dozier will be fine as a stop-gap until Rosario arrives. I'd rather see SP in return. Here's what KLaw had to say in his chat today: Paul (DC) Kolton Wong...not enough upside for top-50? Klaw (1:51 PM) No, not close. Average to above-average regular ceiling. Yet, Rosario made the list. Here's the last part of KLaw's post in his Top 50 about Rosario: The former center fielder may never be above average at second, but his bat will be. Rosario's ceiling is a .290-.310 hitter with 30-35 doubles, 10 homers and 50-60 walks a year, which would make him one of the best at that position in the game.
3. I agree with this completely. I keep pulling for him to get hot and start driving the ball, but I just don't see it happening.
4. Glad to see this thread up. I was actually contemplating a blog regarding this but dragged my feet. Lee and Gallardo were the first two pitchers that came up as I started to look. I would endorse a deal for either of these guys, but would prefer Lee. I think if the Twins were willing to eat the salary, they might be able to get him reasonably. Despite his age, he seems more of a true ace that Gallardo. I think he has a decent chance of aging well as he doesn't rely on above average velocity. The reason I was thinking of blogging on this is that I think it is the only way the Twins pick up a top end starter. I don't see them competing for the big names on the free agent market. I think Ryan would be much more likely to trade for a 2-3 year contract that is already signed. The Twins have the money to do this. That being said, I agree with Brock that it isn't very likely.
5. If Parmalee can't beat him out? Morneau currently has a .725 OPS and Parmelee a .703 with very sporadic playing time of late. Let's remember that Parmalee has been learning a new position and has played more than acceptable defense out in RF. I'm honestly not sure we would have a drop off in production if they just inserted Parmalee as the full-time 1B. Here's a Fangraphs article regarding Morneau: Dumping Justin Morneau | FanGraphs Fantasy Baseball
6. Arcia appears to be the next coming of Jason Kubel. His minor league numbers look very similar. Hopefully he can become the player we hoped Kubel would be prior to his injury. Kubel gave us several very good years, but never produced quite to the level I hoped for.
7. Oh well, I guess I'll be gone for awhile again.
8. Boy, I've been off the game threads for awhile. They're doling out "super moderator" titles like yardsticks at the State Fair.
9. They were talking about Hicks going out on a rehab assignment. Blyleven said something to the effect that the training staff will take great care of him and get him back playing.
10. Did anybody catch Blyleven singing the praises of the training staff a couple of innings ago? Wow!
11. Thankfully Ft. Myers doesn't play this weekend (All-Star Break). Otherwise my trip to Cedar Rapids this weekend might not include seeing Buxton play. I have no doubts he will be in Ft. Myers soon after. Can't wait to watch them on Friday night.
12. Well done once again Seth. I don't know how you find the time to keep up on the minor leagues so well.
13. Holy raspberry! Sorry, I couldn't resist.
14. Let me guess, third out is a ground ball to 2B.
15. Agree on Revere. Span's numbers look similar to what he put up the two years prior to last. I'm just happy he was better last year and Ryan flipped him for a valuable piece.
16. I've heard he probably isn't a CF long-term, but his bat plays in the corners also.
17. I'm pretty sure we still couldn't hit his slider.
18. Nothing like good self-deprecating humor.
19. I would say the same thing about TK. I really enjoy his ability to be blunt about players and not sugar coat it. If he could just show a little more enthusiasm. He would never take the job full-time, but I enjoy it when he fills in.
20. Jayson Stark has an article on Home Runs right now: Home runs and HR heroes of 2013 - ESPN I found an interesting tidbit: [h=3]The zero hero team[/h] Most plate appearances this season without a homer:
PA HR
Elvis Andrus 236 0

Denard Span 220 0

Placido Polanco 205 0

Ruben Tejada 204 0

Ben Revere 176 0

Gregor Blanco 158 0

Span's OPS: .668 Revere's OPS: .582 Hicks' OPS: .569 With the improvements (albeit slight) Hicks is showing, he may end up passing the other two up yet this year. The Twins are going through obvious growing pains with Hicks, but it's starting to become apparent why they traded Span and Revere.
21. Keith Law has updated his Mock Draft and has Stewart going #4 to the Twins. The intriguing part is that Gray makes it to #5. Would the Twins really pass up Gray? It seems to me that Stewart might have a slightly higher ceiling, but Gray's floor is significantly higher. Houston Astros take Colin Moran over Mark Appel in second mock draft of 2013 - MLB Draft - ESPN For those that don't have Insider, the top 5 picks are: Hou - Moran ChiC - Appel Col - Bryant MN - Stewart Cle - Gray
22. Congrats on 10 years, Seth. Here's to many more.
