  1. I truly understand the logic behind the BB rationale. I just can't figure out how or why he scores more than everyone on his team or in the league for that matter. I'm talking every year he is among the league leaders. That's why "I" find him an anomaly. It defies logic and prevents me from being as hopeless as you are. But I get the normal odds of the situation. Just to many intangibles that go along with Walkers history to make me say nay nay.
  2. SOUTHERN LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE MONTH Definitely one of my 2016 Corner Outfielders. http://www.milb.com/documents/2/9/6/135045296/Walker_Named_Player_of_the_Month_89m02y48.pdf 70 RBI already with 20 doubles and 23 home runs and leads the team in runs scored = A lot more All than Nothing And that is every year
  3. I hear you Seth, but you and many others have suggested the same development playbook for Walker over the last 3 years. You have gotten what you wanted as it pertains to his need to cut down on K's and improve contact. How has that worked for you or the Twins? Wanting him to stay to get certain results is one thing, but wanting him to stay and getting the same results proves nothing. What is the joke: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and getting expecting different results. That joke can go for Prospect and Organization. I say try something new and pray for new results. What do you have to lose after trying your method for 3 years?
  4. My only problem with the year to year promotion philosophy for Walker is that he hasn't improved his K rate during the last 2 years. Why not see if a mid season promotion works in some strange way? If you want change, stop doing the same thing goes for the organization as well as the prospect. Besides he has earned it IMO. Walker: Leads all of AA in HRs by 8 and RBI by 16. He also leads AA in XBH's with 44. He is not boom or bust from the standpoint that he also has 19 doubles and 2 triples to his resume. Even with his ridiculous K rate - Walker is among the top run scorers in AA and has done so thru out his career. Promote the kid and throw him his first true bone (from the organization) since drafting him.
  5. Leads AA in HRs by 8 Leads AA in RBI by 16 Leads AA in XBH with 44 Tied for 6th in Runs scored An ISO of .329 An wOBA of .412 An wRC+ of 158 37% SO Rate Walker still might not be able to do produce at the MLB level, but he surely deserves a promotion to AAA. You have to analyze year to year promotions by the success of what you want improved. The only area everyone wants improved has not been satisfied with the year to year philosophy (3 years running). Why not try something new and give him the mid season promotion? What do you have to lose? Or ask Jake Mauer and Tommy Watkins what they did when they had Walker for a year. Walker dropped his SO rate by 10% to (20% k rate) during his year with them. What did they do differently to get such results? He hit 27 HR and had 109 RBI in his MVP season with a 20% K rate. He has improved before. Why? & How?
  6. Goodrum has proven to be one of the more versatile players on the Lookouts. He started playing CF for the Lookouts upon his arrival to Chattanooga and now finds himself as an everyday infielder. He has played SS the last 2 games with Polanco now in Rochester. His HR yesterday was his second in AA and a game tying shot. With the addition of Mejia to the Lookouts, it will be interesting to see how the manager uses Levi Michael; Menesses; Mejia; and Goodrum across the infield. Goodrum is only batting .216 BA thru 15 games, but will hopefully start finding his groove with consistent playing time. His versatility will be his ticket.
  7. He really does take it to the extreme. The question like always becomes, which extreme will prevail at the MLB level? Thus far in his minor league career, it has been the ISO because his teams win and his numbers are a big part of those wins. Note: The Lookouts were shut out for the first time this season tonight. Walker struck out in only 25% of his AB's. Karma. { That was a joke people - Lol } That K rate has to come way way down. Agreed! Just imagine what his ISO might be then? It's not like he over swings at the plate either, yet his balls travel 400+ every time. His nickname should be "Extreme"
  8. Love it. Couldn't have said it better.
  9. Over the last 2 years - 5 Pre-Season/Spring Training games with the MLB Twins have resulted in: 6 for 14 over 5 games with 3 Ks - 2 2B - 4 HR - 5 Runs Scored - and 6 RBI http://m.mlb.com/min/video/topic/8877600/v59835383/bosmin-walker-hits-a-solo-home-run-to-left-field/?c_id=min The last game was the final tune up for Pelfrey and May (Intrasquad) His 6 hits were off of: Matt Barnes (Boston) Tanaka (Yankees) Layne (Boston) Valdez (Boston) Pelfrey (Twins) May (Twins) As pitchers make adjustments to scouting reports on Walker - I have confidence that Brunansky will help Walker make adjustments to those same pitchers. Enough to be "Walker like" successful. He doesn't appear to be afraid of the moment, that's for sure.
  10. Walker LEADS all of minor league baseball in HRs @ (23). The next closest guy has 19. He is Second in all of minor league baseball in RBI @ (67). He sports a .362 BABIP. His OPS is an impressive .940 (great) His ISO is an unprecedented .340 (.250 is Fangraph Excellent). He has a SLG% in AA of .612 (excellent). He has a wOBA of .420 (excellent). His wRC+ is 162 (excellent). And he LEADS all of minor league baseball with 43 extra base hits (XBH). That's not all home runs there. That has to be impressive to even the biggest doubters. All in AA. If he doesn't deserve a promotion - no one does. The excellent and great marks are the Fangraph grading scales for each metric. Sano might have better upside, but the above metrics should make you say WOW. Excellent is the highest grade.
