  1. Oh my God, I knew he was a hacker, but could somebody please give him the take sign this year? I loved the last line, "Problem is, he's got to actually run into one first."
  2. I would agree with this. Focus and attention span seem to get in the way of his tools at times.
  3. I've noticed the same problem. I am using FF35.01. I also use several computers, so I'll test this one.
  4. He would probably be Option 4B. Same response at the end.
  5. Quality 4th OF hopefully. Option 1 - Hicks finally figures it out and Schaefer is the 4th OF Option 2 - Hicks starts, Schaefer plays 2X a week against good RHP Option 3 - Rosario beats out Hicks Option 4 - Schaefer is the starter I hope we don't get to option 4.
  6. If you are the President of that club, I'm pretty sure jorgenswest is the VP.
  7. Can't say as I blame him. He's getting paid well to do nothing this year if he chooses. He's had three crappy seasons in a row. I might want to step away as well.
  8. If I'm not mistaken, Giolito ended up having TJ surgery during his senior year in HS. He was being discussed for the #1 pick overall prior to the surgery.
  9. I'm going to throw my two cents in. I'd like to see Hicks play 3/4 of the time, spelling him against certain RHP with Schaefer. I want to find out if Hicks can be a serviceable player for the Twins over the next 3-4 years. I know it's not the true platoon, but Hicks should not play on the short end of the platoon. If he is in MLB he needs to be playing the majority of the time. Having Schaefer face the tougher RHP could afford Hicks some time to build some confidence. I could see the platoon giving us decent defense and a .650 OPS out of the #9 spot in the order. Without a trade, I think this gives us the best defensive alignment as well. I see many clamoring for Escobar over Hicks based on last year's performance. It's hard to disagree strictly based on performance, but let me throw this at you: Escobar 2012 Age 22 146 PA .214 .278 .260 .537 2013 Age 23 179 PA .236 .282 .345 .628 Hicks 2013 Age 22 313 PA .192 .259 .338 .597 2014 Age 23 225 PA .215 .341 .274 .615 What's to say that Hicks can't do the same thing Escobar did last season? I would argue that minor league stats suggest that Hicks stands a better chance than Escobar.
  10. It may have been the Twins prior to signing Santana. Shields said no, so the Twins moved on.
  11. I agree and would rather have Zimmerman. He should cost less in terms of prospects as well.
  12. Absolutely not. I want all of the arms we can get. We would be lucky to get 25 cents on the dollar in trading Nolasco or Milone. If Meyer and May are lights out in ST and Nolasco and Milone look healthy and productive, then maybe we try to see what value they might have.
  13. Come on now, don't curb his enthusiasm. "Just call him butter, 'cause he's on a roll."
  14. Thanks for all the hard work put in by our moderators. Have a wonderful holiday season!
  15. Here's the spin on MLB Traderumors: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/12/twins-to-extend-phil-hughes.html
  16. This is good news. Yes, this does expose the Twins to additional risk, but I don't like the statement that the Twins assume all the risk at the higher value. At last year's production, 13.2 M per season is still a bargain on the FA market. It is a gamble on the Twins' part, but they seem convinced that he has figured it out and they aren't paying big money for a pitcher into his mid-30's.
  17. I'd be happy giving up two dimes and even throw in a nickel if the quarter is a #2 SP or better.
  18. Agreed. I felt like responding to the "aces" idea, but most importantly, there are many good pitchers available. I count at least a dozen guys that would fit into the mold of "as good as Hughes" that I called for at the end of the season. I say screw leaving spots open for Meyer and May. They can earn their spot in the bullpen and work into the starting rotation if, or more likely when, one of the other guys fails or gets hurt. It worked for Wainright, Lynn and Wacha in St Louis. (Sorry to bring up St Louis as the model franchise )
  19. I'm not sure that would be the case. Aren't a large number of the regular lineup going to be on minimum contacts at that point, or just reaching arbitration?
  20. Agree completely. KLaw repeatedly scoffs at people in his chats who suggest giving up big packages for guys with one year left on their contracts.
  21. I agree that we shouldn't be trading multiple top prospects when similar money (but more years) gets the job done in FA.
  22. While I lime Zimmerman, I wouldn't trade Dozier and Berrios/Stewart for him. You get one year of control. That's crazy, plus you have to pay big bucks to extend Zim. I had a Twitter chat with a guy that write for SBNation for the Nats. I asked about trading Dozier for Gio straight up. He thought it was reasonable, but slightly favored Nats since Dozier is cheaper. He thought Dozier for Zimm was too much since we only get a year. Why not wait and sign him in FA. They would have Gio for 3 years at 30-35M which would likely be palatable for TR.
