  1. They didn't just take college RPs early, they took them middle and late. The real problem is that the Twins aren't very good at developing ML pitchers. Therefore, they are forced to draft gobs of pitchers in hopes they can find one per year. They alternatives are the dumpster-diving of Ryan's past, or the free-agent signings which haven't worked vey well. I am surprised at the teeth-gnashing over Graham I watched him "pitch" (his last game as a Twin) and concluded: "This guy is crap." Apparently Twins management agreed and demoted him immediately. The fact that someone is offering cash for Graham is "manna from heaven" and there should be no hesitation about accepting it for him!
  2. Fear negativity not!--greater foes are at the gates--Despair, Acceptance, and Accommodation.
  3. The tweet said "...or cash." Magic words to the Twins for a player for whom they have no use.
  4. May might not appear more than once per week if he is moved to "closer" position. I remember that Perkins rarely appeared not so long ago because there were very few games needing closing.
  5. Damn! I was just about to post the same comment! Well played!!
  6. Let's see: after disposing of everybody who can make any claim of being a major league player how do you justify charging admission for games? If every fan (except for TD armchair GMs) revolt, how do you explain to all of the state that they should continue to pay for a stadium that is supposed to be used for MLB games (except they really aren't!)? I have read oh so many posts about players being "rushed", and now every prospect is to prove himself at the major league level? Hmm, panic attack to me.
  7. His face plant on that hit should dispel any fantasies about his fielding.
  8. So, it's Molitor's fault? Stuck withJepsen too long? Let's see none on, two out, and place him? Wt foresight! And why would anybody be ready? Please recall that Tonkin was lifted Sunday because all he did was throw BP. Sorry, at some point the players need to show grit and professionalism--and damn few of them are!
  9. The Twins need to change (what--change?) their use of pitchers. relax the 100 pitch limit. Berrios should have pitched the 6th. Use RPs for two innings, or longer! This tired concept of 1 pitcher, one inning kills the pen.
  10. Phew! For a moment in the top of the 9th, I thought the Twins were going to win it in the bottom of the 9th. Silly me. I saw the "Arcia play" Yikes! He isn't an OF, but he might be a goalie.
  11. Yes there is! Traded for Hoey and "whatizname", and the grand champion: traded for Subdurhan.
  12. My point! "Them" being the NYY from my post.
  13. Of course! NYY's previous trade for a MN Twin worked-out so well for them!!
  14. The Twins believed their own smoke and sunshine--and when the results were undeniably bad--they were forced to publicly acknowledge the fact. Then, they deflected the blame "downhill" (you know ...). This time no timetable was even mentioned or even suggested.
  15. "The Twins Way" is a "we are family" approach and everybody knows their place and pulls their oar. The "Way" is to put likeable guys in the field who get their uniform dirty and entertain everybody at minimum salary--the St. Paul Saints. Unfortunately this is MLB, and most teams are doing their level best to put the most useful players on the field to win BB games. The Twins aren't very good at turning amateur players into winning MLB players. As Pohlad stated: "...a total system failure"--but he could have added "...the system is a total failure..." and be just as correct.
  16. Now I know why Duffey was so angry after yielding the first WS run--because when the Twins scored they told Duffey "That's your run!".
  17. This "total system failure" was cast in 2012 when Pohlad decided to restore Ryan. That decision showed his lack of passion for MLB and that Twins were: a dividend check, a footprint in the community (oh so useful for preferential treatment from the community rulers), and membership in an exclusive club. Ryan represents a need for complete control of a "family business" and the security that delivers. Twins fans simply misunderstood that there is more than one definition of " a winning baseball team".
  18. Apparently the Twins want to see the future without a Mauer in the lineup--or was he waived too?
  19. Seth wrote that no one knows the Twins players better than Ryan.
  20. It's more likely that the next Twins manager is Gardenhire than anyone else!
  21. Somebody remind me--Please!--why did we pay for a new stadium that results in ticket prices being tripled? Was it the Limestone? The Sunshine? What?
  22. "Total system failure"? Is that an admission of "I believed the smoke machine and now we have to eat crow"? If so, why continue with the same management that failed? 2016 is the fifth year of "the rebuild" or whatever buzzword was used to explain the need to dump Bill Smith. If the players are to be blamed (and yes they should be!) who is responsible for their failure? At some point failure can no longer be placed on the departed and must be assigned to those who are in charge now. The current system selected, developed, promoted, and trusted "the players" who are now admonished. If the "system failed" then rotating personnel won't fix anything. Too many are quick to place the blame on the rotation. Examine the first two weeks. 0-9, but with few exceptions the final scores were close and the losses were caused by a lack of offense. Way too many strikeouts and very few hits with baserunners. The 4-game "win streak" --some timely hitting, solid pitching and few gaffes in the field. But a tough loss or two--and chaos followed. Pohlad calls it "total system failure"--but all we see are some minor personnel removed. If Ryan installs Gardenhire as part of "keeping the ole gang around" then we'll see why this debacle occurred.