  11. I agree that all the above named individuals have earned a promotion. Polanco needs to be challenged more. Kepler is eating up AA pitching and should be tested more in AAA. Sano is in beast mode sense late May and needs to be tested in AAA or at the MLB level for a Joey Gallo cup of coffee. Walker leads all of minor league baseball in HRs (23) and 2nd in all of minor league baseball in RBI (67). He has a .940 OPS and a .340 ISO. Despite the SO's , he needs to be tested as well in AAA.
  12. I wouldn't be able to argue your point based on prospect history. Based on gut and past history of Walker's production maybe. Again - No one can name a guy who led every league in HRs - RBI - TB - & XBH three years running and failed? That is my special player argument. My ultimate outlier rationale! And every player in baseball doesn't get promoted if that is your argument. Besides they would have been in second place anyway.
  13. ABW 23rd HR tonight / 4 in last 5 games (3 games in a row) and 11 in the month of June. 28 RBI in May and June each.
  14. Bash Brothers make MiLB Team of the Week along with Duffy http://m.mlb.com/news/article/133599692/twins-miguel-sano-on-prospect-team-of-week
  15. No disrespect, but that is exactly what was said after Rookie Ball. No disrespect, but that is exactly what was said after Low A Ball No disrespect, but that is exactly what was said after High A Ball No disrespect, but that is exactly what is being said during AA Ball #1 in the country - is number #1 in the country - Not second best. You might be eventually right about his ultimate downfall, but to date he has ALWAYS been the best at what he does. Lucky for the Twins organization he is better at more things than he is bad at. 22 HRs / 66 RBI / 170 Total Bases / 42 XBH - 107 SO If his production dropped off 1/3 at the MLB level - he would still have: 15 HRs / 44 RBI / 113 Total Bases / 28 XBH - 142 SO Who on the Twins has even those numbers of production? Just saying........... Promise not to make this a ABW thread. My last comment
  16. Walker Home Runs = 18 2015 OUTFIELDERS Hunter - 8 Rosario - 3 Escobar - 3 Arcia - 2 Nunez - 1 HIcks - 1 Hermann - 1 Shafer - 0 Robinson - 0 TOTAL Home Runs = 19 ---------------------------------- Walker RBI = 57 2015 OUTFIELDERS (Hunter excluded w/36) Escobar = 22 Robinson = 15 Rosario = 11 Arcia = 8 Nunez = 7 Hicks = 2 Total RBI = 65 We're talking strike outs; We're not talking production; We're talking strikeouts; The man is putting in work everyday and We're talking strikeouts; We're not talking production. Lol Great kid and I imagine he will continue to work on the plate discipline. Every year his production is questioned and every year he produces. I say let him fail this year as a call up and work on those exploited flaws in AAA when they become apparent in his production results. If he continues to flourish with production, then let him fail (Ks) on the job successfully. While always working to get better. Those are sad statistical results listed above. "GAME CHANGER"
  17. It's all about the Minor League Fantasy Points - Lol #1 Hitter - Adam Brett Walker #1 Pitcher - Jose Berrios http://www.wetalkfantasysports.com/2015/06/Fantasy-Baseball-AA-Prospects.html Several twins farm hands in the running. Several Twins future Outfielders in the running as well. Decision Decisions
  18. Kepler is on fire. Sweetest swing on team. Walker could finish the first half with 20 HRs and 60 RBI (18 & 57 as of tonight). I'm curious as to who everyone suspects earns a promotion to AAA or beyond?
  19. I see the move as a way to open a spot for an upcoming trade.
  20. Heating up as we get close to Summer (amazing half of a month - June stats only) 5 HR; 1 3B; 6 2B: 16 RBI; 25 K; .323 BA; .358 OBP; 1.052 OPS; BA, OBP, OPS have gone up each month in 2015 This season: .313 ISO; .363 BABIP; .407 wOBA; 154 wRC+;
  21. Tale of Two Tapes 43 RUNS; 38 RBI; 12 2B; 1 3B; 12 HR; 25 XBH 102 TB .257 BA; .358 OBP; .863 OPS; 32 BB; 59 SO; 5 GDP; OR 43 RUNS; 54 RBI; 17 2B; 2 3B; 17 HR; 36 XBH 134 TB .270 BA; .320 OBP; .902 OPS; 16 BB; 91 SO; 3 GDP; The OBP & BB have benefited how in this example? I truly know how it should benefit overall, but just saying............. Take away the BB & SO and which would you want as your DH without knowing names?
  22. Gotcha - No argument from me anymore. Case closed from my end http://puckettspond.com/2015/06/15/minnesota-twins-under-the-radar-prospect-part-two/
  23. The question actually asked if there was anyone like Walker who led their respective leagues in HRs - RBI - and Total Bases EVERY YEAR of their minor league full seasons? Not ISO or OBP or whatever else was added to the question to prove another's point. Plain and simple - EVERY YEAR / Those 3 categories. How many are there and then how many of those guys failed and succeeded? And I agree Spycake - Walker has a lot of work to do to improve in his flawed areas. I want to believe he is working at it along with other areas of his game. For the record Walker did drop his K rate 10% two years ago. It spiked again last year and this year, but to your point of he hasn't shown the ability (Not totally true). Let's see what AAA brings him. Failure or same success?
  24. Did Byron win the Twins Player of the Week? First time I didn't see it posted on a Sunday.
  25. As much as a strikeout can be a learning curve - Walker is going deep in most of his AB counts. 3-2 in the majority of counts it almost appears. But yeah - they do keep piling up . He is overly patient in the box to me and doesn't attack enough early in count, which leads to lots of 2 strike situations for a poor contact guy. I want to see him mash earlier.
